A ladder-based tournament system has been launched on SA-SIM.COM!
Unlike regular events where participants have to show up on a date and time set by the organizers, this ladder format lets players compete at their own pace through challenging each other at will, then agreeing on a match date and time that suit both parties.
Once the match is over, either player/team can report the score via the website then once it is confirmed by both parties, it gets validated and processed automatically by the ladder system. If challengers win, they swap positions with whom they challenged - the purpose being climb up the hierarchy of the ladder!
We have currently 2 ladders up and running for DCS:
1v1 BFM in the F/A-18 and 1v1 BFM in the F-14!
Any ladder can be easily created if there is enough demand, so do not hesitate to let us know if you'd like to see you favorite DCS ride featured too.
Also, it doesn't have to be 1v1 - TvT ladders can also be created with ease. Therefore, if you are a team/squadron leader, let me know so I can grant you necessary privileges to create your team on the website then invite your squadron mates to join. From there, team leaders can then join any TvT ladder and start challenging other teams.
There are too many new goodies on the website to go over in detail here, so I'd rather invite you to login or create an account on SA-SIM to have a look!
We hope that the flexibility of this new ladder system will allow more people to try competition in the time-frame of their preference.
Any player who joined a ladder can decide at any moment to leave, all it takes is pushing a button and you are out. No questions asked, no strings attached. You can rejoin at any time to try again from scratch with fresh stats.
If you have any question or inquiry, post here or join our Discord: https://discord.gg/Un6p9j

Very gentle on the stick, never panicking, great speed and G control, outstanding SA and masterful BFM display.
Your fight against Stuge was insane, I freaking stopped breathing at some point, especially the round that ended on a double flame out. You both pushed it to the limits. The best BFM round I've ever seen, hands down. Eventually, it came down to who was able to stay tough mentally the longest.
And then, there was that incredible "I hit the brakes, he'll fly right by" move against Eniks in the finale...haha...what a way to finish a tournament.
Amazing highlight video too...thanks for sharing!

Forgot to add that up to this competition, I thought Maverick's "hit the brakes" move was only possible in Top Gun movie...not anymore...Berno can just do it ...but in DCS...under pressure and against top opponents! watch the VOD you'll see:D
SA-SIM is upgrading to new features! it will be down for a few days but will come back shiny new with updated rankings and new cool stuff! Stay tuned...

Thanks Guys
It was a amazing gathering of like-minded people
Congrats to Berno...so glad this comp has brought him in the spotlight..an amazing talent in the beautiful BFM world.
Thanks to all the pilots, a lot of fun, a lot of takeaways until the next one!
A big shout out to A.S for a flawless stream, for hosting the tourney and for a great Discord place.
BFM is the real deal!
Don't go anywhere cauz more stuff is around the corner.

You can still show up on Discord on D-day to replace people if they don't turn up.
There is always someone who can't make it at the last moment.
Brackets and order of play to follow soon!

Registration closes tomorrow so that I can do the brackets and order of play.
Let the tracers rain!

Hello Thrust,
Only 2 contestants and myself (referee) will be on the hosting server for any given match. Nobody else is allowed.
Same applies for Discord, only 2 players and admin can chat on fight channel.
Spectators can watch the live stream and chat on YT.
As an organizer, I'm not affiliated with any squadron or any team whatsoever so there won't be any bias. Bracket seeding will be based on the SA Rankings and if not on past performances during SA-sanctioned DCS events, nothing is random. I have been doing this since 2012 so I have enough data to properly seed players.
Please go through the rules again and let me know if you feel something has not been covered. The clearer the better.

Mission file has been updated (no major changes only minor tweaks to carrier deck, weather and day time).
-
Lurker but I did hear about this issue on the MP server I am on
*Print screening is forbidden
Also what does 750IAS mean and why would you want to dump fuel? I guess for an advantage but does it really help that much?
For the 'bubble' would you just set your waypoint to the carrier and then make a circle off of that, not to cross?
Yes, still a noob and trying to figure out stuff. I always ask silly noob questions, sorry in advance
Mashing the printscreen key causes lag, hence the ban.
750 indicated air speed.
Dumping fuel makes your aircraft lighter and increases its speed and turning capability at the expense of air time (tradeoff).
You can check the mission file, its available for download and has been built similar to what you described.
You are welcome.

We have trimmed down player numbers to 16 instead of 32. We are still trying to go back to 32 players but 16 first slots are guaranteed to take part.
-
Nice initiative once again.
If I may suggest one thing Flanker - based on experiance from previous Hornet Cup - would be nice to see "solution" for unexpected lag during the fight or after the merge causing:
1. Positional lose,
2. Loosing tally,
3. Crashing.
If both side confirm lag causing above-mentioned they should reset the fight. (?)
If the lag (after the merge) is harmless/temporarly both side can decide if they want to continue or reset. (?)
The problem with lag is that it doesn't always appear the same way to everybody on the server, you may for example experiment it but not your opponent, and the referee/host may or may not see it either...
So if both sides confirm a significant performance-altering lag and agree to reset, so be it. There just must be a mutual agreement for the reset to happen without the referee stepping in.
The referee may also decide to knock it off and reset if he sees a good amount of lag that may be detrimental to either contestant.
So to sum it up: either both players agree or the admin steps in, if none, fight must go on.
Unfortunately, lag will always be a threat when it comes to online competition...we just try to minimize the pings of the players as much as possible but there will never be a guarantee so to speak. ..one of the reason I stress contestants to reset their routers, reboot, shut down all unnecessary apps that may use bandwidth...etc.

Here you go guys, here is the official After Action Report-------------->http://sa-sim.com/hornet-cup-razer-razors-through-stiff-competition/

Thanks Stuge, always equally classy in victory and defeat.
That was a great tourney and I'm happy that I ran this show after many months away from DCS.
Aside from the lag which I believe was very occasional and only happened a couple of time in 16 matches, I think it's fair to say that it was overall a smooth experience.
Once again, sportsmanship and healthy competition atmosphere were key so I'd like to thank every contestant for that.
A big thank you also goes to the folks who enjoyed watching this event live and for their words of encouragement.
I'd also like thank A.S for hosting this competition in his Discord channel, it's truly a good place that reminds a lot of former HyperLobby.
Last but surely not least, congratulations to Razer for the win, Razer's aggressive style yet very calm mindset allowed him to come on top against many big names on his way to victory.
And yet again, Finnish pilots dominated the show with Razer, Kapsu and Stuge taking all top 3 spots.
Rankings will be updated soon and hopefully, it won't be too long before I come back with a new dcs showdown.
Cheers fellas.
