  1. Hey! Good to see you and the boys are still around. Yeah, good old days... My PC requires some upgrading since DCS 2.9 which is why I can't really fly, unless I reduce most settings. I'll promote the event on the Cold War Discord channel to help you get some players. That of course if anyone still uses the Discord channel. Again, good to see you, ROSS_Pups and Uragx.
  2. Everything has to come to an end at some point, and quite often you don't even plan that. Surely not in my case, but I'm very okay with it. Only the time "after" has shown me how much I was into it, which I really enjoyed, to even enjoy the present even more. Dedication pays off sweetly, which is why I can always look back on the Cold War server and for the most part crack a smile. God, I enjoyed the ride! Now, back to... cough... single... cough... player
  3. Just came back from vacation. I enjoyed that even more
  4. Me too, but things have changed. Good to hear from you, mate. Stay well. I play singleplayer missions when time permits it. Very relaxing
  5. Exactly. Or, give players the option of assigning factions to whatever colours they want. We do it already with Red, Blue and Neutral.
  6. Still waiting... and it's been promised 3 years ago -__- https://memes.getyarn.io/yarn-clip/6709e77a-69bc-4c52-b8e0-335f0e488d19
  7. This is a small multiplayer mission for a maximum number of 4 players. Click here for the full briefing and to view all briefing images.
  8. Operation: Tripoli Has Fallen Mission's Features: - This is a multiplayer mission for a maximal number of 4 players. - The mission features only the Mi-24 module. - Attack, actual sling loading and troops' insertion (CTLD) tasking available. - A total of 4 slots available for a total of 8 x Mi-24's. - If 4 players decide to play the mission together, each player would have 2 lives. Obviously, if you play alone you get 8 lives. - The mission features the Syria map - Tripoli City, Lebanon. - The targets are mostly infantries, quite a few techs and a maximum number of 2 x MANPAD's. - The mission's file is attached. Download and have fun. Feedback and questions are very welcome. Situation: Insurgent forces have taken control of Tripoli. As of now, they're holding the two football stadiums and the city harbour. Furthermore, the city mayor and his entourage are held hostage in the city hotel. We know the insurgents are mostly using AK-47's, RPG's and a few machine guns. At least a dozen techs with either DSHK or KORD 12.7 mm guns, and 2-3 techs with 23mm guns mounted. One MANPAD at each football stadium (two in total). Some civilians are still unaware of the swift changes that stormed their city and are still going about their daily life. Therefore, ATGM's are allowed to deal with techs, the main gun and gun pods, and only S-5 rocket pods are enabled to minimise unnecessary damage to civilians. Preferably, no S-5 rocket pods at all, but that's up to you. Notes: - 4 x Mi-24 slots available. A total of 8 Hinds available at the airbase. Fly carefully! - Having a door gunner should help with finding insurgents in the city. Mi-8 Flight: - Dragon Flight (4 ship): 50% fuel, 4 x ATGM's (Shturm-V), 1 x GUV-8700 gun pod (right side) and 1 x door gunner (left side) ******************************************************************************************** Objectives: 1- Secure the Tripoli Olympic Stadium. 2- Secure the Municipal Olympic Stadium. 3- Secure the harbour. 4- Evacuate the city mayor and his entourage from the city hotel. 5 (optional)- Sling load 4 containers to the greenhouses area. ******************************************************************************************** ------------- Objectives 1 and 2: Destroy enemy forces at each stadium (watch out for MANPAD's!). Once that's done, deploy an assault squad in the middle of each stadium to secure the area. * Make sure you take an assault squad from the airbase using the CTLD radio option. * A total of 4 assault squads is available. ------------- Objectives 3: Destroy most (at least 90%) of insurgent forces holding the city harbour (see images and check out the F10 map). ------------- Objectives 4: - Destroy insurgent forces holding the city hotel. - Land next to the hotel (not on it) within the marked evacuation zone (check out the F10 map). - Once the the hostages are evacuated, fly to the harbour. - Land next to a ship there waiting to bail the hostages out of the city. - Check out images and the F10 map for more clarification. ******************************************************************************************** Secondary (optional) Objective: 4 containers are available on a large cargo ship at the city harbour. Each container weighs 800 kg (ca. 1760 lbs) and contains specific chemicals and fertiliser material. Sling load the 4 containers and deliver them at the greenhouses' area just 5 km further away east of the city. Insurgents seek to seize those chemicals which is why we need to secure the harbour. If secured, this objective becomes unnecessary. Up to you. ******************************************************************************************** Radio Frequencies: R-863 - Channel 0 (127.5 MHz) is the main freq. for communicating with other players. Wujah Al Hajar NDB: 511 kHz Mission Editor: - If you choose to replace the Mi-24's with other types of helicopters or add some, make sure you edit the 175 - 178 lines in the CTLD script. - Also, make sure you edit the warehouse at Wujah Al Hajar Airbase to allow those helicopters to spawn. 9. This is a small multiplayer mission for a maximum number of 4 players. Check here.
  10. Operation: Pagan Island Invasion Mission's Features: - This is a multiplayer mission for a maximal number of 4 players. - The mission features only the Mi-8 module. - Strike, bombing, CAS, actual sling loading and troops' insertion (CTLD) tasking available. - A total of 4 slots available for a total of 4 x Mi-8's. - If 4 players decide to play the mission together, each player would only have 1 life. Obviously, if you play alone you get 4 lives. - The mission features the Mariana Islands map, Pagan Island. - The targets are mostly infantries, 2-4 scout or unarmed vehicles and static objects. - The mission's file is attached. Download and have fun. Feedback and questions are very welcome. Situation: Pagan Island is of a high strategic importance for both Red and Blue. Currently, Blue (the enemy) holds the island and has a military base and an EWR site. Our navy ships have already destroyed the EWR site during last night (note the smoke rising on a mountain due south marking the destroyed enemy EWR site). Only the military base remains intact. The military base is close to a small village by the western coast. We don't want to risk destroying any buildings there, because one objective is to capture that village. Therefore, it is up to the Mi-8's to carry out the striking mission (see objectives below). ------------- Mi-8 Flights: - Squid Flight (2 ship): 50% fuel, 4 x S-8KOM rocket pods and 2 x UPK-23 pods. - Tuna Flight (2 ship): 50% fuel, 2 x GUV-8700 gun pods and 2 x GUV-8700 GL pods. ******************************************************************************************** Objectives: 1- Destroy specific structures at the military base (see image). 2- Capture all 5 areas highlighted as Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta and Echo (see image). 3- Deploy troops on a mountain peak south of the TA to secure the area (check out the F10 map). 4- Unhook 2 containers on the same mountain peak to establish an EWR site. ******************************************************************************************** ------------- Objective 1: Destroying some of the highlighted targets at the military base might require firing lots of rockets. Feel free to use bombs instead to save time. ------------- Objective 2: There are enemy infantries holding the village hiding around its buildings. Attacking them with rockets or bombs might result in destroying buildings we seek to capture. Therefore, it is highly recommended to use GUV-8700 gun pods ONLY and ONLY the 7.62 mm guns or the 30 mm grenade launchers. 12.7 mm guns seem to destroy some buildings if used a lot, so refrain from using them when attacking the enemy at the village! Capturing the 5 highlighted areas at the village (see image), (check out the F10 map) is done by deploying troops on the ground. For that purpose CTLD is enabled. Note that you can deploy up to 5 squads ONLY! Each squad consists of 8 riflemen, 2 MG's and 2 RPG's. You don't have to deploy all 5 squads to get the job done. 1 squad could be enough if good CAS is provided. The mission fails if all 5 squads are lost. Important Note: The F10 map is not used for navigation. That means your helicopter and friendly helicopters are hidden on the map. However, deployed troops can be seen on the F10 map for players to assign tasking and waypoints to if needed. Basically, you can deploy your squads outside of the TA, assign waypoints to them and have them attack the TA while providing CAS. Make sure you don't lose your helicopter while staring at the F10 map. Fly high enough and away from obstacles when doing that. ------------- Objective 3: Deploy troops on a mountain peak south of the TA to secure the area (check out the F10 map). The area is highlighted by green smoke. ------------- Objective 4: There are 4 containers weighing 2200 kg (4850 lbs) each on the Moskva (see image). Sling load 2 containers to the highlighted mountain peak to establish an EWR site. Losing 3 or more containers results in failing the mission. Rope's length: 15m ******************************************************************************************** Communications: CV Kuznetsov: 127.5 MHz (tuned by default) Mission Editor: - If you choose to replace the Mi-8's with other types of helicopters or add some, make sure you edit the 176 - 179 lines in the CTLD script. - Also, make sure you edit the warehouse of the CV Kuznetsov to allow those helicopters to spawn. * The mission's file has been updated. Sorry for the inconvenience, but those who have downloaded the file will have to do it again: Pagan Island Invasion.miz
  11. Who knows what the future beholds. You never know, mate
  12. Yeah, you better place them all next to each other, or, run the mission 3 times in a row, but every time with a different EWR power setup and see if they respond all the same or differently. That's the better way to do it.
  13. I always went with 100. Sometimes 50, and when it I tested it years ago, it had made no difference. Not sure if that has changed now.
  14. I wish you and others hadn't really refrain from checking out the server, despite a possible lack of knowledge and/or experience in DCS, or doubting one's skills. The server gained that reputation of being tough, hardcore, demanding, having realistic setups, etc. (and these are words players used to describe the server with, not me claiming it to be) throughout the years, which led to some almost "dreading" checking it out. I was very demanding, and that's true, and pushed players to new places in DCS, but it was all done in an attempt to get the most out of it. I guess, it's a natural consequence when asking so much of players when they could go elsewhere and just do what they want, which is fine, but I wanted something else out of DSC. After all, this ain't War Thunder (with all due respect) or any other game/simulator. DCS is simply the best and I, for my own taste, felt it was still missing something in the multiplayer world of it. It's either stressful and intense or simply not my cup of tea. But that's just me, and obviously the crazy ones like me who stuck around for so long
  15. Red won operation Six Towns: 16 players were flying at one point. It was 10-12 players for the most part, which is more than enough for a scenario like this. Here's the butcher's bill: Note: Not sure why the counter didn't count any air-to-air kills, but there were quite a few. Red helicopters, especially Ka-50's, shot down most Blue helicopters.
