  1. Well I've got a HP with Dual Core 2.16 ghz Intel cpu, ATI HD 3430 and 3gigs of ram, and it runs LO somewhat OK, with some high settings but the default LO terrain. Haven't tried DCS on it yet. With the ATI 4530 though you should be in a better position to run DCS at higher level of details :) I'd even recommend looking for a model with 4650/70 which are much faster! The others said 4gb ram is better, but even 3 will do, on most models you can expand it later. And stick to an Intel dual core CPU, running at least at 2 Ghz...
  2. haha, each forum has a troll, and we've got ours... When was the last time you played F4:AF. I mean the stock version with the stock textures. Yeah it runs great (despite a decent amount of graphic bugs and glitches that need tweaks - but hey americans made it so its great right? :D ). And yes the LO:FC engine is not perfect, and so what. You need a quite powerful system to run it at max, and so what? Things are the way they are, period. As I see you are complaining about something, and when you are proven wrong, you just change the subject. When again you're overwhelmed with facts, you either jump back to the previous and start repeating or change to something new... It is starting to get funny. I'm not reading your post seriously anymore, and its kinda funny :D
  3. If I have to choose, I'd say, the **** with trees and full cities with 60fps, i want better(more realistic) missiles. If you only want nice scenery, go play HAWX. And by the way, your Athlon is not powerful enough so that the GTX260 can really show what it can do. And in a very-CPU dependant game like lock on the results as you see are far from spectacular. You know it's not only the frequency of a processor that counts. A Core i3/i5 even running at 2.4 Ghz will vastly outperfrom your Athlon X2 @ 3Ghz! Even in games that use only 1 cpu, newer designs are much more efficient and for a lower clock provide better performance.
  4. And did they say that you can absolutely max out the settings with the recommended config? I don't think so... It's recommended for somewhat medium settings at somewhat moderate resoliution. In case you don't know how 3d games are rendered, the more resolution and details you put in, the performance power needed grows in a geometrical proportion. So no one will tell you exactly what config is needed, it depends on so many things. It's just, the more performance you have, the better...
  5. =124Sq=Zeljava, This is the way things are. If you don't like it, then sorry. No one will make you pay 15$ if you don't want to. And no one said it will fly like the wind. It's a flight simulation, it's expected not be as light performance wise as Mario bros. I bet you can't play for example Crysis or the latest stalker at max settings, but you continue to rant here about ED and FC.
  6. As I'm not into MySQL and php, I cannot help with them. But at a later stage, when for example everything is ready, up and running, there is a need for localization of the rules or anything else, that's an area I can take part in :) I'm also thinking about some small (hmm what's the word) php scripts or smth, that enable the stats to be shown in another website just like TCL ladders are displayed on lockonfiles. So each squad may add a small window showing the current for example Top 10 stats right on their site. But these are things that can be done at a later stage :)
  7. A great idea Case! And looks great even now in its early stages... You've got our full support on this! And why not put it on lockonstats.com or something similar ;)
  8. It's a common problem with track playback as far as i know. Don't worry, as suggested restart the game and play the track again. I have also seen different missiles being shown on planes(I loaded and used R-77s and the track shows R-73s) and other weird stuff. :)
  9. Here is the file i use. However due to the old utility(change.com) that this approach uses, there are some limitations... The operating system should not be 64-bit and the path to the game must not contain any spaces. If your game installation path does contain spaces, you can copy it to a simpler location like D:\Games\Lockon and it will still work. Installation, you just put the files from the archive in your root Lockon folder and make yourself a shortcut to launch.bat. When clicked, it changes the value in graphics.cfg to 1.6 (if your aspect ratio is different, just right click launch.bat select Edit and change the value). Then it clears TrackIR ini files and launches the game. Simple as that :) Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?w1jjkwtlofc p.s. I even made myself a file that does the same when HLobby is started... cause obviously, you' can't make HL start the game using launch.bat. However the same restrictions about OS and path apply. HL launcher: http://www.mediafire.com/?mzzywijtkna Put it in the root Hlobby folder, right click launch.bat and edit the path to your game.
  10. Or as I read here on the forums, you could make a .bat file that fixes that for you, and launches the game. My file even cleans up the TrackIR ini files. You just start the game through that file instead of the usual shortcut. If someone is interested i may post it here.
  11. 4 cores at 2.4 ghz, mean that you have 4 cores, each operating at 2.4Ghz. You should not divide that number(the frequency) or multiply it as some do. If the game uses only one CPU, as Lockon, then for it, you have one CPU at 2.4 ghz. And yes the game only uses one core, but the rest may be entertained by doing other common tasks like running windows load, calculations for freetrack/trackIR... or just idle :)
  12. Well if they got some R-73's in a head to head engagement you're in huge trouble against them. Try firing your sparrows at a closer range, like 9-10 miles, it should be harder for them to decoy them, and also do not attack them in head to head with only AIM-9's left. The 73 has much bigger range and Pk. Try to separate them and attack from safe angles.
  13. I think that would be my ET :P At that exact moment I had just lost all of my SA, however saw a bandit 14 or so clicks away, by the time I locked and fired i was much closer, and was saying my prayers too... Luckily I escaped unharmed... S!
  14. Once again, you've outdone yourself... Spectacular shots, great work!
  15. Well, to slow down is a good advice... here is basically what I sometimes do with R-77's(doing it with 120s should be not much different). I fire at <=30 km or at the moment he fires at me(whichever happens first), then I crank say left, in the same time i start a steep -35/40 deg dive on idle and with my air-break extended. This way I still got good airspeed, and I am making sure my missile gets to the bandit before his gets to me. I'm also diving into denser air, which slows down the bandit's missiles even more. Doing this properly will assure, you're missiles go active before his, thus allowing you to bank left, pull and extend at full burners and safely evade/outrun his missile, while he is left to deal with yours.
  16. My squad flies MiG-29 only, does this answer your question? And yeah good for you, and congrats on your skills.
  17. Where did you read that I can fly it properly. I'm a MiG pilot and am sticking to it, but I know some people that are quite good with the Su-33. Yet you don't wanna discuss anything, just continuing your bla-bla non-sense. Go play 1.02, score 34 kills and be an ace :) Not gonna reply to pointless posts anymore...
  18. Well it's not that hard to outrun a missile. Even at less than 20km, with an appropriate manouever, you can safely outrun almost any missile. What is it so hard to believe? Read a bit about missile energy and kinematics. When fired, your missile has only a few seconds of powered flight, it's motor burns the fuel quickly. And then it begins slowing down, while the fighter, probably still some 10km away from it continues to accelerate and dive low, in the denser air, which slows the missile even more. Lol, you playing Air-Quake? The 33 in 1.12 is not as bad as you describe it... Probably you just don't know how to use it properly...
  19. In order to shoot, on most planes you should first get LA (Launch Authorized). In order to get LA on A2A missile for example, you should find the bandit with the radar (or EOS on russian frames) Lock him, and wait for him to get inside weapons envelope zone. A short LA(or ПР on the russian version of the game) will appear on your HUD, and you can then fire your missile. Want to learn how to do the above things? Start with the game's manual located in your main Lockon folder\Docs...
  20. Guys, calm down... Yes the Eagles soar high and shoot from far away, Yes they have the advantage in this case, and Yes in FC2 this may be even more pronounced. And so what?!? Speaking as a long time LO MiG driver, if you keep your eyes open, those eagles are not such a problem. You may not have the advantage of First-look first-shoot, but you can very well defend yourselves against them. And if you're flying as a team, you can then press those eagles, once you have extended and escaped from their first missiles. One more thing - a better equipped enemy will only make the game of killing him more challenging and thus more rewarding! And that's a price worth paying in my own view...
  21. You can still go much higher, with the MiG or the Eagle. You just need to manage your energy better. First climb slowly on burners and accelerate your plane to max speed at 12 500/13 000m and then pull up to try and go ballistic :) Here is screenshot of the highest I've been (27 000m), others may have been even higher.
  22. Yeah, thanks Crunch, I didn't make myself clear enough about that, sorry.
  23. It's an exploit available in LO:FC If you keep pressing Printscreen you appear to be lagging in the other people's game so you're a kind of invincible for their missiles/gunzo shots, just teleporting all over the screen. However this can easily be tracked and recorded in tracks/ACMI and the exploiter be given a deserved kick/ban ;)
  24. You may start here: http://bgspotters.net/constructor.php?c=search&subm=3&form_AicraftGenericType=%CC%E8%EA%EE%FF%ED%20%C3%F3%F0%E5%E2%E8%F7%20%CC%E8%C3-23 There are lots of MiG-23 shots from the Bulgarian Air Force, some show quite good the nozzles, and the gear(which by the way may give you a hard time modelling, because it's a quite complex system...)
  25. Great! By the way, if you need photos i may provide you with some, and there is also an airforce museum only 40km from here, and there are both MiG-23BN's and 23MLD's, so if there is a specific detail you wanna model, i may go and shoot it for you... As soon as the temperatures rise... -15 to -20 now Grrr
