Same situation here. Using the method briguy3 linked to did a test between hotfix 1 and 2. Idle at airfield fps went from 120 to 45. Same map, same mission, same graphic settings. Win7 64, i5 4670k, GTX 760

Same problem here. Have been trying to get some single player campaigns in while the bugs are being ironed out but cannot make any progress. At first this bug seemed to happen about 50% of the time but now it's happened the last 10 out of 10 tries. Extremely frustrating, there's got to be a workaround. Have been quitting to desktop and reloading the game in case it's an issue with memory leak. Doesn't seem to change anything on this issue. Have read in another thread about hitting the QUIT button twice quickly. Am going to try that and see how it goes. Have any of you noticed while pressing Ctrl + Z / LShift + Z that the DCS logo (the one that appears when the game first launches) pops in and out as if it's continuing to be rendered underneath the 3D world?

Disabling shadows completely appears to work as a stop gap fix for this specific crash.

Single player, create fast mission, select FC3 aircraft Crashes at (seemingly) random times. Often right after take off, sometimes before engine startup, sometimes after a few minutes of flying. Managed to fly the sortie and land once after multiple attempts without having this specific crash. In that case the game locked up without giving a specific error when I pressed the ESC key. Upgraded to latest video driver from nvidia, no change. Same thing for Su-27 RIGHT_MFCD which is the heads down radar display behaves with the same problem as described above. Was previously working fine before 1.5

Yeah it's very confusing to have it not work like the instructor says it should. Wastes a lot of time trying to figure out what you're doing wrong only to find out it's borked. Probably not the best thing for retaining new people who just picked up the game.
