  1. This was on another thread, I'm separating it to its own thread to conform to bug reporting guidelines. Recently the [ctrl]+[`] key binding to toggle to next waypoint in the Su25 stopped working. Likewise the [shift]+[`] to toggle back to the previous waypoint has also stopped working. To be specific, it almost always eventually works, but only after pressing the keys numerous times. On a rare occasion it works on the first try, but usually it takes anywhere between 3 to 10 tries. I have tested the ctrl key on my keyboard BTW. Its not the key.
  2. When I put the Su25T in any Auto Pilot mode that holds the altitude, it first takes a very deep dip before leveling off. Sometimes it climbs instead, but usually dips. Sometimes it dips several hundred meters, causing a crash. When its a small fluctuation, it seems natural but the large dips definitely seem like its either a bug or its a actual flaw in the real Su25T that ED just faithfully reproduced....;)
  3. That's just.....Bull! Thanks for that lead, I love this sort of stuff. It's what separates simulations from games! If I constantly know where I am in reference to Bulls Eye that is more than half the problem solved right there! Like Pied says it might not be that accurate *instantly* but its enough information to be able to decide where to turn . With enough practice I should be able to get a mind's picture of the whole area plotted into very rough cortesian values. :pilotfly:
  4. Illumination No, I don't think they worked then either. I think the illumination was there but not where it was supposed to be. To me appears like the AI doesn't calculate for wind when they launch them. On that mission, and on this one we were talking about, I noticed that they were drifting way off the target, even if they were lit.
  5. Steam I didn't mean to hate on Steam, I have many other games with them but I realized when I first tried to buy The Republic Campaign that it's just easier to have the ED version of DCS if I want to have access to everything that ED puts out as soon as possible.
  6. Using the HSI I just realized that using the PVI 800 navigation system will allow me to punch in the Coordinates of the Bulls Eye then set the HSI to indicate that as a waypoint. This will let me at least know where I AM in reference to Bulls Eye in order to call out MY Bearing/Distance/Elevation. BUT this is still not helpful or practical to figure out locations of other people or targets that are called out to me. Of course if I am playing alone I can always pause the game and figure it out somehow, like going to MAP screen and using a protractor (lol) like I mentioned earlier but I'm sure real fighter pilots have a much quicker way of figuring this out. Also the PVI 800 is only in the Black Shark correct? How do DCS pilots of other planes do it? Is it just mental gymnastics that real life fighter pilots perform in this regard, and just figure it out on the fly in their heads?
  7. I am quite familiar with the concept and the trig involved in real life, but I was wondering how you all coordinate with bulls eye in DCS. Do you hit F10 to map, and then put a protractor on the screen? Half joking/half serious here. This will give you good angles but does the DCS map have reliable grid or scale reference for plotting the distance to object? I suspect using an advanced system like the Abris on the Black Shark may have a solution to this, but I don't know and that is why I am asking. How do you all calculate your own vector from Bullseye quickly to call out to your squad and how do you all use Bullseye calls to determine locations of your wingmen and targets? Maybe there is a really simple in-game method of doing this that I am missing?
  8. Steam does have DCS 1.5. You have to go to the Steam Library, DCS game properties and "opt in", so its not visible up front, but its there. But beta modules are not there.
  9. Honestly, I would just get rid of the Steam version of DCS World and get the ED version instead. I am sure there will be more stuff in the future that you will just have to wait for on Steam. I just did this in order to play the Republic Campaign, until then i didn't know the two versions were incompatible. All your modules from Steam will be automatically added to the ED version of DCS world. I didn't even have to go look for key or anything.
  10. Completed! Thank you both! Instead of following the Brief and following the route speed and way points, I just decided to go straight to the Ingress point as fast as I can. This gave me a little more time in the light. First I took care of all the armor units that can shoot back (apc's, ifv's etc). Then I took care of the MBT's, directing my wingman to "shoot my target" for the couple of them that remained after I ran out of my Viks. After that I just took care of the Grads and Akatsias with my 30mm AP's with the help of my wingman who at that point just let loose. And yes I am a bit of a completionist so I usually follow all the waypoints/navpoints and at the defined speed. I guess I had to bend the rules a bit this time but I am happy. Cheers.
  11. :helpsmilie:I cannot complete this mission! I've flown it 6 times.:helpsmilie: PROBLEM; It gets dark very quick as soon as I get there and my laser stops locking targets. PROBLEM; My wingman, if i let him loose on "ground targets" starts wasting his Viks' on the trucks, not any armor, presumably because they are closer. And I need both our rockets to get all the armor; MBT's and the IFV's and the APC's. I know I can kill the IFV's and APC's with the 30mm AP rounds, but i have to get much closer to use them, in within range of them. PROBLEM; The parachute dropped illumination missiles very rarely actually illuminate the target area. Related to PROBLEM 1. PROBLEM; I don't actually know what the mission complete criteria is. Brief says elliminate armor as a primary objective, but what armor exactly? Couple times I elliminated all the parked MBT's, the GRADs, and the AKATSIAs but I still couldn't complete the mission. Anybody have any experience with this mission?
  12. Other Black Shark issues Oh if that's the case then my bad. Will check it out now. Just wanted to report another issue. After missiles are launched, the empty pods/tubes do not show the empty graphic state when in external view. So for example when a Vikhr is shot, the tube remains closed, when before the cap in the front will be open and from the right angle you can see through the tube. Same with the rocket pods. Also, and I know this is certainly not new to this patch or even 1.5, but my Wingman has started to claim "unable" or "negative" when directed to either engage my target, engage air defenses, or engage ground targets. I have read about this issue in the past but it is happening to me for the first time. (obviously discounting times when the wingman is damaged or for other obvious reasons....this is happening to me when we just arrived at the mission AO and we had not taken any fire yet...)
  13. I cannot say for sure if this update is the cause, I was away for a couple weeks. The labels inside the Black Shark cockpit and some map names have reverted back to Russian. I have no qualms with this, I learned to fly the original Black Shark when it was all Russian, but just wanted to bring it up to view.
  14. I had the Steam DCS 1.5, and realized that it wasn't compatible with the ED DCS when I tried to download this campaign. So, I uninstalled the Steam version and installed the ED version. I could have had both installed simultaneously, apparently, but why bother? Steam gets all their stuff from ED anyway, but later, so in a way its a no brainer. But I still don't understand why the Steam version would be any different. It's free, and its only there for modules to be added on. Where I buy the modules (or campaigns) shouldn't really matter. But hey, I'm sure there are good reasons.
  15. Mission: Cleanup I was doing fine - perfect in fact - until this mission. But now I find myself having to redo this one mission about 5 times now. AND its starting to piss me off. There is one Manpad that keeps spawning, in range and ready to fire, and even after a few tries and knowing where he generally appears, he is too quick for me to move my gun on him and fire before he does. And of course there is the AI super power of seeing and shooting through trees while I can't. (well, maybe I can shoot through them but not much point if I can't see him) Ok granted that having blue icons indicating about what and where my enemies are is not wholly realistic, but I also think having a unit spawn out of thin air in range to shoot me is even more so. So I'm pissed off because of this one Manpad- not only because he's making this mission very difficult for me, but also because his existence (spawning) is making my game seem very unrealistic. And we all know to have fun in this game we need to keep ourselves in our little pretend bubble of reality, not have something constantly burst it. Is there a way to take this damn little green blob of Igla-carrying pixelated annoyance out of my game? (and out of my bubble?) On another note, because of this incident I've noticed that in this Campaign if I don't succeed a mission it doesn't carry on with different circumstances like with the stock Campaigns that came with the Ka50 or DCS World (Su25t). I just have to keep redoing the mission but with my Campaign tally continuously looking worse as far as success ratio etc. But this got me thinking. The Republic campaign claims to have "different story arcs", how does this happen if there is only one mission accomplishment criteria?
  16. Swastika My 2 cents, I grew up in Japan, where swastikas have nothing to do with Nazi's. Swastikas were, and still are in most parts of the world, a symbol associated with peace and prosperity in Buddhism. The Nazi's borrowed this symbol, they didn't create it. And this is a good example of why I am against sensorship of any kind. It usually does more harm than good, in the name of not offending a few people. Anyway, I also am in the camp of wishing they made the Republic campaign with real country names. But really its not that big a deal. Now, back to my game as Ronin....
  17. It was because....Steam Found out what it was, I needed to install the non-Steam version of DCS World. It didn't occur to me that DCS World would be different between Steam and non-Steam versions. I thought Steam was just one outlet for DCS and its modules with no difference whatsoever between them. Oh well, now I have two versions of DCS but I think I will uninstall the Steam version and stick with one. It doesn't make sense to have both when Steam is delayed in putting out new content. Thanks all.
  18. Cannot Buy Republic Campaign Thanks. I believe I am running 1.5 Open Beta, at least I opted in to it, it has the new intro screen layout and better graphics. How do I confirm? Edit; Yes I am running the Open Beta.
  19. When I go to E Shop and click download this comes up; "Sorry, but the file list of the product is currently not available. Product may be currently available in DCS World Open Beta version only." How do I purchase this DLC?
  20. Module Manager So after looking up the Module Manager on the Wiki, and like you said, it is for installing. It appears I still need to actually purchase the product first. The DCS E-shop says the file does not exist, it won't let me buy it. Edit; It says the file is "not available".
  21. Campaign download is not available. Went to DCS website to buy, but it says; "Sorry, but the file list of the product is currently not available. Product may be currently available in DCS World Open Beta version only." I click on the DCS World Open Beta link and it just takes me to the DCS world 1.5 page. What does this mean? While I am here also would like to ask, I have Steam version of DCS world, but also currently participating in the 1.5 open beta through steam. Is any of this a problem?
  22. I was wondering about that too... Having no autopilot lights is a problem, because I cannot tell what is on and what is not. This is a much bigger deal than it sounds especially when in a hectic situation and I suddenly feel like the plane isn't doing what I want it to do. I cannot tell at a glance if it's the AP trying to control the plane or if something is broken, or if actually nothing is broken and the AP is off and the plane is just acting the way its supposed to.. Simply put, its a pain in the ass and shouldn't be necessary to have to guess what AP is on if any, by what control surfaces are responding to my input or not. It also appears that in the Su33 there is a thrust controller toggled by "J" but which seems to come on when other AP modes are activated. When I try to deactivate the thrust control only by pressing J it doesn't seem to work. Off course I can't actually look at the AP buttons and confirm since there is no indication.
  23. Hi all, I just noticed something very weird with the track/recording feature that may be something or nothing at all. First to quickly bring you up to speed about me, I have been playing DCS casually for a few years now from the first Black Shark years, but I have never really paid much attention to the nitty gritty of things like the Editor or Track features. Recently with the excitement surrounding the upcoming 2.0 I started to get into it a bit more, and also just bought FC3 after only ever having played BS in the past. So what I'm about to point out may be something very stupid on my part or a long known issue, if so my appologies; To try to keep it short, basically last night after an epic AI mission on my newly acquired FC3 I decided to save the track of that game for the first time. This morning when I opened that track to view it, at first everything looked just like how I played it last night. I remembered the game pretty well down to the details, even how at the start my Su27 started to Yaw continuously as I put it onto Enroute Autopilot, because I made a mental note to check on the cause of that at the time. The Track Recording followed what I remembered of last night's game pretty well until after the 3rd turning point, when suddenly the Su27 I was supposed to have been flying just started to do stuff I have no recollection of and it eventually got shot down. I cannot say exactly at what point it stopped being the recording of last night's game and became something else but that's what happened. It's as if it started off as my recording then was taken over by an AI or another player... Then later today something else happened related to the Track; At the end of the 3rd mission in the MiG-29 campaign "Over the Hump" included in FC3, I decided to watch the track over again because I wanted to see how my AI wingman died. When I clicked to watch it, something "started" but it just cut off after a minute or two into the replay. I tried a couple times but the replay would just cut off at the same spot and would not progress any further. THEN, when I looked at the Campaign progress, what had been 3 missions completed at 100% rate had now become 4 missions complete at 88% rate, as if my trying to replay that Track had been added on to the mission somehow. So anyway, its been bugging me all evening and I thought I would try to explain this the best I can. I have no idea if it's a bug or something stupid I'm doing or overlooking....
  24. Ditto Frame rate drops progressively as vikhr missile approaches target, and seems to be at the lowest at impact. I experience this on both Ka50 and Su25.
  25. Could someone be good enough to provide a little more detailed instruction (and maybe make it a sticky while at it) on how to ; 1. Find the "Track" files, 2. Take and find screen shots, 3. Find the DCS World log. ....or any other pertinent information related to bugs or crashes that may be valuable to the relevant people, as Sithspawn requested in the FAQ. :book: For example I tried to find the "DCS World logs" but could not find neither "saved games" nor "logs" file as mentioned in the FAQ.
