You're welcome! I made this version too for the 'Hip' but superimposed the model to the Ka52 and tweaked a few parameters so it can serve as a gunship as well: As usual, the real helicopter: I'm having trouble making helos attack ground moving units such as vehicles, though... any idea why?

There you go: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10215

Thanks, everyone! Release the 'Hind' skin? Hmmmmmmmm... yeah, why not? Like a small teaser, so to speak. Let me give it the final touches and I'll upload it to Lockonfiles or whatever within the next few hours so you can have it, too. Here's another 'remake'... ok, I know it's not that exciting, being a boring utility helicopter and all... but I'm taking real pride in this one. Again, Tomcatz's models are so much better than the vanilla ones I knew I had to work my magic on this one as well: Damn, the 'Hip' is so ugly! But sexy in its 'uglyness', nonetheless: Too bad it's only mapped to one side, but it doesn't look that bad from the other side, now, does it? Oh, I almost forgot: the real thing for comparison:
-
I stumbled across Tomcatz's LockOn4Ever 2.0 by pure chance and decided to give it a try just for fun and it's SO AWESOME!!! Kind of makes you feel you're not in Lock-On anymore but in the real deal. And I fell in love with his 'Hind' right away, so much that I knew I had to make a skin for it  THE REAL THING: I'm getting some help in order to finish this mod because there's NO WAY I'll be able to complete it on my own.
-
No, it hasn't been released yet. I'm trying to put a pack together to release what I have completed so far.
-
Well the mod got a bit 'left behind' for RL reasons but I'm hoping to release a beta in the following weeks (right after our national holidays). Lots of things have changed and been improved, I'm willing to add some "flyables" so ops against a human OPFOR are possible. For instance, I'm making the F-16C flyable using the MiG29G cockpit: It works great - model is correctly displayed, weapons and hardpoints work great - except for the two plumes coming out of the back of the jet while on reheats, which looks ankward: Any ideas on how to fix it?

Project New Su-27 by 3GO WorkGroup
MiGgressor replied to SkieRider's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
How in the world did I miss this??? That Flanker is sexy! Congratulations, great, great job! PS: any chance for a two-seater version? :music_whistling: -
Espero que sí, al menos eso era parte del plan original. Lo más probable es que solicite ayuda para la creación de la campaña y misiones individuales, así como para beta testing... pero eso será una vez que termine todo el trabajo de texturado de unidades y la programación respectiva.
-
Making a 3D model requires a fair amount of skill many of us simply don't have (and challenging enough to deter many of even attempting to do so on their own) for you to worry about that. Your model looks great and is a product of hours of hard work and dedication. Never mind if the one we have in LOMAC "looks better" than yours or not, I don't think that's important, what's important is that you're satisfied with your work. There will always be room for improvement but I think your model looks great as it is.
-
That would be nice! Let's see how things make progress once the mod is in the beta testing stage. Anyway, here's one of the last OPFOR units, the UH-60 Blackhawk utilitary helicopter for Chile: Thank you Ross, much appreciated!

Unfortunately it does, as new countries and their respective units, unit loadouts, etc had to be assigned. Compatibility with CAW would require massive MEinit editing. It's not impossible but would demand hard and time-consuming work. I'll see what I can do but later on: my priority right now is to finish the skins. I wouldn't like my mod ruining anyone else's LOFC mod experience but that's one of the limitations of the current software. In any case, I will make it ModMan compatible so you can install it or uninstall it at will.
-
The only stupid question is the one that's never asked :) I haven't really thought about it as I'm not a CAW user, but I could eventually think of it as a possibility. I'm making it compatible with SimMod's A-10 and Walmis' F-15, for the time being. Thanks! Not that I'm aware of. I had seen Hawg11's Nevada terrain but I'm not aware of processes or modding tools required for making a new terrain in LOFC. Even so, it's beyond my current capability right now - making skins and coding everything in LOFC is hard and time-consuming enough... I can't imagine myself undertaking the making of a terrain on my own! I wouldn't know where or how to start, anyway... Would be nice if anyone out there accepted the challenge, though

Starforce Protection, any problems?
MiGgressor replied to Victorious1's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Naaaaahhhh, that's an urban legend. Starforce will not cause any damage to your system. I have had Flaming Cliffs for a long time and never experienced any problems with Starforce: I just load the CD whenever I'm asked to and the programme launches without any inconvenience. If for some reason Starforce does not recognise your FC CD as "valid", it will simply not launch FC and ask you to re-check your CD, try again or quit. It will not shut down your computer or anything like that. That's just a scary story someone came up with. Installing Starforce in order to play Flaming Cliffs is mandatory. But removing it is optional and quite possible. There is a small utility programme called "Starforce remover" that will let you uninstall Starforce from your system (search Google for it). Even as Starforce installation is a must for you to play FC, a window pops up saying that it is necessary for SF to be installed, but you can choose not to install it at that point (so you know it's being installed, is not as the software installs itself without you even noticing it). However, if you try to run FC, SF setup will advise you to install it in order to play. -
Enhanced MiG29 pilot skin:

Awesome mod, thanks!

Finally! MiG29 custom pilot:
-
OMG OMG OMG!!!! Outstanding work, Tomcatz!!!!!
-
Thanks, shaggy! It's already being finished right now and since it is one of the most important player-controlled aircraft in the mod, you'll get the MiG29 in two flavours (this particular skin and the new two-tone blue combination air superiority one). Thanks mate! We have 19 MiGs in service right now: 14 MiG29S (Russian index 9-13S) and 2 MiG29UB two-seaters acquired second-hand from Belarus as well as 3 MiG29SE, export variant index 9-13SE acquired brand new from Russia. 21 MiGs were originally purchased between 1995 and 1996, but two of them were lost in accidents (one of them during a night training exercise atributed to pilot loss of situational awareness and the other due to engine failure at low altitude - fortunately no one was killed as pilots ejected safely on both occasions). A contract with RAC MiG was signed late last year to upgrade eight aircraft - two -UB and six -S - to a standard similar to -SMT (and since the upgrade is being tailored to specific Peruvian Air Force requirements, it's been dubbed as -SMP, "P" for "Peru"). Upgrades shall include the introduction of HOTAS and at least one large format MFCD in the cockpit, a heavily modified N109 radar with components from the Zhuk-ME, new KOLS Article-13M optronic sensor, state-of-the-art electronic countermeasures suite, RVV-AE compatibility (right now, only jets acquired from Russia can fire the RVV-AE), etc. Yep, a US Air Force team visited Peru a year-or-so ago for conducting exercises with the Peruvian Air Force. F-16 Fighting Falcons from the 4th Fighter Squadron based at Hill AFB, Utah, as well as AEW&C, support and air-to-air refuelling aircraft visited Chiclayo in northern Peru for a full week of exercises not only with Peruvian 'Fulcrums' but Mirage 2000s as well. At the end of the week, several aircraft visited Lima - the city I live in and capital of my country - for an airshow at Las Palmas airbase. Pilots from the Viper West F-16 demo team put up a fantastic demonstration. Our fighter pilots didn't disappoint, as well :) (click for high res) There's no official information on the outcomes of such dogfights (as usual) but off-the-record and from people I know in the military and defence-related media, I'm confident to say our planes and pilots did good. At first, US pilots were getting hammered because they seemed to underestimate their Peruvian colleagues and put their most novice pilots in the seat during the early stages of the exercises to dogfight the MiGs and Mirages... but later on, they weighted up when more experienced US pilots stepped in. All and all, it was good practice for both forces and the chance for Peruvian fighter pilots to get a feel on what it would be like to dogfight the F-16 (as you know, Chile, our neighbour to the south, has F-16 in its inventory, recently acquired from the US and the Netherlands). And they could explore in detail the Fighting Falcon (F-16C/D Block 40 CCIP, similar to the Chilean F-16 Block 50s) as they often flew as backseaters aboard the -D Viper models, even during simulated dogfights.

Still fresh out of the paint shop: Have to finish with some minor touches and details and the pride of our Air Force - and one of the most important "flyables" in this mod - will be done :)
-
Thanks, Vekkinho! Question: would it be possible to make the Mirage 2000 refuel from the IL78M?
-
Peruvian 'Fitters' have undergone several camouflage modifications over the years. And since not a single camo scheme is standard, you will find out there are way too many variations to call one of them "right colours". Only in desert camo there are at least 3 recognisable variations: Two-tone light and dark brown: "Tiger stripe" two-tone light and dark brown: This one has even applications of intermediate brown/"brownish" green on it for a three-tone pattern: (and please take notice I'm only talking about Su22M/UMs acquired in the early eighties here, because the first batches of Su22 'Fitter F' and 'E' jets, purchased from the USSR between 1976 and 1977, flew with an even more different camouflage: ) When the squadron moved from La Joya airbase in the south (desert location) to a more jungle-like environment in northern Talara, the aircraft migrated from desert to jungle camouflage. Even those are so diverse in pattern and colour tone you can't say there is one that could be referred to as the "standard" one: (The tiger nose art is a squadron anniversary application and was only around for a few months): This one has a different light green tone and even the pilot's name written on the front fuselage, which is indeed a rarity: The latest camo worn by our Su22 was this one up until the platform's withdrawn from active duty just a few years ago: ... and this is the one I have chosen to render in Lock-On as I have lots of detailed photos, which I have thoroughly analysed to determine the "right colours" (is not as easy as you may think, as lighting and atmospheric conditions can change dramatically the "true colour" eye perception). (the two last photos correspond to some of the latest Su22 to ever see service in Peru, as they received an MLU after the conflict with Ecuador in '95 - you can see the PPI-26/PPR-26 countermeasures-compatible chaff/flare dispensers, for instance) MiG29 colour applications also tend to vary from one aicraft to the next and even colour tones do not match, even under similar lighting conditions. I have detailed photos and been around Peruvian 'Fulcrums' plenty enough to get a pretty close idea on what the actual camo really looks like: In the image you post, the green is too light; it never gets to be that light, not by chance. The last image in your post, again, is completely wrong. Latest camo on the MiG29 looks nothing like that at all: It's more of a combination between greyish blue and light blue (base) tones, an attempt on air superiority optical camouflage. So anyway, I thank you for trying to contribute but you should better do your research next time.

F-5E is finally done (complete with RWR antennae and emergency arresting hook): ... and maybe unnoticeable but I did some minor upgrades to the Mi25 Hind skin
-
Just downloaded it a few days ago. Fantastic work! That one looks cool! Does anybody know if those (Python 4/5, AIM-9X, etc) are still available?
-
Here's the F-5E, one of the OPFOR units. The Chilean Tigre III upgrade incorporates PGM and BVRAAM capability, so modified loadouts will be available as well: A few more touches and this one will be ready to go :)
