  1. Come on DCS include the Yak-52 on the main DCS version. I don't have enough hard drive space space to have both the beta and so called stable DCS versions installed. I'm not too worried if its not 100% stable or even if its not totally conplete but I'm sure its stable enough. No module is going to be totally free of coding errors.
  2. I thought these were some nice clear pictures of a range of cockpits from Classic aircraft which maybe of interest. Click on them to expand the image. http://www.laboiteverte.fr/21-cockpits-davions/
  3. I just bought the F5E. DCS has fixed it. This plane will take me back to the old Falcon flight sim. jspec3 a couple of tips on the Gazelle if you see this. When entering into a hover use the NADIR to check your ground speed (Vs) is below 18 Km/h. Also before leaving the hover make sure you have switched off the camera tracking and apply some right rudder otherwise you can find yourself spinning around uncontrollably. It a fun helicopter simulation and the single engine's lack of power at high altitude on the Nevada map can sometimes be challenging. The Gazelle is also brilliant using the Oculus Rift CV1.
  4. Same problem here. I emailed the DCS support team but I've received no reply. The maximum bonus I can use for the F5E is $18 and its the same limitation for all other modules. One improvement with DCS at least now they tell us about promotions when they are on and not after they have finished which used to happen. Its just a shame now they are advertising promos which no one can claim.
  5. The Nadir Doppler switch position are unreadable when using the Oculus Rift CV1 even after increasing pixel density in DCS, which can slow performance. It would be nice if the text can be improved. The same I think for the switch above but its not quite as bad from memory (?). Other text on the Nadir is fine. This should be a simple fix. The Gazelle is my favourite aircraft for use with the CV1 at the moment. The headset really brings out the model details, nice job PolyChop.
  6. Nice to see most people going for the Super Hornet. But personally I'd like to see an accurate simulation of the Harrier, any version.
  7. Any chance DCS can open up their development environment to the public so we can development out own aircraft.
  8. Any one saying don't bother with A2A Simulations new accuspin models is really mssing out these are the best WWII piston aircrafy simulations on the market I have the P-47 and Spitfire. The only real omission is not being able to dog fight them. I hope DCS pays special attention to the sounds. I also hope DCS have an antagonist to the Mustang under development.
  9. Just to add my piece. BS feels right to me, it does take a bit of practice and you do need to spend a little time adjusting your setup. I also fly RC helicopters, although there is some similarity to full scale helis, without doing the maths common sense dictates, particularly in terms on inertia, they are going to behave very differently. Does anyone have a comparison written by a genuine Ka-50 pilot? Just to add, for those wanting to fly twitchy RC aircraft a brilliant Flight Simulator is: http://www.realflight.com/ Thanks GGTharos for your reply below.
  10. Buying the printed manual from DCS was fast with delivery in the UK from the Warbirds collection. Nice to have but not essential. Nate--IRL--- I'd cancel your order from Amazon and buy direct. Its late my English (native language) is failing me.
  11. Happy 40th Anniversary to the Harrier, one of these days there will be a decent simulator of this aircraft, possibly long after its been decommissioned. Any other pics would be good, particularly cockpit shots which are rare.
  12. Thanks for the replies, this is a good forum. I'm looking forward to the A-10C. It will be nice to have a bit of CCIP bomb toss action, and be able to go into a steep dive without your rotors coming off. The A-10C also has a big gun, I am sounding very sad.
  13. Unsure which version of the A-10 DCS is working on? How much will this cost? How realistic will be the start-up (ramp up) sequence? Are their any official plans to expand the detail around the Blacksea or release a totally new map when the A-10 is released?
  14. Can the AI see through the trees? Also, I get taken out while hovering low in deep forests by tanks firing through trees, do the trees offer any protection against missile or gun fire? I suspect not which is a great shame, as surely this is a main attack helicopter tactic. We could also maybe have some higher trees in the game, although I've never been to the Caucasus region. To be honest, my exploration of the map has been limited so far. I just saw an earlier thread on this. I can't answer for Soviet block tactics but I've seen plenty of footage of low flying between trees by Nato helicopters. Particularly around the Fulda gap, where large cleared tracts were made in the forests for this purpose to defend against the overwhelming number of tanks the Soviets had in the cold war era.
  15. I just looked at the Flying Legends List, and it looks like the FW 190 is only on static display? Dare I say it, for £30 plus petrol, I may give this year a miss.
  16. Time will tell. I'm all for new aircraft development but the F-35, in all its proposed variants, seems to be one of those political compromises which never quite match expectations. But what do I know, we'll see. At least the Typhoon is now seeing active duty after a very long development period.
  17. Joey, Speed is important for a ground attack aircraft in modern conflicts. You should read some first hand accounts of the current conflict in Afghanistan. The longer it takes for air support to get to you the more lives will be lost. This is one advantage of the F-35 over the Harrier but the Typhoon is better and faster than both. It will be interesting to see how well the Typhoon performs when its sent over there. For long term loitering over the battle field nothing is better than a remotely controlled aircraft. I think the A-10 and the Harrier have sadly had their day. Even ground attack helicopters seem too vulnerable to ground fire. Some accounts I've read have seen Apaches having to leave the battlefield due to the risk of attack by RPGs!
  18. A popular thread, I'm unsure about the F-35, but the future of the UK Fixed Wing Fleet Air Arm will depend on its success. I All this stealth business seems a lot of nonsense to me when what you need in a ground attack aircraft is speed, and the ability to carry a lot of ordinance so it can patrol an area for long periods suppressing enemy ground forces. Other aircraft like the UK Typhoon, also a ground attack aircraft, can look after aerial defence. Does the Navy really need the F-35?
  19. As usual check you have the latest drivers, a fresh install of your OS also helps at least this will get rid of any old drivers you may have installed which maybe conflicting. These days its a good idea to copy an image of a workable set up to a backup drive, it will save you loads of time and frustration. I use Vista Home Premium 64, 4Gb memory, Saitek X52Pro Logitech G15 keyboard and TrackIR 4. Everything works fine.
  20. Re: BS manual, where can I buy & very expensive Any news on where I can obtain the manual in the UK, Amazon are having difficulties obtaining it.
  21. I use a Saitek X52 Pro in windows and Vista 64. New drivers were released quite recently and now I have no problems. I'm still playing around to optimise my configuration, it takes a while to get setup. My TrackIR 4 Pro also works well.
  22. I had a similar problem with an onboard Asus sound card and Vista 64. It must be a driver issue. Do yourself a favour and get a Creative X-Fi card. A bit pricey but it wil fix your problem. I should add my old Asus card worked with BS and Vista 32 but who wants to use a 32-bit OS these days, particularly with the memory contraints it incurs.
  23. Here's a couple of pictures taken at a very windy Duxford Airshow this year of the CH-47 Chinook, just recently returned from Afghanistan. Interior shot of CH-47 pit CH-47 taking off behind a WWII MK IX dual seat Spitfire: Now this would be an interesting challenge for the flight modelers with two separated rotors. But sadly no weapons unless you include a rear gunner. Anyhow, enough of my flights of fancy. The ultimate new model would be the Harrier GR3 (or FRS1), there must be data out there on this aircraft.
  24. Thanks for the replies, its a shame there's not a lot of data out there even on the old Harriers. Maybe DCS can have a chat with BAC (formerly Hawker Siddeley) to see if they would release details of the now obsolete GR3. The promotion can only help Hawkers their sales. I've got to add, the developers have done a great job with the Ka-50. A simulation of the Ka-25 Hormone anti-submarine heli would would be fun in a naval setting. Sometime, I'm going to have to check out your modeling kit if its available yet.
  25. Unsure what the modelling difficulties are for simulating the harrier, it can't be more difficult than simulating a helicopter? Maybe someone can elaborate. But the flight sim community would certainly welcome a ground attack Harrier. Politics aside, a Falklands war flight sim would have been excellent, and maybe answered a few what ifs such as if the Argentinians also had access to sidewinder missiles. Or if the American's had refused to supply them to the British. I wonder how much data is out there for the old Harriers to be accurately modeled? Anyhow, I'm happy with Russian aircraft, maybe the Russian developers could model the Forger VTOL aircraft.
