  1. I now have the sim working. I did a cleanup and repair. and also upgraded my nVidia driver. I can't remember the order I did that in, but believe the driver upgrade from 368.22 to 472.12 was what made the difference. There are a couple of other things. When I first got things working, I seemed to be getting proper SLI performance. However, after using another user's graphics setting recommendations in both the sim and the nVidia control panel, SLI is no longer working. I am wondering if DCS 2.7 will support SLI at this point? I may reinstall my driver, and return DCS to default settings and see how it goes. Lastly, when I first got the sim working, there was a prompt (yes or no selection) to allow ED to collect data--performance related I think. I was still having problems loading missions, so at one point selected 'yes' wondering if that was necessary. I would now like to turn that off, but the option no longer appears at game startup. Is there a way to disable that data collection)? Or would this require a re-install? Thanks for any further help.
  2. I finished the updater download, and when I run DCS it now shows as version 2.7.9.18080. But I still cannot not load any kind of mission, or 'instant action'. It just says something like"loading world 1/60. The app hangs at this point. I did get the option once to close the app after hitting 'esc', but other than that have had to sign out of Windows in order to get back to desktop. I have downloaded two new drivers--472.12, and 497.29 (nVidia). I may install the older of the two, as there are many reports of issues with 497.29. But, I doubt think this is a driver issue. Also, I disabled my CPU overclock--now running at 3.5 default speed. RandomTOTEN said above that I may have to update the base game first. I am assuming that is what I did when I ran updater 2.13.2.109 earlier this evening (somewhere around 60 GB download). Or does this require a complete uninstall, and then a fresh download from the ED site first, after which I would run the updater? Anyways, pretty much the same issue persists, with one difference. When I went to download NTTR it did proceed with a download. I cancelled it as I first wanted to test the sim to see if it would run a mission. any further help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  3. Thanks Maximov. I downloaded the updater ver. 2.13.2.109 and replaced the old one in the bin. directory. I ran it, and it is presently downloading a package of over 60 Gbs. I tried running DCS first to see if I could run the updater from within the game, but found no option for that. So, I just ran it from within the bin. folder. So, is that all there is to it? Just run the updater, maybe an install, and perhaps a need to re-install modules, and terrains(s)? I hope it will all become apparent once I run DCS again. If I need further guidance I will be checking back here with questions--thanks again. I had some of the most fun ever on a PC using lockOn years ago, and DCS World after that.
  4. Hello--I have not run the DCS World software for over a year. I don't remember now, but was likely having issues at that time. Anyways, I am now trying to get the sim working, and need some guidance. I currently have DCS World 2.5.4 installed, downloaded from the ED site 2 or 3 years ago. I had not updated because i live in a remote area where I could not get regular internet. At this time I have better internet, but am not sure for how long. When I run DCS World, if I try to run 'instant action' or 'create fast mission' as a test, it reaches a third loading screen, and then hangs. I could not minimize the sim with alt/tab. 'Esc' key did nothing. Nor could I bring up 'task manager. When this happens I have to sign out of Windows in order to exit the sim. Also, if I go to the module manager, I see a small window that says 'Install modules--you can now install modules'. Below that is 'Nevada Test Training Range' with a check box, and OK or cancel. When I select OK I get a spinning wheel, a green progress bar, and then a new window-- 'DCS Updater 2.9.8.81. "Version 2.5.4.29167 is not available." I do own a legit copy of that terrain, as well as a few plane modules. So, I am wondering how to proceed from here. I am thinking it is a matter of updating the sim to the latest version, but am not quite sure how to do that. I cannot find an entry in the Start menu for 'Eagle Dynamics', and so no DCS updater utility. Also, I cannot find any DCS updater in the games' directory. DCS World is not installed on my C drive, but on a secondary SSD where I install games. I did create a support ticket with ED over a month ago, but received no response. Below are the specs of my machine: Windows 10 Pro 64 bit I75930 OC'ed to 3.9GHZ--default 3.5 GHZ 16 Gbs DDR 4 Ram GTX 970 4GBx 2 sli (driver 368.22)* I am running an older driver to achieve SLI compatibility with 'Metro Exodus"--can update that if needed. HOTAS Cougar controller Track IR 5 I did run my current install of DCS World without issues after initial install. I believe that was on a different computer build. When I built my current rig, I copied my games over to my new SSD. All other games have run without issue. I cannot remember all details of the change over as it was nearly two years ago. Anyways, while I still have an uncapped internet connection I would like to get the sim, my modules, and terrains up and running. If I can get to that point I would likely buy some additional terrain(s)/planes at this point. Sorry for a rather lengthy post--I could not find support for this particular issue in the forums. I am wondering if I should uninstall everything, and start with a new download of the latest DCS World, and then install my modules, and terrains. Or is there another workaround? Please respond asap, as I may be losing my uncapped internet in 7-10 days. Thanks again in advance for any help. I very much look forward to using the sim again. If any further info is needed please let me know. Also, I can upload some screenshots from DCS World if needed. **Edit--I just realized after posting this that my email changed several months ago. That is likely why I received no response from ED. I just successfully updated my email in my account profile.
  5. Hello--I am trying to install the latest version of DCS World (the installer winfow shows 2.9.8.81), and have encountered a problem. Currently, I am getting a message--"shutting torrents down..." When the download first began, I switched to http download. When I lrft it to download overnight there was about 8 GB. downloaded.. Before running the installer I uninstalled DCS Open Alpha 2.0, including any registry entries, folders, etc. for DCS, and ED. I did this because Andrey in tech support said it would be best to start from scratch--at least that is what I understood him to mewn. This morning the download progress window says "shutting torrent down...", and the green bar is just pulsing left to right. The ED folder where the files are going is showing 11.4 GB size at this point, and that has not changed over several houts. Thanks in advance for any help in getting this issue sorted out.
  6. _______________________________________________________________________ Thanks again--I am tempted to get the OB 2.5 now as we are not sure how long the wait for a stable 2.5 will be. One part of your reply concerns me though, and that is re the drive space. Do you mean that if I go to OB 2.5 now, that afterwards when I get the final stable version there will be a new folder created, and 2.5 final/stable will be installed there, but also leaving the OB 2.5 install intact in its' own folder? Space is an issue on my HDD--I am running 3 WD 'Velociraptor' HDD drives of 279 GB each. I had to move things around a bit, and also delete a few things to make space for OA 2.5 on my E:/ drive where it is installed. Currently I have about 60 GB free space there which is enough for the move to OB 2.5, but not enough for two versions of DCS. I do have a 1 Terabyte WD 'Black' HDD which I could resort to if necessary, but would prefer to stay with my current setup if possible. If you could tell me if the move from 2.5 OB to the final 2.5 stable version will result in two DCS folders (probably about 180 GB?), that would be helpful. I am assuming that if I move from current 2.2 OA to 2.5 OB this will not create two DCS folders--is that correct? Could you clarify all of that a bit further? Thanks for any further help.
  7. _________________________________________________________________________ Thanks also Art-J--I did not initially see your reply. Nice to see this version Of DCS finally coming to fruition. I first started using ED software with Lomac Gold I think it was called about 10 years ago. Tried Lock-On Platinum, but could not get it to run on my machine--menus/options were missing in the campaign editor--pretty odd. I got out of flight sims after that for a while, but am now back into it.I also use FSX. My setup includes a Hotass Cougar which still works well, and TrackIR 5. I will likely be upgrading my GTX 580x2 sli cards soon, but they are running DCS 2.2 open alpha at reasonable FPS with medium in-game 'system' settings.
  8. _______________________________________________________________________ JM1--thanks very much for your reply.Good news that I will only have to download around 15 GB instead of 75 or more which I am assuming will be the approximate size of the new install (with both NTTR, and Caucasus). Thanks also for the link. I had things arranged to do the download this weekend coming up. No big deal to change that, but if I were to install the 2.5 Open Beta would the final stable version then be a smaller download as a result, or still around 15 GB? After installing the 2.2 open alpha two weeks ago, when I first ran it I saw the news update, and it said something about DCS 2.2 files would be removed/replaced during updating to 2.5, so that is why I was inquiring. I just ran DCS, and also read the info at that link, and no longer see any reference to removing the 2.2 files. Do you have any approximate idea how long before the release of DCS 2.5 stable version? Besides having to transport my comp twice, would there be there any downside to installing the 2.5 Beta at this point i.e. it won't complicate the install process of 2.5 stable in any way? I guess I'm getting a bit impatient to experience the new Caucasus map. Depending on the time frame re the release of 2.5 stable I would maybe try the Beta version--how is it running for you?
  9. Hello to all--I am in need of some help re downloading/install of the latest version of DCS 2.5. I am wanting to get the latest stable version which includes the Caucasus map, and need a bit of info. So first a little background: On January 28th, on a comp with no previous version of DCS World installed I ran the 'DCS_World_2_open Alpha.exe' file. After that was installed I downloaded and installed the NTTR terrain, and 3 plane modules. The size of the folder is now 61.4 GB. At that time I did not realize that the DCS 2.5 version was about to release or I would have waited. I want to now update everything to the DCS (2.5?) that includes the Caucasus map. My problem is that I do not have home internet--only 7.5 GB mobile data per month. So, when I downloaded the version I now have installed on Jan. 28 I had to take my comp to a friends' home who has regular internet. His internet is slow-- only about 2 Mb/sec. To download the DCS World, NTTR, and plane modules took around 2 days. I am now wondering if I take my comp to his place again do I have to download the whole thing all over again to get the Caucasus map version, or will the files I already have remain intact? How big a download will it be for me at this point if I want to get the new version with the Caucasus map, and still have NTTR and my plane modules as well? I would like to get a stable final version of DCS 2.5--is that currently available? Also, could any one who replies include a link to the file I must run. Thanks for any help.
  10. I didn't read all posts in this thread so don't know if this obvious idea has been mentioned yet. I could not afford a TrackIR either--not a new one anyways. So, I went to Ebay and got a used TrackIR5 in very good condition for around $50. U.S. Aren't they like 3 times that new? People buy them, and then in some cases shortly thereafter they are gathering dust. So onto Ebay they go for cheap. I did have to watch the auctions for a week or two to see that deal come along, and it did not include the hat clip. I still had the hat clip from a previous TrackIR4 I had owned, and sold to a friend. Check it out, and good luck.
