  1. A very pleasant newsletter. Thank you ED for your hard work on so many projects, modules, and terrains. Reading about the PTO Assets Pack really got me excited, as did the new modules in our Free Trial Program. I've done a few parachute jumps from the CH-47C, so it will be interesting to fly F version of this helicopter in Free Trial. (It's a shame, though, because I was expecting the OH-58D to be included in the Free Trial list. Perhaps in the future)

Today we are thrilled to open pre-purchases for the newest, most advanced PC simulation ever made of the C-130J

This isn't the kind of plane I'd prefer to fly, but let's be honest: it seems really well made, with innovative features and the launch trailer is thrilling. Congratulations, great job!!!

The F4U-1D Corsair by Magnitude LLC is progressing well and is now in testing! Its launch will be based on results of careful testing and creating content for it.

These will be a fantastic addition to the upcoming, free, Mariana Islands World War II map.

Really exciting news. thanks to everyone involved in the development of this sim.

  4. After the last update (april 17th) the loading times of DCS and missions have improved slightly. On the other hand the saving times of the existing missions have increased a lot (from 15 to 20 seconds and more). Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? Thanks. (I've only installed official MODs)

  5. Excellent patch. Today I especially want to thank ED for the fixes related to Yak-52. Even though we waited a long time, patience was rewarded. I will use the opportunity to test it on the Afghanistan map, hoping that everything will work. Thanks again.

As we prepare to release the second part of the Afghanistan map, the entire project will benefit from an expanded main map area, albeit at a lower fidelity, to support aircraft carrier operations, catering to you, our most dedicated enthusiasts.

    YES!!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Completing all planned elements of the Afghanistan project represents a significant undertaking, both in terms of workload and time.

and this hard work of your Team is deeply appreciated. Thanks again.

In an ideal world that would be great, but some final checks can only be done on the patch day.

Thanks for the previous explanations, things are more understandable now. We appreciate your hard work to release any planned update/patch.

This video is really gorgeous, can't wait. Thank you very much ED for this superlative update that will make the activities on flight deck much more realistic and immersive. Excellent job!

    Just a couple of questions

    - will these new crew deck features also be available for F-14 and any other aircraft that uses SC?

    - please, will the time ever come for the animated crew deck to be available also on third-party aircraft carriers, for example CV-59 Forrestal by HB? Even for a fee, of course, at least as far as I'm concerned.

Coming soon to the Mission Editor is the ability to group together units, objects, trigger zones, and drawings into a larger group that can be moved as a whole using ‘click and drag’. You can also copy, paste, delete, and rotate them.

    Really interesting. Waiting for it.

    Development Progress

Although a picture of SC was posted, there is no mention of new deck crew animations. Can you say if it is coming soon? Thanks.

There is a slightly more optimized way of doing this.

If you copy your DCS install (before removing the maps) to another location (doesn't matter if it's on an External HDD, NAS, or anywhere you have the space available), you can add a new text file called "dcs_local_source.txt" to your main DCS install, and put in the first line of that the path to the copied install.

Then, when the updater needs to update, it will first look at this source for any available files that it needs prior to downloading them. This means that when you update, any files that haven't changed that don't need to be updated will get sourced locally first - and then it will only download the necessary files. This should stop your update from being any larger than necessary.

    Thanks a lot, great trick.

The thing is, then you unnecessarily removed all files of the map that were not changed by the update and had to download the whole(!) map, again. With map sizes growing, this means you have to juggle a lot of deinstalling and reinstalling unnecessary.

It does make sense to deactivate and remove a map you don't play for a longer time, but to just remove it, to reduce the update size, it's way more efficient to have multiple (smaller) parts, with just the changed files, that you can individually download and unpack/install.

This is exactly what I was happy about, most likely I expressed myself badly. If it were really possible it would mean a great benefit for all users. Thanks.
