Wow I am surprised no one waited for AMD with RNDA3 GPU's coming out in the next month. 4090 seems a great card for 4k high refresh gaming though for the price of an entire new gaming rig (minimum price here in Australia selling for is over 3k and up t 5k for watercooled ones). Given I game at 1440p this card is just ridiculous over the top overpriced not to mention oversized and overweight. But it is super fast and isn't the ridiculous power hog that it had been wrongly speculated. Each to their own but for me it's a big pass. Waiting for Nvidia 4080 (proper variant, not the 4070 in disguise) and AMD's RDNA3 GPU's before I consider pulling the pin.

yeah same here. and tbh this might be the first gen where i dont go team green

Until the WW2 asset pack and maps are free nothing will change. The way the system is set up now is a huge barrier to entry and has stunted the growth of the WW2 player base.

The community has been very vocal about this for years, but ED has been stubborn and set in their ways. WW2 languishes as a result. All of this despite some amazing work with flight and sound modeling, and big improvements to damage modeling. It's really a bit of a travesty that they've stymied themselves with their sales model and done severe damage to the online community and the entire product as a result.

Reasonable suggestion: Make the assets and ww2 maps free and available to play online -- this will help grow the small, stagnant community. Charge for SP and to be able to use them in the mission editor if costs need to be recouped. I feel that ED might ultimately see an increase in sales with this approach, as more people will end up interested in the product and the online community of players and servers is able to grow without any impediments.

Im sorry but this dont fly with me, would you work for peanuts or are you a monkey or elephant? the fact of the matter is quality costs in whatever walk of life. You can not expect DCS quality at said other sims prices. So long and short of it is are you prepared to enjoy a McD's (though lets be honest Ronald would probs make a better FM than JW) or pay a little bit more and enjoy a nice T-Bone steak

You speak on behalf of everyone - if you personally are not happy with someone, it does not matter, I communicate with people - ordinary players. Why are you repeating about the ban? It already works equally, do you feel a pleasant feeling from the feeling of power))?

well he certainly speaks on behalf of me! the thing is if you had done this in a grown up manor and notified the team by DM and actually done it for the good of the server than people would of been grateful. However you chose to try and accuse other people of the community of using this blatant cheat to justify using it yourself. Once the trust has gone with somebody then there is only one logical solution and that is a ban.

  4. One thing that was a real problem during the war for the USAAF and which was the real reason for the implementation of the interlink for the boost and the throttle, was pilots killng the 47s engine by retarding the throttle lever before the boost lever. IF YOU DONT INTERLINK DO NOT RETARD THE THROTTLE LEVER PAST THE BOOST LEVER. ALWAYS BOOST FIRST

It has gotten better. Last I was home I managed to use WEP and the engine held up, the next sortie I did a similar run but slightly closed the oil cowl to just open of neutral to set cruise power and a few minutes later I got a 'degraded engine when I get home again ill see what I can do about a track. Doesnt seem to happen if I just leave the oil full open.

Not sure what's going on as i can and do regularly run at 2750 64" until the water tank is dry. Pilots were also trained to use it like this as well as with doses of 5min intervals. Hell if oil temp and carb temp are good i have even run her at 70" for brief spells of about of a minute (well until my bottle goes 😂). Tbh the only quibble i have with her engine at the mo is the sensitivity in dives, but its not anything that cant be managed. Aso are you warming the engine enough but also how are you warming the engine?

4ya ww2 , www.projectoverlord.co.uk , lots of the old names and lots of new ones flying there now - dcs ww2 aint dead baby 😉https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BORWMNhgRs

Agreed. as a person who has been in dcs ww2 since when we just had the 51, dcs ww2 mp is in its healthiest state ever.  the fact we have 2 compelling mp servers that cater for every type of playstyle is excellent. tbh its up to the community whether dcs ww2 survives and we can not live in the past. if you had said to me that DCS mp would be in this state all those years ago i would of snapped your hand of quicker than the Hungry Crocodile.

you do understand the spotting is limited by the visualization tech, such as LOD's, shading, lighting, and resolution. Making this "realistic" (whatever that means in the context of DCS) is bound to make the experience extremely limited due to the above mentioned visualization problems. I've seen the position was described "targets are in the ORCHARD"... what "orchard" can there possibly be on the MAP in DCS? Is there a nicely fenced patch of land with the trees bearing the apple fruit?  You guys are kidding yourself with this narrow minded position of "realism" and then complain there are no folks using WWII in DCS. One of the reasons why IL2 is popular with WWII is because of spotting capabilities. I flew IL2 for 5 years before switching to DCS, which I love and learning every day, but DCS offers the crappiest spotting capabilities for the aircraft AND ground targets. There reason why there isn't much noise about it because 99% of DCS players fly jets with radars and other computerized targeting tech.

And shove your 'training server' suggestion up yours. Put on a VR helmet and try to find the targets, wise ass.

edit:  I'm giving you guys a constructive criticism and instead of listening to other players the usual unwanted and unsolicited patronizing bull<profanity> ensues.

Most of my squadron friends fly in vr and they often see the ground targets before me on a flat screen. It sounds more of a you problem than a server problem tbh
