  1. Can I get you to confirm that you can get R-60Ms to fire?
  2. Thank you for the reply, nice to know its not just me I setup some dummy targets in the mission editor, and had the same issue, Maby they simulated some aspect of the missile that we are unaware of that's messing us up. my money is its a glitch though
  3. As of update: 1.5.5.59744 I can't confirm for other aircraft but for the Mig 21 it seems The R-60m's do not achieve lock on. I'm certain I am implementing them correctly, Placing the weapons system in Air to Air, Putting the weapon selector on to the appropriate pylon slot, selecting the IR missile switch, and lining up behind an enemy, might as well have yard sticks taped to my wings, no lock no launch. As of yet all other weapons Ive looked at are functioning. Can anyone else follow up on this and confirm or deny the same issue
  4. Has anyone encountered canopy Icing yet? I saw it as a feature, but I have yet to experience it. I read an old post from like a year ago saying it was simulated but currently disabled. Does anyone know the current status of this?
  5. curious, what state is it currently in?
  6. that saddens me, i was really looking forward to trying the plane out. But if its not well developed yet, seems like it would be more annoying than fun
  7. Also, before i recieve any more negative comments on the matter, i understand that the mig was actually more manuverable than the sabre, But not to the degree dipcted in game becuase as i recal it was pretty darned close. Also, i have no idea if it is dipcted in game or not, but in Korea the North korean mig pilots where not outfitted with G-suits,were as there american counterparts where, (http://stephenesherman.com/discussions/mig_vs_sabre.html) wich in my mind is a realy important thing. this would mean the migs historical performace in sustained high G- manuvers would be substantially limited ,perhaps even even worse than the sabre with his suit less tha
  8. Will post tracks from latest patched versions today,
  9. I got involved with a group of guys that do PVE missions with sabres amd migs, and I was really dissapointed by what ive learned with them. In the current state of the game the stock sabre gets thrashed by the Mig-15. This is regaudless off whether your flying agaisnt an AI or a real player so its not the simple flight model being an issue. I assume DCS being as realistic as they are, first concern is historical accuracy, but as of right now thats out the window. In real life the Sabre and the Mig-15 where extremely similarly performing aircraft, the only way weve managed to get fun missions with equal performance out of the sabre is to edit the lua files for the migs, set the sabres in mission to have 10% fuel (turn on unlimited fuel), edit the lua file of the sabre to get rid of that assanine gun overheat mechanic (the way its moddled now the sabre guns turn into shotguns after one burst) with this setup, the sabre handles like a sports car, and can keep up with the mig beautifully, and dogfights agaisnt the A.I. are actually enjoyable and challanging. However this Really destroys some of the fun of the game, Becuase also wing pylons are broken. they add an unholy ammount of drag to the aircraft, so we cant field bombs ,rockets, drop tanks, or missiles. Now obviously I understand that wing pylons will natrually add drag to any aircraft as opposed to the (clean) setup, but I really think its currently bugged becuase it goes from flying like a sports car, to flying like a dumptruck. also the radar gunsight does not work, and this in my mind is the most unforgiveable. One of the coolest things about these semi modern jets is having a computer reading the radar returns off your target aircraft and automatically adjust the pipper to compensate for lead on the target. As of right now the automatic lead angle indicator will make you miss 100% of the time so its not just bugged its litterally completely broken. So ontop of everything else, here we are flying a 1950s fighter jet and we have to mechanically cage our gun sights and work with deflection shooting.(wich to be fair is fun too, but i paid for a working gunsight damnit)
  10. Being a little burnt out/disapointed with the current state of the F-86, I have been eyeing the mig 21. Not a max performance tier 1 first world aircraft by any means, but it has a rugged charm all its own, akin to the beautiful simplicity of the Ak-47, functional and mass produceable, so even comrade peasent can learn to operate it effectivley. now that being said, I feel that the module is most likely a bit too much of an endeavour for someone of my skill level, without the help of a group thats patient and dedicated to the history of this truly uniuqe aircraft. also I am very interested in the current meta build on these modules, for example, I have lots of complaints about the F86 module being rediculously mismatched to the mig-15 module that the mig will just blow it out of the sky, (litterally , and figurativley) when in reality I understand that these where two exceptionally equally matched aircraft. I would hate to immagine it is a nationality bias on belsimteks part, and just an honest mistake, but it doesnt seem to be getting fixed anytime soon regaurdless and this really disapointed me becuase I bought it with the intention ov having fun pvp missions. if the mig 21 is like this as well I think ill save my money.
  11. Hey Real quick question. What is the team speak password?
  12. my love for the sabre borders on the erotic
  13. Sign me up, whats the TS address? im mature have a mic a flightstick track ir etc
  14. Well that is truly a pain in the behind. Question. IS steam going to continue to add DCS content as it s released? or are they done? Because if there done I need to go ahead and transfer to the standalone
  15. Pretty straightforward question, I wanted to take advantage of the sales they have going on at the DCS store right now, I want to get the Migs :) . I checked the steam store first, and the steam store isn't participating in the sale, I was going to purchase off of the DCS store but I wasn't sure If I would have some renewing/compatibility issues trying to redeem them on the steam version. (after all, the steam store doesn't offer all of the content
  16. Update as of Sept 23? Us steam users just received a 500 mb update as of sept 23 2016. I will admit I am pretty bad at searching the forums, and I cant find anything refereeing to this specific update. I'm sure there is a posting about it but I do not see it right off.
  17. What was in the last update? as of august 21st I got back from a weekend out and saw a new update. I haven't seen a changelog or newsletter posted anywhere. Does anyone know what this was about?
  18. ok ive got a good question, I currently do not have a track IR, could that explain why Im percieving erronious lead angles on the gunsight? like ive always felt as though the automatic lead angle is just slightly off. and Im only assuming that my head position could directly effect that. I know that would happen in the mig, becuase its just got a crosshair sticking up, Im not sure if that fancy gunsight would compensate for that or not and if it does, at where in the aircraft would the pilots head be to be zeroed in.
  19. hmm thats actually really neat. is there anychance of this ever being fixed?
  20. you can certainatly make a good guess as to where the center of mass is. we know the density of the medium its moving through we have video of the the thing performing. we know the speeds its performing at we know at what cross section to the wind the plane has at all times during its manuvers. youd have no idea what the distribution of the weight is. but for a flight model thats all you need is where its centered. the absolute hardest part would be knowing how far each control surface moves and how tbe fllight computer intergrates that, which is honestly probbably the deal breaker on the accurate simulation, but id wager you could make a good estimate looking at previous generations of aircraft it wouldnt be amazingly accurate(like dcs standards) but id bet money they might not want to do it if they cant provide a 100% accurate experience. but i think you could get pretty close, which in my mind is better than not having one
  21. i dont understand the issue, if I can build a model with the same mass distribution, to the real thing, the same shape as the real thing with correct variable control surfaces and scale it down to put it into a wind tunnel How can my data not be correct?
  22. well in terms of the aircraft sizes .50 caliber isnt that huge. not to mention these are metal aircraft with armor plating in critical areas, your going to have to hit it severeal times to get a kill on the thing. a half inch hole in a control surface of lifting body isnt alot. you have to get lucky and hit something mechanical, or hit it enough to achieve structural damage. on the other hand a 20 mm hole will seriously tear something up
  23. Hm ok. Ill buy that logic. Why do my missiles only achieve lock when my radar gunsight gets a good lock?
  24. I mean I understand why, they would spend money and time developing the missiles because they have had amazing results. But why on earth would they have fielded combat missions with a weapon that is 10x more likely to fail then to achieve a kill? I'm not saying it didn't happen. But damn that sounds terrible. Also the missile is supposedly radar guided no? But when you fly you can get a lockon to the sun , so that makes me think its thermal guided?
  25. OK I tried out your suggested technique with limited success. I have my two tracks . 1v1 dogfights. the first vs an easy ai the last vs a hard. Please critique and provide feedback to me 1v1 easy.trk 1v1 hard.trk
