  1. ok, im still a pretty new player, can you explain this technique in more depth?
  2. See i am admitedly not well versed on the history, but Im almost certain the mig outclimbs the sabre. From what ive read the mig was invisioned as a high altitude bomber interceptor/ escorter. and the sabre was designed as an air superiority fighter. So I can understand the mig having a much better climb rate, but at low altitudes the sabre should be turning circles on the migs. especially with the pilots lack of a Gsuit on the thing. (THATS A HUGE GAME CHANGER) Now the mig does fire cannons, wich means limited ammo, and fire rate but very powerful shots. acompany that with the fact they have no capacity for guided missles, and I can understand how 2 good hits from a mig is the death of the sabre, where as the sabre has to spray bullets allover the mig to kill it. By the same token however, I think the GAR-8 guided missile needs a tiny bit of improvement , becuase in its current state, if the enemy manuvers at all it completely trashes the shot. I understand they where very primitive guided missles, but I dont accept that they where as bad as the game portrays. finally the automatic leading in the radar gunsight is slightly off, this might be a historical thing, but is likely a game bug. fix these 3 issues and I think you have a potential for an amazing experiance
  3. yea the mig 21 needs someone to fight besides the f5
  4. can you out turn the mig at that airspeed range?
  5. Yes it can, but they are very primitive, they really only function well if you sneak up on someone and catch them in level flight. they have extre.ely limited maneuvering power and extremley limited tracking capacity
  6. would love to see that phantom. even if they couldnt handle multicrew and had to simplify it, id shell out some big money for it.
  7. so I will openly admit that I am far from the best pilot in the world, but ive been doing dog fights sabre vs migs, and the mig wipes me everytime. Ive tried climbing, ive tried turning, its like Im slowly making a banking turn pulling 6 gs and strugiling to maintain conciousness while the mig ai pilots with no g suit(historically) are turning inside of my turns staying with me perfectly. they have perfect situational awareness. I wil be put running them on the deck at mach .8 pull up sharply try to roll and recover at a higher altitude, and not only will they stay on me but they will plot a seemingly p erfect course to intercept once I roll out. 90% of my dogfight is spent with them on my tail. it almost becomes humorus, if i loose sight of the guy i look up at my mirror pull sharply on the stick an 9 times out of 10 ill see him right there. the only time i have a chance is when im operating at my best manuevering speed with full flaps and airbreaks to tighten my turning, and even then they stay with me. ive heard that the ai by defualt use a "simple" flight model. is there a way to change it to a more realistic one? or is there a way to change mine to a less realistic one? becuase right now it feels like Im fighting a UFO feel free to tell me Im just bad at dogfighting
  8. didnt they already do multi crew with the Huey?
  9. Simply what it say s friends, If you are or know of a group that does Korean war events, I am interested in you.
  10. Well i mean we obviously couldnt get first hand data. but we could make some darn good assumptions. we know what it looks like. we Know how much it wheighs, We know max thrust. from a purely physics standpoint thats your flight model. now internal cockpit would be very hard to get ahold of. then again... it is russia... Since they decomishioned the thing and it never whent into production, it might not me that bad classified
  11. It wouldnt exactly fit withen the scope of the game but that picture reminded me of nasas old XB-70 supersonic nuclear bomber. its another plane that never got out of experimental stages (mainly becuase ICBMS are better weapon platforms) it itrestingly enough has a folding wing
  12. as a lover and biased patriot of american aircraft, I can recognise an amazing machine when I see one. I understand its by no means a production model, and more of an experimental thing. but darn it looks too sexy not to play with
  13. um sure your correct. it just bugs me. let me ask, there is a serting to spawn aircraft at a condition value. defualt is 100% if i mess with that would combat be any closer to reality? or would it effect the entire flight model of the plane?
  14. yea i think i see the electrical caging and how it works. when i uncage both mechanic and electrical while behind a mig thier is a radar drift to allow for lead compensation. So it does infact make an attempt to lead the target for you. but i am still feeling as though the lead angle is not correct. I have no idea if thats the case historically, if i still somehow have an improper setup, or if its the game not working true to history. i almost feel as though an incorrect automatic lead is more of a henderance than anything else. Im going to try and do some dogfighting with the sight mechanically caged and see if I can get better results then what the sights computing for me. i whatch these youtube videos of people in dcs flying the f-86 in dogfights and they seem to be getting remarkebly solid hits using the automatic lead compensator makes me think im doing something wrong. also on a side note. (maby due to my accuracy) but it takes me often times a full compliment of ammunition to kill one mig. while these guys on youtube are getting them with like 2 short bursts. Is thier a way to adjust how much damage the hostiles take? or am I just an execptionaly bad shot?
  15. whats the deal aith the electrical caging? it doesnt work as well as mechanical, theirs still gyro drift when banking using electrical caging
  16. I saw they recently released a trailer for the F5. Not really my thing, but I love the f4 phantom. with that slight vertical flair to the wings. it would be a nice eddition to my vietnam pack
  17. hmmm. i wonder if thats historical? or if its a game bug?
  18. its pretty late right now so im going to keep this post simple and sweet. I love the korean war era aircraft. the last of the great gun fighters and the first of the guided missle fighters. Of course i have a national bias towards the sabre so thats what i want to fly. i assume in a comunity like this it goes without saying, but i expect a group to be friendly mature serious, willing to spend time to help me learn and polish my skills. Im pretty new to the game, but im a veteran of flight simulators in general.
  19. Also on a side note, does anybody know if/how the gun camera works?
  20. I have no evidence to confirm this, and it might just be all my hours of playing WWII games but I was under the impression that theradar gunsight has automatic target leading. first let me say my gunsight is uncaged i have hostile aircraft velocity set to HI (and to low sometimes) as it usually is in dogfights. i have all my guns firing. when i have radar lock on a target , say a mig. i feel as though when we are banking and fighting that I get more hits if I purposely lead about half a pipper more than what the pipper indicates. this makes me think that the pipper simply indicates where my bullets will go, with no automatic leading involved. Is this the case? if so then what is the purpose of radar locking in guns mode? just to aquire the wingspan and distance to target? if thier is automatic leading, is it my imagination that its slightly off? or is it actually not 100% accurate?
