The 955 should be more than fine. Besides it got unlocked multiplier for easier OC You could also consider a i5 750/760 which doesn't have unlocked multiplier, but can easy get to 4GHz on air.

For GPU, check HD 5750, HD 5770, GTS 450 and GTX 460 (768mb) You might as well look on some of the AMD cpu's. maybe a phenom x2? The mobo's seems cheaper than those for intel.
