hello. did you change your HOSTS file to get around a previous connection problem?
file is found in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
Hi, no, I have never touched that. Looking at it, it is showing the default "sample" version.

I have just started to get this since the last couple of updates.
I have already attempted the following troubleshooting steps without success:
- Checked Internet Connection: Restarted my router and confirmed stable internet connectivity.
- DCS World Account: Logged out and logged back into my DCS World account within the game.
- Verified Module Ownership: Confirmed on the Eagle Dynamics website that the F/A-18C module is listed under my licenses and is bound to my account.
- DCS World Repair: Ran the "Repair DCS World" utility.
-
Firewall/Antivirus: Temporarily disabled my firewall and antivirus, and also added exceptions for
DCS.exe
and related processes. - System Date and Time: Ensured my system's date, time, and timezone are set correctly and synchronised automatically.
- PC Restart: Restarted my computer multiple times.
-
Logs: Deleted the
dcs.log
file fromSaved Games\DCS\Logs
and then ran a repair.
Despite these steps, the authorization for the F/A-18C module continues to fail.
If anyone can help, I'm all out of ideas.

I use ChatGPT to write for me fictional storylines for some of my missions, it's very good at that. With some effort I can get complete storylines
Agreed, it does have a better imagination than me.

Has anyone tried to create missions using AI such as OpenAI etc? Even more importantly, has anyone successfully created a mission using AI? Is it even possible? I had a go, but it seems to hard to do.

Ah! Ok, the fuel tank jettisoning creating issues with ordnance is a known issue. We're trying to fix it as soon as possible internally.
We're sorry for the inconvenience.
Since updating to the latest patch this now appears to be fixed. Thanks.

Hi all.
Please include a track replay with a short flight for our analysis.
Thanks for understanding.
Hi, we have just tested the issue out tonight and the same thing happened. I have been able to identify the exact moment it happens.
So, during normal start up I select the mk82 snakes on the stores page and change the fuze settings. For example to Auto, nose, inst, ret. The on the UFC select qty 4, mult 1, int 80. That all seems fine.
In our loadout we have a centreline tank. So I set bingo to tanks dry 10200.
Following all the normal start up procedures, I take off and fly the route. I then arm the master switch and A/G. The Mk82s are live. Then when the bingo call comes, I ensure the centre tank is selected and jettison. At this moment the 82XT becomes crossed out. I press OSB5 to deselect 82XT, the press again to reselect. It is at this point that all of the fuze and bomb settings reset.
This has happened to several of us this evening.
I have added a track file for your perusal. This was a simple straight out flight until bingo and jettison. Hope it helps.

I'd like to report a bug that seems to be occurring since the fuze update.
When using Mk82s, we usually set the fuze settings before take off, for example nose, inst, ret with qty, mult, and int.
It seems that several of us during flight have found that these settings seem to be resetting themselves (some more than once) so that we have to re-input them mid flight.
This is happening to several of us during multiplayer missions.

What is the best DDS format for the hornet. I.e. BC1 to BC7, and why? Does it matter for the hornet?

You can convert from PNG to DDS BC7 using AMD Compressonator, which can be easy once you write up a script/.bat for it and just run it in the folder with the PNGs. It's what we've been doing with the F-4 as it lets you do the whole stack of textures at once. If you read the documentation you can figure out how to create the .bat so it looks for each filename and then knows what kind of DDS compression to do, ie BC7 for albedo and Roughmet, and BC5 for Normals.
Great! Thanks for that.

The template is definitely sorted out a little differently from some of the others I have worked on, where everything was crammed into as much space as possible.
I'm going off of memory from yesterday, but I believe f14-EXT_01 is the right side of the plane, mirrored, EXT_02 is the left side of the plane, and shows up as is. EXT_03 is the right side of the engine intake, top-right/lower side of the fuselage from the engines to the back of the wings, and some of the rear engine duct, and it is also mirrored. EXT_04 is the same as that, only unmirrored and on the left side of the fuselage. Outside of that, the rest are pretty easy to sort out from the name. The layers have pretty accurate description names, though they don't always match between various template files from what I've found. Fortunately, they appear to have left all of the in-game liveries they created in the template file, so you can always turn those on to see how things are arranged on the skin and get a better idea of what is wear. Alternatively, you can delete them all to save some space.
All in all, it shouldn't take too long to sort out what goes where. They have the base layers all marked in red with "Do Not Touch" to let you know to avoid them, which I go ahead and just lock in Photoshop when I start to make sure an errant click doesn't accidentally drag a base weathering layer off center without my noticing. Another easy way to help figure out what is where on the model that I usually do is just work a template at a time and color the large areas in with a solid color, export it, and then open the model in the DCS Model Viewer to see where things line up. You can always add different lines or markings at one end if you need to figure out which direction something is pointing.
I've been saving my DDS files with the format: BC7 RGBA 8bpp | explicit alpha and it appears to be working as intended. I'm happy to get a correction on that one.
Good luck!
Thanks for taking the time to explain. It sure is a bit confusing so I appreciate your help.
As I'm using GIMP I can't export to BC7, so if anyone has any advice on that front of be grateful.

Hi all,
A friend has asked me to create a skin for him on the F14. I don't have the module, so I've downloaded the texture template and and trying to figure it all out. It looks much more complicated than the hornet template
So, do you have any tips before I spend days trying to figure out what every layer does.
Also, I'm using GIMP. What are the best DDS settings I should be using?
Thanks

I think my brain is having a meltdown. I am well and truly stuck on getting a switch matrix to work. I have tried the following 2 approaches. Neither produce any signs of life from my panel. This is well above my capability it seems. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I have a number of potentiometers, rotary encoders and 3 way switches on the panel, which are not included in the matrix. These all work fine.
I'm using an Arduino Mega, DCS BIOS Fork, a keypad and 43 switches in a 8 column x 7 row matrix using diodes to stop ghosting.

Hi all,
I am in the process of building a switch panel for the FA-18. I've got all the bits and pieces and am trying to understand what I need to do to get it working.
I want 60 switch/button inputs, and want to do it on 3 matrix 4 columns 5 rows.
I tried to test this on a smaller scale and realised that I can't even get a simple matrix to work.
I've been referring to the DCS BIOS control reference page, and see the matrix2pos/3pos commands.
I've totally confused myself and would love it if someone could point me in the right direction.
This is my first attempt at anything like this and I don't want to give up!
Also, I'm using Arduino Mega, breadboard, diodes, switches and pushbuttons.
I've planned my circuit and I know what switches I want where on matrix.

Interesting - if you are OK with it, it might be worth posting the piggy-backed profile here and we could then see if we can replicate or spot an issue
Roger that. I will get it sorted.

Do you know what you were doing at the time?
Yes, I was in the A10 2, going through my start procedure, and then I gave a command from my piggybacked profile and it switched to the inverse listening state everyone I press the ptt. I don't have either dice or herc mods

The problem happened again today. It's a phantom bug. Happened just the once. It doesn't like something.
-
I've just tried to play Piercing Fury for the 1st time. Unfortunately, mission 2 seems to still be bugged. The C130 lands safely at Senaki. I guess that isn't supposed to happen.
-
Yes, I noticed this. Was it just the crackle on and off previously?
-
Edit - Cancel, I realise my mistake.

Thank you. I'll have a try later tonight.
It'll be interesting to see what the problem is.
Also, I do not have Dice.

What would be useful to know? I will try and replicate it tomorrow evening. Tonight, I needed Vaicom to work for a squadron flight.

Perfect. I deleted the folder D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C and DCS loaded without the error. Then I reinstalled the folder, and it works. Thank you.
