i have a saitek x52 joystick, throttle and pro rudders running in Vista64. all of the axes & buttons respond fine in the windows game controller screen. but i'm having trouble mapping game functions to my x52 throttle buttons and all of the 8 way hats except for the throttle hat, using the in-game controller setup. the joystick buttons all map fine. also, windows calls the x52 hat switches; 'hat switch', 'POV2' & 'throttle hat' but the black shark controll screen doesn't use the same names, only pov_1, pov_2 & pov_3. and the black shark controll screen lists a lot more buttons than i have on my setup. any ideas?

i believe that Vista64, if you're using it, stores your joystick files & campaign files in a seperate tree, 'user'/appdata/local/virtualstore/programs(x86)/. maybe your old joystick file is still there & affecting the game.

it looks like there are actually 2 folder structures at least with Vista one that the game is installed to, c:\program (x86)\whatever folder you choose and one that vista creates to store data, this is where i found my campaign, tracks, joystick, error files. these weren't in the 'installed' folder

after my 1st un-install/delete folder/re-install i started having weird problems, my throttle remapped from the collective to the throttles & not able to get the game to recognize remaping it back me blowing up evertime i launched C8 rockets game not recognizing joystick buttons mapped to various functions, it would vary from 1 re-install to the next i may have found out why, i figured if i un-installed & deleted the folder then all the old settings/mappings would be gone but i just found out by accident that Vista64 still had all my old re-installs (to different folder names) with the old joystick files, etc saved in a 'owner'/AppData/Local/VirtualStore/Program Files (x86) folder. i've deleted the old folders & will see if the joystick button mapping improves.

uhoh7, i'm using PriFinity 1.1.3 with Vista 64, Q6600, motherboard 5.1 sound & Nvidia 9800GT w/o any sound problems.

ru!ner, i hope so! i've just un-installed/re-installed for the 3 or 4 time! the last un-install/delete folder/re-installed cured my problem of blowing up when i launched a C8 rocket.

axion, same here, i've un-installed/re-installed it 3 or 4 times now! it hasn't asked for another re-activation yet.

no problem. there was no intent on my part to accuse anyone. i had played the game for about a week with no problems before this. i'm going to do a re-install over this installation & see what happens. i see that you're in Germany, what part, if i may ask? i was in Nelligen & Bobligen (Stuttgart) between 1974 to 1977.

this game is getting frustrating! problem 1 was the laucher.exe stopped responding remedy un/re-install but it must be installed in a non-default location problem 2 was the game stopped allowing my joystick to controll the collective, only the throttles remedy un/re-install to a non-default location problem 3 now the helicopter shoots itself but only with the C8 rockets! no problem with the cannon or the atgm (vyckir?) in the debrief screen it lists me as the initiator & the target! remedy ?

386sx first pc here but trs-80 first computer, 16K of ram!

nullcharacter, thanks for the info but the missions don't seem to be pre-recorded (i 'm doing all the flying except the startup) & it is under the 'campaign' selection in the launcher. jack57, unfortunately i got antsy & went ahead & un-installed the game before i saw your message. now i'm trying to re-install the game. i've had to do this 3 times & every time i have to re-download (4-6 hours) the 2 files, is this normal? it seems that once i install the game using the data & setup files, the next time i try to use them to re-install the game it just locks up my pc.

well, my C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark\data\scripts\Logbook folder is empty but i have flown the first 3 missions in the 'familarization' (?) campaign!

thanks, i'll give that a try. it looks like i'll be doing another un/re-install since the game has re-mapped my joystick throttle from the cockpit collective stick to the cockpit throttle levers! i've tried re-mapping it back in the game controller profile & it seems to be remapped but in the cockpit it reverts to moving the throttle levers.

sorry nighthawk, that didn't work. the joystick throttle axis (z) works fine in the game controller profile (tune axis) as the game collective control but in the ccokpit it moves the throttle levers not the collective stick. it looks like another un/re-install!

is there someway to backup a campaign in-progress?

during my last mission, black shark stopped responding & i had to use task manager to close it. ever since then my saitek X52 throttle controlls the throttles (as indicated by the in-cockpit view) not the collective! i've cleared & remaped the axis in the game control profiler several times & the 'tune axis' shows the movement of the joystick & the windows game controller shows all the axis working fine. i've been using this setup since i installed the game on 12/11 with no problems.

Acedy, i did another un/re-install but this time i didn't install it in the default folder & at least the launcher is working again, i haven't flown a mission yet. after the earlier un-installs i manually deleted the default folder so there shouldn't have been any files left over. thanks

i have developed the same problem. after my last mission i edited my ingame joystick profile and saved it as 'blackshark.lua' now the launcher shortcut won't start. if i run the launcher.exe i get a error - 'cannot open .\blackshark\blackshark.lua no such file or directory'. 2 un-install / re-install hasn't fixed the problem.
