  2. Yo ED crew, Since the Oct 22 patch (2.9.20.15384), the Game Commander slot is borked. I’m setting a password in the Mission Editor to secure it, but the spawn menu shows a permanent padlock with an unresponsice password box. Can’t attatch as host or client. Hits both maps, GermanyCW and Syria on two separate servers. **Setup**: - DCS Version: 2.9.20.15384 [Open Beta or Stable? Fill in] - Mods: [None] **Steps to Reproduce**: 1. Mission Editor: Add Game Commander role (Coalition > [Side] > dual-flag icon). Set Type: Client, add password (e.g., “admin123”). 2. Save as new .miz (no scripts/mods). 3. Host server (local or dedicated), load mission. 4. Same issue as client joining. Tested on Germany and Syria maps. This worked pre-patch—passwords prompted fine. Now it’s ignoring my password and locking me out. Need this for secure admin control—help us out! Thanks,
  3. Hi all, I'm running a dedicated DCS server for personal/multiplayer use and hitting a wall with mission loading. This started happening right after applying today's patch (October 23, 2025). The server starts fine but immediately rejects any mission (including a vanilla blank Caucasus .miz) as "unsupported," leading to "server_start failed: no valid missions in the list." The web GUI shows the missions in the list but greys them out on start attempt, and the server stops right after. Setup Details: DCS Version: [Insert your exact version, e.g., 2.9.12 stable / openbeta—post-patch] Install Path: Fresh install in a new directory (e.g., C:\Games\DCS_Fresh) Launch Command: "C:\Games\DCS_Fresh\Bin\DCS_server.exe" --server --norender -w dcs_serverrelease Workspace: Isolated via -w parameter (C:\Users\Martin\Saved Games\DCS.dcs_serverrelease) Web GUI: Default port 8088 (reverted from custom 8089—connects fine) OS: Windows [10/11], no mods enabled, Caucasus map installed/verified Firewall: Ports forwarded (10308 UDP, 8088 TCP), running as Admin Note: Full client version (same install dir and Saved Games root) runs perfectly on the same machine—missions load fine in Mission Editor and Multiplayer host mode. Issue is isolated to dedicated server. The Issue: Server launches and binds to ports correctly. GUI scans and lists missions, but on "Start," it logs "removed unsupported mission file" for each, empties the list, and fails with the errors below. This happens for modded missions and fresh blanks—no units, no scripts, saved directly from Mission Editor. (Client loads the same .miz files without issue.) GUI then throws Lua errors querying server info (e.g., "attempt to index global 'mission' (a nil value)"). Steps I've Tried (in order, with fresh workspace resets between): Full Reinstall & Saved Games Reset: Deleted old install, reinstalled to new dir. Renamed root Saved Games\DCS to backup, let server recreate fresh. Also deleted/renamed workspace DCS.dcs_serverrelease multiple times to force regen. Mission Placement: Created blank Caucasus mission in full client Mission Editor (New > Empty > Save to Saved Games\DCS\MissionsMultiplayer). Copied to workspace DCS.dcs_serverrelease\MissionsMultiplayer\[Blank-23102025-Caucases].miz. Tried root Saved Games\Missions too—no diff. Config Edits: Deleted/renamed Config\options.lua and Config\serverSettings.lua to force defaults. Manually added to new serverSettings.lua: missions = { {["path"] = "MissionsMultiplayer\\[Blank-23102025-Caucases].miz", ["name"] = "Blank Caucasus Test"} } Set ["Missions"] = "MissionsMultiplayer/" in options.lua. Repair & Verify: Ran DCS Updater > Repair (full scan, Caucasus confirmed installed). Permissions set to full control for user on all folders. Path/Workspace Tweaks: Confirmed dcs_variant.txt = "dcs_serverrelease". Tested without -w (uses root)—same rejection. No symlinks; all physical copies. GUI/Browser: Tested in Incognito Chrome/Firefox, cleared cache. GUI refreshes list but still fails on start. Logs Check: No other errors pre-start (e.g., tracks fixed by creating folder). Unzipped .miz—empty Scripts/Options, re-zipped. Nothing sticks—the log always paths to root Saved Games\[mission].miz despite copies to workspace, and rejects immediately. I've read mixed information about whether the dedicated server primarily uses a single CPU core for its core simulation workload or if it takes advantage of multiple cores through multi-threading.For context: I understand the DCS 2.9 client has some multi-threading support (e.g., for rendering and certain tasks), but I'm specifically asking about the dedicated server used for hosting multiplayer missions. I'm planning to optimize my server hardware and want to know if prioritizing high single-core performance is critical or if a multi-core CPU would be better utilized. Could anyone confirm: Is the DCS 2.9 Dedicated Server primarily single-threaded for its main simulation loop (e.g., AI, physics, mission logic)? Are there any specific tasks (e.g., networking, I/O) that leverage additional CPU cores? Any insights from server admins, technical users, or Eagle Dynamics staff would be greatly appreciated!     If I have say 20 or more client planes instead of (player), Do I repeat the rule for all clients? I want the lonely client to fly to his waypoint and if by the time he gets there and no other players have spawned in on the opposite side, an ai aircraft spawns in instead.   14. So, I follow procedure for BIT test and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. the DDi says In Test but the surfaces are not moving. I read you have to disengage NWS but doesnt seem to help Reset FCS and Trim, Flaps to Auto. Not sure what other tricks I could be missing.
  15. This. What's the point of having the spitfire if its just too damned hard to get off the ground? This needs to be sorted out. Even level flight is next to impossible. If it was really like this to fly they woudnt have issued pilots maps because taking one glance to work out where you were and you'd buy the farm.
  16. Either the P51 is unrealistically easy to fly or the Spitfire is unrealistically hard to fly. The gap between the two is incomprehendable.

  18. I was going to keep a server up for VR users only but pretty much got shot down in flames for even suggesting it. Bought Nevada earlybut couldn't use it due to an axis bug in Alpha which probably still isn't fixed and then seeing a discount package for Nevada and a "Tuff Titties" attitude from DCS and community I've invested my moneys and resources elsewhere.

  20. There are many things we didn't or don't know how to do when we play DCS. I don't think that stops us from trying however. What I am offering is a server for VR headset users only. Sometimes it may be necessary to verify that ll pilots on the server are using what they claim to be. Or at least be prepared to if so asked. Streaming through twitch if requested seems to me to be a fairly simple way to guarantee a level playing field and I'm open to alternative measures. It isn't hard to do and I'd be more than happy to explain how to set it up. If players want to take up this offer it is because they are looking for the same as I and to achieve that we would need to have some measures in place to prove authenticity.

  24. Well, it sure feels like it. I bought DCS Nevada a week ago and got 1 evening to fly it before it bugged out and now nothing works.
  25. I would have loved to buy the Combined Arms and the F5-E Tiger but because I already purchased Nevada I cant take advantage of the special. So in effect I am being punished for purchasing a product early? Maybe DCS could make a bundle for those who already have Nevada? as a gesture of good will?
