  1. The other good news is the announcement last october that they were going to use their new process to scan again the Mirage's cockpit. Perhaps we'll see more than "just" a new set of textures.

When the Mirage will be done, it will be truly one of the very best DCS modules.

  2. However, until delivered ill consider it a repitition of past promises.

And this is exactly how everyone should react. This is the most sane and logical stance to adopt, we will have plenty of time to praise the team and recommend the product once they deliver. Just a matter of months if everything goes according to their plan.

  3. That's one way to look at it.

If you're flying solo and don't have someone to fly with that's certainly an inconvenience, but for people always flying with a teammate it's pure joy. The fact is, the Strike Eagle won't offer any AI so you could not swap position even if you wanted it.

  4. Will run the videos in :

    June

    Sept

    Dec

    March

But if anything major comes up I will do adhoc videos, the one on June will include:

    - All module states to date

-Mirage upgrade with pics and video of our trip to France (main focus)

-touch on the new work flows focus on 3d scanning

    -any other news

What happened to the June update video, has it been canceled ?

  5. Yes of course we are.

We have a full-function prototype and are testing it.

As in Kosmosima, we are putting all our experience in this grip.

It looks simple, but it is quite a complicated device when it comes to its internals.

Making external design is nothing big, we were there long ago.

Sure, we understand this device is for a niche market inside a niche market, hence we are making it The Best F14 Grip, in and out.

There are long travel buttons, and metal buttons/hats caps, and metal AP OFF lever. We designed a two-step trigger that is borrowed from real life combat grips. Contactless sensors, no compromise Japanese made buttons, rubber insertions for extra comfy grip. Default version will have no twist but users will be able to install a Kosmosima ® twist as an option.

    And more, and more.

Our grip is being made in cooperation with Heatblur, and will be integrated into the game. Those who already have an F14 module will enjoy a discount; those who don't will be offered a discount for this module when they buy a grip.

In a word, this grip is worth waiting. If, of course, you want a really meticulously designed product, not a lookalike wannabe.

Thank you for the comprehensive reply, this is really looking great !

  6. Does someone on the VKB team can enlight us about the progress on the Tomcat grip please ?

The newly announced preorder of the Virpil variant will probably change some expectations. Are you even going to release it as Virpil will probably take a large part of this super niche market while you're still developing your own version of the F-14 stick ?

Feel free to tell us more about the throttle too xD

    Thanks)

  7. It has always been that way, very high prices at launch, then a progressive decrease as the product shelf life is increasing. I remember the Warthog being sold $500 at launch when today you can find it at $300/350 on a regular basis.

Plus, I'm not sure the flight sim enthusiast demographic willing to pay several hundreds dollars/euros for a stick is as big as it was ten years ago. So the real question is : can you wait a few years to get a grip at a lower price or will you pay up front the $200 to get the latest toy ?

  8. Another source of potential problem : shadows. Did you activate them in the cockpit ? I had to turn them on (to low) to have contrast on these buttons, otherwise I couldn't read them or even know if they were lit up or not.

  9. Yes, but that doesn't make up for the poor dynamic range and colour depth from the LCD panels compared to OLEDs.

In any case as there are less pixels to push around, you can push the SS/PD values up to compensate to a large extent for the difference in resolution.

It's all subjective though, and in the case of the Index, pure speculation at this stage.

I think you have been spoiled by OLED screens - if I remember correctly my experience with the Vive I found the colors to be oversaturated, something I never could get over with - but that's something personal, a lot of people will always go with oversaturation instead of more blend and natural colors. The real drawback for LCD panels are the blacks that are not deep enough, but they seem to get better at this. Your experience with WMR is quite interesting as I never experienced a single problem you mentioned. I guess I'm the lucky one.

  10. New setbacks for the F-35 reported by Defensenews.com [Link]

The F-35's AN/APG-81 radar has a limited field of view in sea search mode.

The F-35 JPO says a software fix is in development, but may not be ready before 2024. […]

When the F-35 blows a tire, it can set off a chain reaction of potential failures. The problem has been fixed in the carrier variant, but why aren't the "A" and "B" models getting the same correction? […]

A fix is coming for a problem that left two F-35 pilots in ‘excruciating’ pain. Oxygen deprivation isn't the only issue known to cause physiological episodes among F-35 pilots.

When US Navy and Marine F-35 pilots most need performance, the aircraft becomes erratic. The U.S. Navy and Marine Corps’ F-35s become unpredictable to handle when executing the kind of extreme maneuvers a pilot would use in a dogfight or while avoiding a missile. […]

Two F-35 partners threatened to quit the program. Here’s why they didn’t.

How serious were the problems? Serious enough that a couple countries threatened to pull out of the program, according to U.S. Defense Department documents. […]

  11. Yeah, for that much variants I'm willing to pay the "mandatory" $79 for their first one, then around $35 for the others one I'm interested in.

In fact I really don't know how much differences there is between each model but it's clear to me that it shouldn't come for free.
