  1. Yikes. MUCH bigger. That's a monster missile.
  2. Pretty sure the diameter would be greater than an AIM120. No sign of air intakes on it from what I've seen either so I think it may just be a rocket. Agreed though GG, I imagine both VLRAAM and R37 would be directed at airborne ISR assets, tankers etc.
  3. Well it seems as though the Chinese are pursuing a similar concept in their very KS172-esque VLRAAM. Ditto for the Russians with the R37. Downside is that, as probad correctly pointed out, a 500-600kg missile is going to have fairly significant aerodynamic consequences for the launch platform as far as AAMs go. Not likely to be cheap either...
  4. This is insane. I grew up watching Hornets flying out of RAAF Williamtown and playing Flanker 1.5. To think that ED are now making it possible to fly such a high fidelity Hornet sim now is just incredible. Huge props to Matt and ED for making this a reality.
  5. Just started having this issue today in Open Beta. Tried the fix again to no effect - graphics settings all on high :-/ EDIT: Resolved. Was my own dumb fault. If you don't start your INS warm up before turning on the HUD during a cold start you end up with a very sparse HUD display (duh!). Silly me! ;-)
  6. No offence taken, just pointing out that VLO technology isn't new for the US at all, and even the Israelis themselves will be benefiting from that fact.
  7. Not the point. It's an American jet supported by (decades of accumulated) American corporate knowledge on how repairs to such a jet should be undertaken. MustangSally hit the nail on the head I suspect.
  8. Not really. The US has been developing and operating (V)LO aircraft for decades...
  9. Same here. Also finding the damage model is behaving strangely as Fallen mentioned here. Ate a Sidewinder I had no business surviving today (but did) and watched multiple hits on various jets while their air-frame stayed intact. Rather odd!
  10. In that case I "heard" from a "credible source" that the F35 was "allegedly" not damaged at all and that the Israelis are simply peddling a fake news piece to downplay how awesome their new capability is. :smilewink: :gun_smilie:
  11. Sad but true - certainly not one filmed with my piddly little Canon point and shoot cam!
  12. You just never get used to the sound of the real thing. I think you "feel" it as much as you hear it (!)
  13. That seems to be the message coming from the pilots flying the thing.
