  1. Fair guess... I certainly have not. From what I have seen over the years, It lacks realism in alot of departments and far too dated in comparison. Save that for another discussion though. I'm all for adding features, I still struggle to see the value. Ill touch on one point you mentioned as an example. Holding patterns Required when an airfield/airport is over capacity. A standard civil single runway airport in the civil world in IFR conditions can land about 22-32 aircraft per hour. Military arrival rates are much higher (typically arrive 2 or 3 in the same period one would arrive in the civil world) I don't see any campaign, missions where that many aircraft are coming and going including the multiplayer servers and doubt that has anything to do with the in game ATC system. I personally don't feel like simulating something that makes real world pilots cringe because its "cool" and because we can. Id be happier getting that life saving BRA from AWACS, without having to take my hands off my HOTAS and pull my attention from the guy trying to shoot me to work the comm menus. That is much more of immersion killer (and has cost me more then a few engagements), then a ATC system in a combat environment. Again... perhaps its just me.
  2. Playing devils advocate.... I don't see any value of a robust ATC system in a military combat sim. A big portion of us fly online. Servers often provide voice ATC or have a mandatory frequency setup for traffic. And 99% of missions, campaigns and online servers are in day VFR conditions. Majority of talking is done with the air weapons controller (AWACS), others in your coalition and those in your flight group. I see much more value in beefing up the in game communication system vs. a specific portion of it (ATC). We need more callsigns, more NATO brevity, and IMO the best thing that could be ultimately integrated is voice recognition. Being able to seamlessly request status, BRAs, picture, bogey dope etc via voice would be alot more immersive in a combat sim over a system that clears you to land. Just me though.
  3. Never 4 but 2 is common. Smithsonian channel just released a new documentary "Carriers at War" and it showed several scenes of two ship FA-18D's simultaneously being shot off the deck of the USS Bush at the same time during last years mission against ISIL in the Persian gulf. No delay, no offset.

I come from a long civil flight simulation background using VATSIM. It blows my mind a little we have no legit means of logging multiplayer activity's within DCS itself. Like you... my log shows one hour on type and 2 kills. Reality, 250 hours plus and nearing almost 100 a2a kills (mix of AI and PvP). I literally do ALL my flying online. Im sure it comes down to ED's priorities, but at some point I don't see why a MP log couldn't be implemented, define AI kills vs PVP etc. We all like to brag. :pilotfly:
  5. Great post... I hope ED can run with this and implement/tweak/fix your observations for a true authentic experience. The community needs more guys like you to share your observations and expertise.
  6. (Solved) Corrupted SDD with bad blocks from factory. Explains everything really :)
  7. Hello I seemingly have done every thing in my power to troubleshoot my issues since Build 377 (Pre PG) and both releases have caused inconstant issues I cant get a handle on. I have had DCS running stable on multiple PC builds since the LOMAC days and in particular on my current set up for well over 2 years. My main SSD C:/ eventually got full and in anticipation I purchased another SSD. The previous version before PG release worked for around a month flawlessly on my new D:/ drive including SP and MP without ever having a single error or crash. When 377 came out I was able to enjoy PG for a few hours of SP and MP combined. I shortly became unable to use PG in any situation. It started to crash early during initialization every time and began to take 10 minutes or so to either boot DCS and or load a flight before eventually crashing. I attempted a uninstall/reinstall but a few random texture files for assets were undelete-able. I had to use windows disk scan and repair in order to be able to clean those files off the SDD. I installed and yet again was able to enjoy all maps PG, Caucasus, AV8B, F5 etc for a few hours. After a day or so (gotta work sometime) I would reboot the PC and experience issues loading PG in any situation again...this time without lengthy loading, nor files that could not be deleted. At this point I really started to tinker with DCS, in game video and Nvidia settings, started running cleanup, repair to no real avail. Got updated drivers for GPU, Motherboard, Win10 etc. Began deleting fxo and metashaders folders, then trying deleting saved game folder, mission editor all with reboots in between and trying different situations and maps each attempt. One install loaded maps and situations ok but had bad random 60 second loading/freezing when flying. PG only, Caucaus was fine. Its fairly routine now, completely unflyable after first few loads of a mission of any type. For this current install I even broke the wallet open and upgraded to 16GB RAM from 8GB. I sit unflyable. I wish I kept all the logs for the 100s of crash between my reinstalls, this is just the latest few on the current install. I can say though that nothing seemingly appeared common between installs and what was causing errors in the logs. Logs.zip
  8. :pilotfly: Thanks!!!
  9. I'm sure the answer is something simple and obvious but.... How? I get that both the button and switch need to be pressed at the same time, however I cant figure out how to actually click two switches at the same time. If I click and hold the first then click the next switch the first is released. Any ideas?
