  1. Your X56 isn't faulty - this is an issue with the software so no need to return the HOTAS. I assume you're using the download from our site? Which version of Windows are you running?
  2. Are you saying there's cross talk from the axes? i.e. if you nudge a mini stick then one of the other axes will spike? Does that replicate in the control panel in Windows?
  3. There's a 2 year warranty so provided you still have the proof of purchase you should be good. What's the fault, by the way? There's no special requirement for setting the X56 up in DCS. Configure it in the control options of DCS and away you go. How much time you spend subsequently going back in and tweaking assignments etc. is entirely up to you
  4. @BlacleyCole If there is an fault with the X56 that you have then support will attempt to address that. If they can't fix it then they would likely issue an RMA, in which case the replacement would be a new one. If there's no fault then there's no reason to swap.
  5. If you leave the throttle in that position and use something like DXTweak 2 to look at the throttle axis, do you see the values changing? If so then the pot could probably do with a clean. Pots are a lot more reliable than people might believe but eventually they can get to a point where they need some maintenance - some contact cleaner will clear that up usually. For the extension pipe that's probably unlikely I'm afraid, due to the extra forces that it would apply to the gimbal - something the current mechanism was not designed for.
  6. They're pots.
  7. @tom_vn The text on the site is actually referring to the fact that they also feature a press-down button but yes, you can use the software to band the axes and then program those bands with keystrokes. Thanks for all the other responses in this thread. If anything happens regarding a separate throttle and stick then I'll let you know, but it's unlikely to be in the short term.
  8. I can't talk about future product development plans, unfortunately. Regarding the possibility of the throttle being sold independently, no plans at this stage but we'll keep listening out for requests.
  9. @Dudikoff Software remains as it is for the time being - we do have plans for improvements but everything takes time. @HiJack That is indeed the new part number. The new version is easily distinguished from the old due to the new cosmetic appearance as well as a completely new part number, packaging and retail listing (once they go live).
  10. As many of you know, we have been working on integrating and making quality-of-life improvements to the entire Saitek range since the acquisition in September 2016. The X56 has had particular attention, with some improvements having been implemented in production to the point where we have already seen a steady reduction in issues. These mostly involved manufacturing processes, such as better control over the damping grease for the throttle to prevent the problem where some people experienced excessive friction in the throttle movement, even when at the lightest setting. Some issues still persisted, though, and through analysis of forums, online reviews and support tickets we were able to determine that the original X56 can be susceptible to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). This update to the X56 takes multiple steps to further protect against ESD with the result that it is now in line with Logitech’s standards (and well above standard compliance requirements). This should prevent the axis/button failures that some people have experienced. There are other improvements, the main points being: An improved manufacturing method for the spring on the twist axis to prevent early wear and improve centering of the twist Tooling updates to further assist with the centering of the twist (plus fit and finish improvements elsewhere) A new wiring harness for the twist axis in the stick and improved soldering process that prevents twist axis failures A new look for the X56 which should make those of you who expressed their dislike for the blue very happy indeed Lastly, we would like to express our appreciation for your patience and support as we have worked through defining and addressing these issues. It is not always a quick or straightforward process to arrive at a clear root cause and solution. We will continue on an ongoing basis to monitor the performance of X56 (and the rest of our product lines) and address any further issues as they appear. Q. How can I tell whether my X56 is the updated or the original version? The updated version of X56 has grey graphics printed on the base of the throttle and stick. The original version has blue graphics. Q. Are all original X56 units compliant with relevant safety standards? Yes. The original X56 passes all compliance requirements for any territory in which it is sold by Logitech. The new version is already available through our website in certain regions and will be available from other retailers shortly.
  11. Are you definitely remembering to load the profile into the X56 before starting the game? Either click the Profile Now button in the programming software after loading the profile, or right click the X56 icon in your systray and then left click the name of the profile that you want to load into the X56. You'll know a profile is loaded because the X56 icon will have a green background.
