  1. Come on we still have the Pacific. Some countries don't have any oceans ;). So we've got a release date, May 30th! Makes sense that the Hornet might have complications that have it switching places with The Persian Gulf Map. Probably means it'll be just a little bit nicer when we get it. Let's continue the Hornet hype. Feel free to describe the first MISSION you plan on doing in the jet. :pilotfly: And as always, I'm still looking to learn more about dynamic tail number mechanics.
  2. So the answer is no you cannot teach me how to do this. Thank you for dropping by. Now let's keep the conversation on either being excited about the Hornet, or teaching me how to place custom numbers on jets.
  3. Glad you like them. I recently found out a lot of the airshow liveries are designed by our Hornet pilots. I can't really comment as I've yet to find an aircraft I DIDN'T think was gorgeous. In regards to my original post, I'll try to be more clear. I'm not asking ED to fix it, I want to know if anyone can teach me how to do this sort of thing on DCS liveries in general. I use a lot of fictional paint jobs in my campaigns and it would be great if I could decide where the dynamic tail numbers are placed on a given aircraft. I've figured out how to change what number files they use, and obviously how to make the paint jobs in Photoshop, but for serial or tail numbers, I've had to either work with the ED placements, or paint them on in Photoshop. Also I am totally m'kay with this post being used for Hornet hype. Hornet hype is good, m'kay?
  4. While I'm really pleased to see the new RCAF paint jobs for the Hornet, I'm a little disappointed (which is probably silly) that they don't have the serial numbers on the tail, ie 188721. This got me thinking, does anyone know if it's possible to add dynamic tail numbers to a livery so that the number changes with the mission editor tail number? If so, can you teach me? FYI the term we're using is meticulous, not has-way-too-much-time-on-hands.
  5. We're having major lag spikes with clients disconnecting as we close with AI controlled MiG-21s. Lag starts at around 40nm and intensifies as we close. MiGs are on intercept missions. What are yours doing?
  6. Thank you for the quick reply. Ok that would make sense and could explain the jumpiness of the cargo. I just wouldn't have expected it to jump forwards. Do you think that is why the model of the sling is flickering, disconnected from the rest of the apparatus? It was a 1025kg load.
  7. Carrying slung cargo with the Ka-50, while in stable flight the cargo appears to jump, as if it is interacting with something more solid than wind. This is my first foray into cargo hauling so I am unsure if this is normal or a known issue. I have tried to show the jumping cargo in the attached screenshots. The reasons I first thought this might be a bug is because of the unattached appearance of the cargo hook model.
  8. And example of what I mean by the title: I set up an ammunition depot right beside a ground vehicle. I empty the vehicle of ammo and while literally touching the fence of the depot hit LAlt \. Sometimes (rarely) my vehicle will start the rearming process, the vast majority of the time I will simply see "Unable to start ammo replenishment: ammunition is not available." What I have also tried: Ammo Depot + FARP Ammo dump + CP Vehicle + Ural-375 + GPU Truck + Fuel Truck + Ammo Depot supplied by airfield. The ammo depots in question always have the default unlimited stockpiles for simplicity. Does anyone have any ideas or a test mission I could try to see what I am missing?
  9. So an update. I re-downloaded the web installer, did a complete reinstall of the base game, then my FC3 and Combined Arms modules. Did not fix it and still for the same commands. I can add disabling the fly by wire control in the Su-33 to the list as well. I cannot for the life of me think of what might be affecting just those commands on two independent installs. I am planning a complete reinstall of windows for my computer in the coming weeks so hopefully after that it'll work. But if anyone has any other ideas I'd be thrilled to try them. Thanks again to everyone who replied thus far.
  10. More good ideas and partial joy. In my game, assigned engine co-start to a joystick button, no effect in game, but like before the button was recognized while assigning it in the options. Both Game avionics and flight mode are disabled (unchecked) for both our cases. Interestingly in my brother's case it seems it was his keyboard; R-Shift Home and End were not recognized in the controls menu. Also, his ECM now works with the default key. He is going to reinstall his keyboard drivers next. At least we know what the problem is now. Thanks for all the help thus far everyone. "Strange" and "Problem" are pretty much my butter zone.
  11. I don't think that is the case as when we rebound such commands, we used the keyboard (as opposed to selecting the keys by the drop down menu). If that were the case those keys wouldn't register when we type them, correct?
  12. I hope this is the right place for this. My brother and I are noticing multiple commands that work for one of us but not the other across multiple planes. For example, he cannot use the ECM on his Su-25t. ECM pods are equipped and he has tried changing the keyboard command. He also cannot co-start both engines using RShift + Home (one at a time works) and I can, but on my Su-27 I cannot. My Su-33 also cannot disengage nose gear steering. In all cases we have tried changing the keyboard binding and I have also attempted two repairs using the installer repair tool. Does anyone have any advice?
