Thanks, that did help very much. I asked him to do CSAR, haha
-
Thanks for all the helpful comments. I will have another go. A walk through would be good though. I found one but it’s in French and not really a walk through. Thanks heaps
-
I did, but most of it doesnt make any sense to me. Like the first thing they tell you is something at 12 o’clock but I cant see anything. Then the pilot you need to rescue says he popped a flare I cant see that either. His location is not marked on the map. Then he says infantry are coming but I have no idea where he is. And before that they want anti aircraft sites taken out, I cant find them either.

Hi all, So I have completed hours of training in the A10C. I have completed all the in game tutorials. I have watched hours of you tube tutorials. Now you already no what I'm going to say. I still have no idea what to do when it comes to completing missions! I can fly the aircraft, I can do a ramp start, I can land using TACAN, Divert, ILS to land the aircraft. I can locate targets using the TGP, I can create mark points and use SPI to engage targets using all sensors. I can fire guns and accurately hit targets, all no problem. But then on the first mission "CSAR" you are thrown straight in the deep end totally unprepared for what they throw at you. I even downloaded the tactical training qualification thinking it would better prepare us for combat, but no, you all ready need to know all this stuff. What would be really good if somebody did some mission walk through's, because I dont think Im the only noob struggling with this stuff. Walk through's would be really great, and they would get loads of views and subscribers, so win win. Even if somebody did a mission walk through for CSAR, we could learn so much just from that one mission.

Which one is the calculated flight path and which one is the real heading. ie is the data block area the calculated flight path and the pitch ladder the real heading?
-
Is there a way to use the ball or offset pitch ladder to help us know how much crab angle to use during a crosswind landing.. I am finding it very difficult to know how much rudder to put into a crosswind landing. Instead of just figuring it out using the known wind in knots and direction of wind, it would be much easier if we could use an instrument. Thanks in advance.

What is the ball?

This is very good. This is all anybody needs to read really. Thank you

Saitek pro flight regular vs combat pedals?
tangodownNZ replied to Nascar's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This was a very good and helpful comment. Thank you I bought a second hand pair for $300NZD and I cant wait to try them. I know they aren’t the Bentley of rudder pedals but I think they are the best alternative to high end ones. As I have just got these I need to set them up. I read something about changing the registry so they work properly, do I still need to do this in 2017, or is there a firmware update that fixes what ever the issue was. Can somebody please explain how to do this step by step for dumbies. And why was this needed in the first place. Thanks -
Thats right. I am using the yaw rudder trim on sas panel because it keeps the rudder where you put it. The normal rudder keys go straight back to center as soon as you release them, great if you have pedals, not so good if your using keyboard. I only use this for crosswind landing, nothing else.

Saitek pro flight regular vs combat pedals?
tangodownNZ replied to Nascar's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Anybody still using these in 2017. It looks like they dont sell them anymore. They look like a good alternative to Slew Device RX Vipers which I know are good but very expensive. -
So close! Thanks for that, but here's the issue. Yes I can see where the rudder is now, but the indicator doesnt show where the rudder is in rudder trim, only normal rudder controls. And the problem with normal rudder controls is that it keeps snapping back to center as soon as you release the button. I might just have to get some pedals. Thanks anyway.

Ok thanks, I’ll check it out

Hi all, I was thinking it would be good if we could have a rudder indicator us who are less fortunate and can't afford rudder pedals can see where the rudder is. I tried mapping keys A and S to the rudder trim, but its too hard for a crosswind landing because they dont return to center so you need to guess where the rudder is. The other keys Z and X are also no good because they dont stay where you put them!

Thanks for all the replies and threads. I could walk around but couldn’t get back into the A10 using r-alt J Shouldn’t be that hard to write in should it Eagle Dynamics. They could make this awesome game even more awesome. Cheers

Can you exit the cockpit without bailing out?
tangodownNZ replied to SnakeBT6's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I agree come on eagle dynamics! This would be awesome. Shouldnt be that hard to write. -
Wouldn't it be cool if the pilot could get out the A10 and walk around. Even if you could control his decent after ejecting instead of just watching him come down. Im not talking full on interaction with weapons ect, just be able to walk around. I guess this is in the too hard basket.

Why use TACAN when ILS is available
tangodownNZ replied to tangodownNZ's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
You are right! I was using the divert page which automatically creates a waypoint. I thought that was ILS doing that. Thanks everyone. -
Why use TACAN when ILS is available
tangodownNZ replied to tangodownNZ's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Thanks for all the helpful info. But I can be way off the center line of the runway like perpendicular and 20Nm out and my bearing pointer still points to the airfield with only ILS, no TACAN. Thats why I thought whats the point of TACAN -
Why do you need to use TACAN when you can just use ILS. When I set up ILS it gives me the heading to the airfield and the range and all the info I need on my HSI. So if ILS is available why bother with TACAN.

Ok thanks Rowan, I'll try this

Batumi wrong heading numbers
tangodownNZ replied to tangodownNZ's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Yes it says 119 on the chart, which is close to 12 which is the rounded figure on the chart. But the field info on the CDU says the rounded figure is 13, and it says 13 on the actual runway marking, (painted on the runway)? Thanks for your reply -
Hi all, Im learning how to land using ILS. Im studying the youtube tutorials as well as the in game tutorial. My question is, when ATC gives you your fix heading, in my case 224 19, so head at a bearing of 224 deg for 19 Nm. How do I know when 19Nm has been reached in low vis. Is there a way to count down the miles. I thought I could set up a steer point at that location but I would need to calculate that all out for the TAD, and Im sure this isnt how they do it. Thanks,
