  1. Found it...here's the link for anyone else needing it. http://aviavirpil.ru/forum/showpost.php?p=6660&postcount=4 It would still be good to find a way to get the fps increase, as was said by the op, removing the reflections doesn't give back the fps. Some processing is going on somewhere.
  2. Whining ?... What is it with you people ? If you can't help me, don't answer my request. I'm well aware of all the FPS tweaks, none of them include the reflections, which is why I asked here, so all your nerdy assumptions are wrong. You didn't help...you hindered.
  3. I disagree with you , I think they are too small. What file do I need to alter to change the splash effect ?
  4. Yes I know, but flying the A10 on a 20in monitor isn't realism. Thank you Mr Obvious...in the meantime I'll do what everyone else does and try and squeeze as much FPS out of my retro pc as is possible. Does anyone have a copy of that reflections mod ?....I search but cannot find. thx
  5. That may be all technically and scientifically correct, but it looks crap in game. Maybe a few of the tracers do bounce of the water.....when fired from a BOAT at about 12 feet from the surface! Also in FC2 the water splashes are practically non-existent. It's an all round weak effect, they need more oomf! I've just switched from LOMAC to FC2 and there is a MASSIVE difference in the effects...very dissapointing. Cool music on the video tho' :D
  6. Cool, it's been helpful, your 3GB switch solution has solved my C++ Runtime errors too. Thanks much.
  7. Hi Cali, yup makes it loud and ruins the immersion. I've checked lockonfiles and can't find it.
  8. Guys I need all the FPS I can get, did anyone find a way to remove reflections AND get a fps increases? I never use reflections anyway they make me feel claustrophobic. The link for the mod is down any chance of a mirror ? and does anyone know if jettisoning the canopy affects the flight model ? thx
  9. Wow, this is much better...great work, thx. Can the explosions and smoke be improved ?
  10. Hmmmm, I seem to have found my problem.... I've started to tweak my graphics again (heavy tweaking required for x850). Once again I lost the ground textures In options.lua when I change... ["haze"] = 1, to.... ["haze"] = 0, I lose the ground textures....is this right?
  11. Well I haven't been there for a while, but yup I've tried 128 and 256. Ok, I've stripped all traces of FC2 from my PC & registry. Reinstalled ATI card drivers after a clean sweep with driver cleaner. Reinstalled DirectX. Defragged Hard Drive. Re-installed FC2 to C:\Games\FC2 Applied 1.2.1 update.... and........ :D I see ground textures. I'm not sure what it was, but all is well now. Thanks for the help guys...
  12. I was wondering if this was still being developed / refined / improved ? or better still made into a Modman Mod for us non-nerdy pilots. :D I've just made the switch to FC2 and miss tearing up the ground with the GAU-8. You know these tracers bounce off the water too?...weird, it just doesn't feel right.
  13. @Svend_Dellepude Yup , first thing I tried was Mipmap settings and and anisotropic, due to the nature of the texture problem. On, off, 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x, 16x. nothing has any effect.
  14. Yup , AGP + 256 MB, and I'm forced to use legacy drivers. I'm tired of nerding around, I just want to fly the warthog :(
  15. Thx Mustang but no change, graphics are still the same, maybe this card is simply not good enough for FC2.
  16. ....are you ****ing serious ?...please tell me how I could accidentally not be running a piece of software that I just bought, and mistake it for something else ? You know what.......you might be right.....that's my problem...the reason I can't get the ground textures to look right is because it's Quake fu***ing 4... dude ...in future.....ignore my posts...you have nothing constructive to say. @Vekkinho Why would I need to try user created terrain textures?
  17. winXP 32 bit, 2gb ram. No I'm just working from the default install.
  18. Everything's set to "High" using the "High" preset, it still looks the same. I've attached my configs to my previous post....maybe the problem lies in there. I backed up my graphics.cfg before editing, but not my options.lua. I restored the graphics.cfg, could be a problem with the otions.lua ?...dunno, but something is really off. thanks for looking.
  19. Ah my bad I forgot to post this, ..I'm running this on a lower end system , the GFX card is an old ATI X850. All settings or off or application controlled, Mipmap is set to quality. This card uses legacy drivers , maybe that's the issue. ? Menu in game is unchanged from default install. graphics.cfg options.lua
  20. I've been tweaking around with Flaming Cliffs 2 now and can't seem to get the ground textures looking anything like the screenshots I see in other peoples posts. It's got me puzzled, It looks like this from a default install before I tweak anything. I've read all the tweak threads and documents here but nothing works. Anyone have any pointers ? I know this card uses legacy drivers , so updating them is not possible. tia
  21. Bring back the good ol 3d preview in the encyclopedia, 3d in the editor would be cool too, but integrated so you don't have to jump out of the editor to view the encyclopedia. And a PDF or bound book of the encyclopedia (if there isn't one already) Incremental difficulty, instead of just "game" or "sim" might lessen the learning curve. Real birds would be neat, now we have the "virtual" ones. Better more realistic explosions for ground units. Better more realistic animations for ground personnel and ejection sequence (that parachute cracks me up) ..oh and as it's xmas .. a partridge in a pear tree :D
  22. @sobek I wasn't asking for help or trying to be a smartass. Thx, yes I'm aware the YouTube ones and the ones on DSC's main site which led me to this thread, in search of a higher rez version of this Startup Video. You can't "take control" in a video.....which was my point. :joystick: Actually now I've found all these new detailed and informative user made tutorials....I'm thinking it's a good thing that ED's system is broken. ;)
  23. I sure hope this is still going to develop into a series. As a newbie to BS, the learning curve is steep and at times can be a little overwhelming, but I can sit down with this Startup video and learn with ease. There are guys with knowledge, and those with the ability to teach and be understood, this guy has it all. A nice quote at the end of the video..... Tell me, and I will forget. Show me, and I may remember. Involve me, and I will understand. oh.....and I need to say......ED......you release the most complex Sim to date....and the first thing you break in the patch......are the tutorials....Genius....pure Genius. :disgust:
  24. Perfect...and no programming required :) Thanks this will save me a lot of head scratching.
  25. Is there any way to work out the FPS average in FC2 ? More like a benchmark. Yes there's tons of fps tweaks, but it's sometimes difficult to see exactly what the benefits are..... however small. For example ....... If we had a generic Track Replay, say a 2 minute track utilizing all fps killing aspects of the game, which then showed a FPS average at the end of the playback, it might make things much clearer for us. I know nothing about programming for FC2 but would like to know if this is possible. thx
