  1. The map is already 200gbs but sure, let's just expand it a few hundred more km in every direction so everyone can have their favorite airports. Next thing you know, the Brits and Italians will be in here wanting their piece of the pie too Seriously though, I agree with the sentiment that expanding the map northward would allow for better Baltic/North Sea scenarios, but we have to remember that this map is centered around Fulda and is already planned to be one of, if not the largest, in DCS, especially when it comes to urban areas and the sheer volume of airfields. Yes, it would be nice to see more French airfields, more of Poland, etc, but it would also be nice to have a map covering all of Europe. The line has to be drawn somewhere.
  2. I'm trying not to be a negative nancy but I'm sure myself and others are frustrated mostly because we are skeptical such an endeavor is even possible. In the spirit of being positive, I am going to assume that such an announcement means we will get massively improved EW and datalink simulation, LOAL-capable AIM-9Xs and 120Ds, and all the other munitions that the F35 carried when it initially entered service. If so that would be a massive addition to DCS. I could even be hopeful that one day ED will leave its policy of restricting certain aircraft to a fixed point in time and allow the F16C and other aircraft to carry these new munitions. An F16C with Hobbit, modern AIM-9Xs and 120s, and especially AESA, would help level the playing field in terms of "balancing".
  3. The only reason this is possible is because DCS can't actually support or simulate the meat and potatoes of the F35, which is also the stuff that ED wouldn't be able to get info on. So all it needs to do is drop bombs, shoot missiles, and look pretty, which can be done from public sources and videos. That being said, 99.99% of the player base wont know what they are missing anyways
  4. And I should add this was tested with multiple F16s but not other type aircraft, so that may be a factor.
  5. This has been reported before but I’m not sure if there has been a solution. When acting as a player JTAC and passing MGRS grids through the binos, they are consistently 300-600 meters off the actual target. This was confirmed with multiple aircraft and multiple targets. When using LST to identify the targets, it worked correctly, with the laser being right on the target. Additionally, I was only able to test one target using last/long instead of MGRS, and it appeared to be more accurate, but I cannot say for certain. From my POV as the JTAC, it seemed like the grids were getting picked up beyond the target, as if the ranging laser was passing through the target. I will do some more testing when I have time.
  6. Long-time DCS and Arma player interested in acting as a JTAC/FAC for a CAS-focused squadron. I have LotATC and can act as ATC or GCI as well. North American timezones preferred.
  7. While I spend the majority of my time in the viper, there are many other aircraft that could employ APKWS. I would prefer to see it be available for all aircraft that can carry it. Syria is a current warzone. We have a Syria map and all the assets that belong in it. Minor software differences that civilians don't even know about aren't as big of a concern to me as not having simple capabilities that even the Ukrainians are utilizing. As far as other modern weapons are concerned, the main argument for the APKWS is it is no different than strapping a GBU-12 to something. It simply requires you set a laser code and there are likely some aerodynamic differences in regard to missile trajectory but otherwise, it does not require any modification to the jet. If we were to pull F16s decommissioned in 2007 out of the boneyard and throw them back in the air, they could carry APKWS. My point was that I work on jets older than ours, yet have more capabilities because they have aftermarket systems that are plug-and-play. Again, the 16 is not the only aircraft that would benefit from carrying APKWS. I never made that argument but now that you mention it, ill make sure to include it next time. Granted its not an ED product. Since I didnt say it before ill say it now. How does ED plan to make a dynamic campaign system and yet only limit the F16 to 2007 weaponry?
  8. Yeah just trying to figure out if ED is still sticking with their mentality of limiting aircraft features because wE aRe oNLy sIMuLaTInG A 2007 aIrcRAft Would be nice to be able to do CAS training with an F-5 or employ the F16 in a post-2012 threat environment Really just annoyed that the F16s I work on that rolled out of the factory 3 decades ago have more capability than DCS's block 52 because systems like APKWS and DEP that don't require any modification to the jet are not implemented. Granted it takes coding to implement but I would assume it is pretty minor since many other aircraft can already utilize them Not like DCS is the most realistic thing in the world anyways, so I do not understand the apprehension
  9. I am looking into creating a DCS mod, and this was my first thought as I used to own and fly one in airshows. However, I don't really think the interest justifies the amount of time I would have to spend. Especially considering there is already an OV-8 mod to serve the LAR/FO role. A-37 or some other fairly simplistic Vietnam era jet fighter is more what I am considering. That being said, if anybody wants help with an O-2 project I would be glad to help. I am very familiar with the airplane and its systems and before I sold mine I took probably 100 pictures of the airplane with the intent of making an RC equivalent.
  10. Hello, I'm looking for a group that fly's the F16 and focuses on realistic USAF operations, specifically, the A2G mission. Looking for groups with skilled JTACs (real world experience is a +) and flight/mission leads who know their stuff. I understand most F16 squadrons are full right now and if they aren't they are really selective, but im just looking for some insight on if there are any groups like this that exist or if I need to start my own. Any suggestions would be appreciated, recruiting or not. I dont have the time to go and investigate every virtual squadron to see what they're like so hopefully this narrows it down a bit.
  11. Just picked up the F86 so I hope theres still room Tora117 F86
