  1. This was a fun WB to fly until this engine update dropped last night

For the first time since I purchased the plane I found it a chore to fly and fight in especially since the AI are not having to use the same rules, it was way ,more fun before to use even if maybe not so realistic, but my question is why is the P47 engine so different as its the same engine the P&W R-2800 Wasp.

I'm back to using the P47 again until the engine becomes more robust in use.

  2. I basically asked the same a few weeks back, and was rightfully pointed towards the disclaimer at the end of the video:

One can still argue on this being "misleading", but in the end it's ED's choice of marketing of course
Ah didn't see that, still those models have been shown for about 1-2 years now, it's amazing that it's taking such a long time to add them to the game, yet they show them in trailers.

Maybe their AI logic is still too simple to use, mind you how much more simple could they be compared to what we have now for ground AI.

Anyway once the C130 is out I'll wait to see how good the logistics are before I buy, because it's very lacking in the other ED modules like the Mi 8, Huey and the newer CH47.

  3. Why do all the latest official DCS videos show the new soilder models, they have been doing this now for a couple of years, yet they are not in the game at all, they really are showing misleading content.

The C130 looks amazing though, I'll purchase once I see how the logistics work and if this is expanded out to the CH47 which is very lacking in that department offically.

  4. My god the new George menu is messy to use, ED needs to follow the Heatblur Jester menu format it would be so so much easier to use with all the new options.

  5. Wait a minute! You have set curves on your FFB base? Try without and see if the stick moves when trimming then. DCS does NOT support curves with FFB, because the curves will never match with the actual linear stick position the FFB depends on.
Support for this has been requested in the general wishlist section. It might not be so noticeable in an airplane, but try it in a helicopter and the trim will ALWAYS be off.

    Cheers!

Ah ok, that makes sense I'll try it.

TBH though I'd rather keep the curves than have the stick move with trimming as it's quite terrible to fly it without curves.

It's the only plane I have setup curves on, every other plane or helo I have don't have curves and works fine with the FFB

  6. Once I had my curves dialled in after watching a few videos and also set up a slow trim option for the controls I managed to eliminate the nose bounce a lot from the plane and could fly it hands off when trimmed up, it felt so much nicer to fly.

After yesterdays patch it seems to have more power which has helped in the overall experience.

My FFB stick though still doesnt move as I trim the plane as others have said it should, I have a Rhino FFB stick.

I'm not very knowledgeable on TelemFFB. I just turn it on, boot up the game (DCS in this case) and play. It shows F4U-1D as the 'current aircraft', and my stick doesn't move when I trim. Again, it and the BF 109 are the only two WW2 planes that don't. This is also the case when I don't use TelemFFB. Is there some setting that you can think of that I need to modify or something? Trim moves the stick for you without having touched any TelemFFB settings?

Im the same with my Rhino FFB the stick does not move when I trim the F4U

  8. Have you taken off from a carrier yet?
reason I say that, I took off from a carrier and went full throttle and it flipped me over into a snap roll and went into the sea. That happened a lot with the Corsair and cost many a life.
Next time I tried not with full throttle and with a bit of rudder correction once going off the end of the deck had it under control. I agree with you that on shore based takeoffs it’s fairly simple in fact trimmed nicely it just lifts of the ground by itself. Maybe that’s how she was unfortunately I’ve never flown a Corsair so can’t say for sure?
I have taken off from both an dirt af and a carrier, it's the same process, pretty easy to do.

  9. Why is it so easy to take off, flying on the other hand not so much.

On the runway all trims set, gun the throttle and it starts rolling in a straight line, only as the rear wheel comes up does it start to move to the L side a little which is countered with a little rudder.

Also ground taxing is like any other US based WB with differential brakes and really quite easy,

All the stories I heard was this would be really difficult to take off in, are there some factors that are not being simulated ??

  10. When you bail out your head disconnects from your body and you can see the pilot animation of him climbing out of the cockpit, then you fall through the plane floor and join the body again as you float down.

When you land the body then again disconnects from the head and lands and lies down, the body then gets back up and joins the head again, a very Frankenstein moment :).

    This was in VR

  11. Well after flying it tonight the flight model is about the same as when the P47 and Mossie came out, very nose twitchy even with a good FFB stick, hopefully some updates will fix that.

My conclusion is its still its a nice module but with terrible sounds package that lest it down a lot, they defiantly need to get better sounds for it.

Happy with my purchase overall through

  12. My plan was to purchase tonight but I'm seeing some mixed reports online at various places about the flight model being not too good. My base judgement would be against the Jug.

I also have a Rhino FFB stick, how's the FFB in it.

    Thanks

  13. In our group which is mostly MP focused we use the community created TTI missions and also the Foothold and Pretence and Cfags missions that are community supplied and then we alter them to suit or group.

So with those missions we use SRS for comms, then Mist, Moose, Splash Damage 3.2, Stopgap, CTLD which are used by the mission designers that all used to fill in the shortcomings of what the core DCS can supply, this helps us to create a better combat environment for our group to play on our servers.

Our servers would be able to host vanilla DCS missions but these missions with all the add on 3rd party scripts within the supplied missions from the awesome DCS community make our servers a better place.

We also run the following mods, A4E, Hercules, UH-60L and OH-6A
