  1. The top brass in this case were total a-holes in this situation. Captain Crozier should be lauded for his concern over the well-being of his crew - I really doubt our national security is any more diminished by having the Roosevelt offline for a very brief period. The cause of any national insecurity is POTUS and his gang of f**kheads! :helpsmilie: It may be a silly thing, but in DCS I have stuck with flying basically one squadron - I have a roster and am slowly filling up its' pilot slots; today I just added B. Crozier as the squadron XO. Every time I fly, I choose a different pilot and keep track of their hours, points earned, etc. It just adds to my enjoyment of this great simulation. Stay safe out there, Bob N. (USN 1968-1974, Vietnam, Naval Nuclear Power School)
  2. When you first get into DCS, choose Options (the gear icon in the upper left of your menu screen), go to the GAMEPLAY tab and ensure that Game Flight Mode is NOT checked. That should do it.
  3. Oftentimes I will get on the radio, tune to the airbase I wish to get to, request to land, and then get an initial course and distance from the controller at the AB I've contacted. The approach plates can then be used to get a more precise course once I am on final.
  4. My condolences to Alex's family, friends and co-workers. Blue Skies always...
  5. Thankzzzzz! I appreciate the quick reply...now I'm off to run a few laps!!!
  6. Where be this mission ? This looks like a blast but I can't seem to find the .miz file in the DCS Downloads area under F-18C files. Can someone let me know where I can get this one. . . thx! https://forums.eagle.ru/images/smilies/helpsmilie.gif
  7. Thanks for the feedback guys. Maybe DCS plans to change things in this area down the line. I might try the cited mod down the line a bit... Blue Skies !
  8. Since getting the Hornet module in October I have been trying to find out anything about how to get a correct rank for a US Navy pilot - what I see is the USAF rank in the Logbook when I create a new pilot. Does anyone know of a way to have a Navy pilot have naval ranks, i.e. Ensign, LtJg, Lieutenant, Lt Commander, etc? In a similar vein, I would assume that non-US military organizations have their own rank structure - how does on set up a pilot to use the correct rank "tree" in their respective service, if you will. Appreciate any input on this... BoB N. USN- 6 years active duty and never once came across a naval officer with a rank of 2nd Lieutenant... just sayin!
  9. Hornet Time So Far Well, I just did some totalling and it turns out I've got 19.3 hours in the F-18C so far, with 28 landings and 4 crashes out of my 32 flights. All landings to date are straight-in to a field - no carrier attempts yet. I figure I would try and do my training kinda like IRL and wait a while b/4 coming down "on the boat". I do not know how much time I've put into building simple missions to use for practice so far, but I'm sure the number of hours far exceeds the actual flight time. As I did when first owning DCS and learning the F-15, I have several "pilots' set up, spread among 4 different squadrons and I have a competition to see whose the best ( VFA 25, 31, 84 & 143 ) . It helps keep the interest up and I get to use a number of different Hornet liveries downloaded from the DCS site. Blue Skies https://forums.eagle.ru/images/smilies/pilotfly.gif
