  1. silverdevil's post in Black screen on launcher was marked as the answer
hello. thanks for making another topic.
i suggest going into DCS folder in Saved Games. Find the options.lua file. open it in Notepad within that file find the line ["launcher"] = true, and change to ["launcher"] = false,
    see if DCS opens.

  2. silverdevil's post in Unable to update DCS in the Philippines was marked as the answer
    hello
this is likely a problem with your ISP or your own network equipment. it is not a system wide issue with DCS updates. the VPN cleans up DNS issues. it probably means your locally provided DNS is not the best. no offense. it happens to many users from all over. too many to count.
i suggest you post your latest autoupdate_log.txt found in the DCS install folder.
also test using ping and nslookup of cdn.digitalcombatsimulator.com
try disabling your antivirus and firewall, checking your Windows hosts file for any incorrect entries, ensuring your computer's date, time, and time zone are correct.
  3. silverdevil's post in dxdiag crash on startup was marked as the answer
    hello
    you crash is
    E:\Games\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\dxgi.dll
this is not a standard dll installed by DCS. searching implies the dll came from ReShade.
    1. Remove Third-Party DLLs
    Locate and delete:
Check your DCS World installation folder for a dxgi.dll file in the bin or bin-mt directory. This file is not part of DCS and is often added by graphics mods like ReShade or DLSSTweaks.
    Use the DCS repair tool:
After removing any user-added DLLs, run the DCS World repair tool and choose the option to "remove files" to clean the installation.
    2. Clean Graphics Driver Installation
Download DDU: Download the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) from a trusted source.
Run DDU: Boot into Safe Mode and run DDU to completely uninstall your current graphics drivers.
Install fresh drivers: Download the latest stable graphics drivers for your GPU from the manufacturer's website and perform a clean installation.
    3. Update and Repair
Update Windows: Ensure your Windows operating system is fully up-to-date.
Verify DCS installation: If you're a Steam user, verify the integrity of the game files.
i know you said you ran a repair but evidently it was unsuccessful.
try these steps and come back to let me know the status.
    good luck.

  4. silverdevil's post in Game Crash but still working was marked as the answer
    hello
    the crash is
    C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin-mt\libcef.dll
    it may be corrupted somehow.
first thing to try is change your shortcut to the BIN folder. not BIN-MT.
    also run a full repair.
    please come back with status.
    good luck

do you have win 11 or 10? general consensus is 11 does better with cpu management. i believe most users have abandoned the various cpu managers. unfortunately i do not suffer any problems with 11th gen i9.
  6. silverdevil's post in TrackIR disconnected/connected message was marked as the answer
hello. try Disable hotplug in settings.
or if not using, close trackir software from taskbar before going into DCS.
  7. silverdevil's post in Help with file structure was marked as the answer
check your DCS.log. it should show you which folder is being used.
  8. silverdevil's post in DCS Launcher Blank was marked as the answer
    hello.
it does look like you have the latest c++. installed when you patched.
perhaps try this. rename your whole DCS folder in Saved Games to DCS.bak. then run DCS again from the BIN folder (this folder will eventually go away) to see if a new DCS folder is created and launcher opens. it it works you can copy your control bindings from the old folder to the new folder.
also post up your options.lua. this file apparently is changed when DCS is ran. not sure why.

    rollback driver https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEeDnSAKl8s
leave these two alone for the time being.
    Game Mode disabled
    Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling disabled
do the roll back of nvidia driver. run the sim and drop the DCS.LOG file from that session.
we will do this using little steps.
  12. silverdevil's post in Crash Help Please. was marked as the answer
@Martallica hello. i dropped your log from 4/11 crash into analyzer.
    Errors
    Hot plug Events
Disable hot plug in your CONTROLS section.
    Your DCS has crashed
    The crash occurred inside edCore.dll.
PLEASE REMOVE ANY CUSTOM MODS FIRST AND CHECK,
    IF THE ISSUE PERSISTS!
    If that does not help:
    Try a !repair.
Delete Saved Games\DCS\fxo and metashaders2 and try again.
Next, delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\TEMP\DCS and try again.
Next, try renaming Saved Games\DCS to DCS.old and try again.
Carry out the suggested repair steps one after the other.
If all fails, open a !support ticket.
    Tuning Tips
Set Preload Radius to max. 60000.
Tuning tips are recommendations for better FPS based on your CPU, GPU and RAM.
They might result in slightly decreased display quality.
  13. silverdevil's post in Windows 11 . Multiple screens not staying placed was marked as the answer
good to hear you (seem to) have sorted it. you may also try powered hub. i have had experienced USB issues like this. USB power is not very strong and too long of a cable can cause issues. and guids of devices may change moving them around.

hello. one error i see is for a mod. you should disable all mods and then run a repair. also rename the MODS folder to .BAD. something amiss there.
i ran your log thru the log analyzer.

    Disable Core Parking.
Verify that this is configured correctly in Windows:

  15. silverdevil's post in Can't install was marked as the answer
@SharpeXB my first thought was AV too as @sleighzy suggested. another idea is to go to C:\Users\Jim\AppData\Local\Temp\ and delete the DCS folder contents. it is temp files and my folders are empty. when you retry the process it should repopulate as needed.
  16. silverdevil's post in New Hard drive and transfer issues was marked as the answer
negative. only AC that you have show in Instant Action.
  17. silverdevil's post in Multiplayer Crash was marked as the answer
just a quick look. it seems you have some unofficial MODS.
    AKIZUKI
    ProjectHAB
    SU-30
just to be sure, i would suggest you renaming your saved games\DCS.openbeta to openbeta.bak. start DCS. exit DCS. then copy your config folder from BAK to the newly generated openbeta folder. then run another repair.
  18. silverdevil's post in Sensitivity of Pedals was marked as the answer
in my recent attempts the AC is empty except fuel. taxiing seemed more touchy than i remember.
i made some headway last night. i did a tad of deadzone and some curve. i do not know why all this time using the same settings were all of a sudden different. i had no curve before.

hello. i suggest as a test to change from MSAA to TAA
Set Preload Radius to max. 30000.
    Enable Full Screen mode.
    Disable civil traffic.
Consider using TAA instead of MSAA.
see if these changes matter. MSAA is a known resource hog.

  21. silverdevil's post in Crash in MP was marked as the answer
hello. this does not appear to be DCS crashing. the log does not indicate it anyway. have you looked in window event viewer logs for something reported at the same time?

  22. silverdevil's post in After launching DCS I have problems was marked as the answer
unofficial mods as you mention are not supported by ED. you need to ask the mod developer. however anyone official from ED and other volunteers on the forum will urge you to disable all the mods and try the sim with official mods. if the sim works then you have a mod issue. essentially using scientific method. ED is not in the business to give us a base game thats free and then support free modules. not good business sense. another thing you can try that is quick is rename the DCS folder in the Saved Games folder. when DCS restarts you will get a new fresh DCS folder which will be free of debris.
  23. silverdevil's post in DCS is downloading lots of unneeded aircraft was marked as the answer
you get all these core mods because, if you use MP for instance, how would the AI appear or other players for that matter appear to you? all AC have to have a model to display. SP is the same. if you download an SP mission, you need the models.
  24. silverdevil's post in 2.9.7.59263 Crash Effects2.dll was marked as the answer
hello. the DCS.log shows just before the crash scripting errors. i am seeing MOOSE errors too. you could try to remove the scripts and see what happens. you could also try to lessen the smoke density.
  25. silverdevil's post in Virus detected by Windows Defender when trying to update DCS through steam was marked as the answer
hello. lots of posts about this same thing. not virus. these files get flagged because they are encrypted. this keeps people stealing intellectual property.
try this if you are comfortable
add exceptions for Saved Games and the Steam folder where DCS resides. i have standalone. so my game folder will be different.
