  1. The economics of modules

If one were to commission a module what would be a reasonable ball-park figure for something like the community developed A4, or a limited FC3 module, versus a full study sim like the Hornet or Tomcat?

    so what do you think?

are the numbers posted so far large enough for your module?

  2. Do I need 32GB of Memory now?

Just about EVERY app phones home and transfers stuff. And because it's encrypted, you can't really see whats in it. I could go through the trouble of getting the ephemeral keys to try and decode the TLS 1.2/3 packets, and then try to re-engineer any binary bits, but at some point it seems pointless.

    yep.

that’s why some of these threads make me smile.

the battles some of us choose

    makes life interesting.

  3. Why so many buying the Rift S with that potato resolution at 80 Hz? That's the least impressive HMD out of them all.

least impressive on paper, but it reviews well when actually used.

you can pick the paper winner if that’s important.

  4. Index specs released

Probably coding inside-out support for a camera arrangement like that would lead to them being sued by Microsoft or Oculus (pretty sure there are patents), but if that stuff is open source, Valve still has it on the feature list and is safe.

so it was a business decision to spend r&d time and resources on a feature they can’t use or charge for, and instead, absorb the costs and give it away for free on the hope gamers will write software for it, which they won’t be able to monetize?

    are you sure?

it doesn’t sound like a very good business plan. i’d be surprised if valve made a mistake like that.
