  1. That would be very simple to make honsetly in the mission editor
  2. You can't really break anything playing with the ME, I'd suggest start putting stuff down on the map and doing stuff with it IE triggers, conditions etc.
  3. Also I mentioned in the briefing its imperative you destroy the commander's truck and the bridge to prevent forces for closing in on the pilot.
  4. Ok here it is. Hopefully everyone enjoys it. Looking for some constructive criticism! :) Thanks!
  5. True, I just didnt want a bunch of people testing a mission that was crappy/didnt work etc.
  6. I guess I should have mentioned, its SP.
  7. Ive got a mission I've been working and was looking for one or two volunteers to play it and see what they think, give me some feedback, etc. Its a CSAR mission, with a few suprises (hopefully). Its not 100% by any means, but before I build the briefings, etc I want to have the core mission down. So with that said, any takers?
  8. This sim has a tendency to do that...Any free moment I have between 2 kids/wife, a puppy, work...its spent on flying the A-10 :)
  9. On my approach I try to stay between 130-140knts with speedbrakes about 30%, and I pop the speedbrakes 100%, chop throttles, and try to have a nice slow sink rate, touching down @ 100-110 knts, with positive pitch on the nose. Speaking of landings, and not to toot my own horn, but I made a incredible, spectacular landing today with one engine out, and shot to pieces. The wheels so gently kissed the pavement without even a chirp. It was so good, I saved the track to watch again! :DI LOVE THIS SIM!!! :pilotfly:
  10. I do the same thing...
  11. I guess I was the opposite. I've been into planes since I can remember. My grandfather and uncle were both in the USAF, and I have other families in other branches. My brother in law is a maintenance test pilot for the Apache, another uncle in the Army as well. My step dad flies for the FAA, my mom has her private pilots license. I've flown some in private planes, seaplanes, corporate jets...I love flying and planes. I've had pretty much bought every flight sim I could find since I could remember, and like you have found this to be an amazing simulation. We've come a long way in terms of details, graphics, immersion. Everytime I climb into my virtual A-10C cockpit, I smile :)
  12. I've had an x-65 for a bit now, been meaning to put together some sort of review, but just havent had time. I came from an X52, non pro to the x-65. I scored a cheap one on ebay for about $150.00. Compared to the x52, the x-65 is night and day, hands down, considerably more impressive. Buttons, stick & throttle all feel more professional and solid. I also realized I use the keyboard less and less. The pressure sensing at first was weird to get used to. It did not feel natural. But as I developed my HOTAS setup, and force settings, I've got it pretty much dialed in - the stick feels almost like an extension of my hand. The ability to dial in the force for instance, on gun runs, I crank up the force, the plane is much more stable and I've found I am much more successful on guns/rockets than before. But when I need to do more combat maneuvering, evading missiles etc, I lower the force setting and I barely have to touch it. Anyways, the cost / performance ratio for me was perfect - the TM Warthog was just a bit more than I wanted to spend. The x65 works beautifully in DCS:BS, and FSX, But most of my stick time lately has been in the A-10C.
  13. Ok, glad to see I'm not the only one... This is so frustrating...
  14. Ok this sucks...Everytime I save, I have to delete the hold command for EVERY unit, then readd and resave...I just tried adding a new vehicle, saved, added the hold, saved, deleted the hold, saved, readded, saved, and it worked for THAT unit, but not the original unit that WAS working.
  15. You nailed it, works beautifully now! Deleted the hold, saved the mission, exiting the ME, went back in, edited the hold back in, and flew it and it works. You can't understand how happy I am now! Im wondering if I'm the only one having these issues or if others are as well? I also am curious if this is a case of patching, versus full install? Regardless, thank you for your help!!!!
  16. Ok, I sort of understand what you are saying...but what do you mean only use 'flag is true' conditions? Are you talking about the IS USER then # field, then check mark? Don't every check/uncheck the check mark? I also tried deleting the hold and re-adding as you suggested - no change...? My truck keeps going past the waypoint. I'm wondering if I should do a clean install of 1.1.0.8, I think I patched from a full install of 1.1.0.7.
  17. Ok, I moved the waypoint a considerable ways before the bridge, the truck blows right through the waypoint. Also, since i originally created that mission a patch or two ago, I decided to start over new, on 1.1.0.8. Created a new mission, same setup, but made another unit ROE's Weapons free on flag 1. So, I'm getting the msg when the truck is blown up, I'm getting the change in ROE, and however the truck is ignoring it...
  18. I've tried changing the NO EVENT to ON DESTROY, no change. The trigger is not working on the trucks, they should stop at the waypoint if the cmdr unit is dead, but they dont. But I do get the message "bombs away" so the trigger/flag is being initiated the unit is just not responding to it.
  19. Perfect! Thank you! Completely forgot to check the DCS screenshots folder! Doh! I'm definitely destroying the "cmdr" unit before the other unit makes it to the waypoint. I could swear I've got mine setup exactly like yours, but mine isnt working, so I must be doing something wrong. Heres the setup - The "cmdr" unit is the one sitting right on the bridge. I'm trying to blow the bridge to prevent other units from crossing, using the cmdr unit as the trigger, since I couldnt show the bridge blowing in a trigger. The waypoint I want the truck to stop at is the 1, right before the bridge. The reason for all this silliness is that even with the bridge blown, the trucks drive right over the water and cross anyways, hence me generating this trigger to stop them once the bridge is blown. And the trigger - When you blow up the cmdr unit, I get the msg so I know the trigger is working. I've changed the flag number to 5 to make sure I wasn't using 1, and no change. I've attached the mission, hopefully someone can take a quick peek and tell me what I'm screwing up! quick_CSAR.miz
  20. Ok, so that worked...I get the msg when the unit is destroyed. So that would mean my problem lies with my unit commands... It would be a start condition and not a stop condition right? Also, is there a way to take screen shots of the mission editor, I tried for the life of me and all I get when I do a print screen is a capture of my desktop. I tried in windowed and full screen mode, no change.
  21. Geesh that is a simple test! I will try that and let you know. Thanks!!
  22. On my way to making my first mission, and I thought I had it figured out, but its not working. I'm sure its easy for most of you pros in here, but I just cant get it. I'm trying to make a unit stop at a waypoint if another unit is destroyed. I've got the unit selected, goto the waypoint I want him to stop at, hit advanced options, add , perform task -> hold, then condition, the IS USER is checked, and the number 1 in the box, and a check mark in the box to the right of that. So this should mean at waypoint 1, hold if flag 1 is true? Then in my triggers, I have a ONCE (event ON DESTROY), Condition is UNIT DEAD, unit #5, and then Action is FLAG ON, 1. So if I destroy unit 5, then flag 1 should go on right? The unit I want to stop is defintely not making to the way point before I destroy unit 5, so I wouldnt think it would be a timing issue?
  23. I can tell you I did the Instant Action mission (Easy-spring Georgia) about a million times. Since the latest patch they made it somewhat easier, removing SAMs - I think two Strela's. But either way you get a nice variety of weapons deployment, JTAC/Wingman involvement and you can land at the end :)
  24. EtherealN - awesome description - I could never fully grasp flags, but your post made it very easy to see!!!
