Honestly, I was so skeptical about how good TrackIR really was...and how much I would benefit from using it. All I can say is it has completely changed my fun and immersion factor. It makes life SO much easier when you are coming off a bomb or gun run to look back real quick and see how you did.

I second that, my MBP Core2Duo from Sept 2007 finally had something break - well actually not really. I was getting a SMART alarm that the harddrive was failing some I/O writes, so I replaced it. Plugged in new 500gb HD, kicked off TimeMachine and its better than new :) I've never had a computer (Mac or PC) that has run 24 x 7 and never had anything fail. And I've build plenty of PCs for myself, and work in the IT field over 10 years.

In a side note to this - on that mission, I finally found a somewhat successful way to combat the fulcrums. I have the second element anchor out roughly 10nms offshore at a decent altitude, and I take my wingman and drop to the deck. We close in quickly, go feet dry and pop up and can sometimes flank them. The last time I tried they were at our 2 o clock moving to 3, and i got both AIM-9s off - one at each fulcrum, my wingman got one off. His connected on fulcrum one, however he got hit by a quick shot from that guy. My AIM-9 heading for fulcrum #2 connected on rear quarter, downing him pretty quick. So over all, it was Warthogs 2, Fulcrums 1. And my second element came in with the skies free to help clean up the ground party. Sorry to go off topic :)

Since there is no dual-stage trigger on the x65, what are you guys using for your PAC?

Since price WAS a factor for me, I went with a Saitek X65 purchased off of ebay for $150 shipped. I'm sure its going to be considerably better than my current x52, plus I'm not locked into a A-10 based stick and throttle. I'm sure I'll post a review once I get it setup and running.

For what its worth, I'm using my x52 (non-pro) and it has been decent, with the MFDs. Recently I scored a x65 on eBay for right at $150. For the difference in price between the x65 and the warthog, I think I will be pleased. Granted the x65 isn't "perfect" by any means, but it gives me a considerably better stick than the plain x52 with dual throttle control.

Yeah I was trying to snipe them, one went for around 200 the other was like 180ish? There was a 3rd finished this morning, at 180ish... :( I should have spent a few extra bucks on my bid but I was being super cheap. I too am on the hunt :D

Just out of curiosity, what happens with all the "custom" buttons that are specific to the A-10 when you goto use it with the next DCS sim? Like the Autopilot, EAC etc switches? I just hate to spend that much money for a HOTAS and then be "locked" in so to speak. Trying to decide on a X65 or a warthog...possibly upgrading my x52 as a graduation gift to myself :)

I loved BS, but never could get into it fully...I was an old Falconeer...soon as A-10 was released, I jumped and havent run BS since. BS is a great helicopter sim, an absolute blast and very immersive. Now that I have track IR, I've thought about jumping back to BS to try it out on a helicopter. Should help considerably with landing/hovering being able to quickly look out to the the side for a reference view.

I dont see an update on in the HT window? Data Export fields show DCS A-10 with a blue a-10 icon, says enabled in green, and disabled as a button to the right.

What would cause some gauges not to work? All eng gauges work, and some flight instruments work, but some dont. Airspeed, AOA, HSI, Attitude indicator , HYD pressure dont work ? but flaps, fuel, work - any ideas?

well i got 25 of 29, and on my last gun pass, i tore my right wing off with a high-g climbing turn :(. Gotta go back and try again! :)

I did that first mission soooo many times, I could almost do it in my sleep. But I did learn how to do about 75-80% of "normal operations" that I do in every other mission. I'm hoping to go online at some point...still overwhelmed though.

Interesting to see that Wags mentioned in the official updates today that a new model E-2D hawkeye will be included in the 1.1.08 update for A-10C?? Hmm...carrier based AEW aircraft?? The conspiracy theories run wild... :lol:
