  1. yeah I'm too cheap to pay $69.99-79.99 for a 3rd party module. Too many broken promises and delays. If it is great etc... Can always change my mind, but I won't be hopping on the train anytime soon.
  2. well my wallet says O+ but my brain says I'll end up with the Rift S lol. So I think I'm leaning Rift S now. Also, I'm dumb re: VR. When you say for the O+, you have to use steam VR, do you mean I need to be running DCS through steam to use VR or just have a steam AP VR running? I have the stand alone DCS, NOT steam DCS.
  3. Full disclosure. I've never tried VR. Not even a friends or at a store etc... However, I am very interested in trying a set, but have some budget limits. I feel the Oddy+@$299 US or the Rift S at $399US are reasonable for my budget. I really have no great desire to play many VR titles, but I do want to try VR out in DCS as I think it would help with the immersion etc... Or talk me out of this fiasco before I begin. Computer should run it I think. 8086k@5ghz all core, 1080ti hybrid cooler @2,000mhz sustained via oc. 32gb ram at PC3200. Current monitor is a 27" 144hz 1440p setup. HOTAS is Logitech X56 stick/throttle. I may have to upgrade this as well, as I think something may be wrong with sensors in stick. Seems to always lose calibration and drift. No rudder pedals yet. Open to suggestions. Thoughts on the VR sets?
  4. Will try to make it in the server with you all some day. I'm having issues learning BFM in dogfighting etc.... Throw my stuff in a corner for months at a time b/c I get frustrated trying to learn and feel like another poster that AI is usually skewed towards super human abilities or in some other cases full retard.
  5. Nevermind. After another 20 attempts it took one. WTF
  6. it won't let me do a support ticket since I can't sign in :(. Unless I am doing something wrong
  7. I tried logging into DCS after taking a month or two off. Said my password wasn't right. Ok, maybe I forgot my password, even though it was saved in the login info. Tried to reset password via the reset link. Tried about 20 different passwords that are over 87 characters, have an upper case letter, and some numbers as well. Each time it refused to reset password saying "invalid check word". WTF
  8. yeah I have a "knock off" track ir. it works well. But I struggle with positioning myself and keeping track of enemy in dogfights. I continually lose track of the enemy and they are on my 6 like nothing. I guess I'm dense. I think I need to go back to some more basic aviation to learn the physics of how to position myself in relation to my enemy. It's overwhelming. Fun, but hard.
  9. Well update. This will be a slow painful journey lol. I can spot enemies now better. I have a "zoom" toggled onto that little "mouse/flipper" thing on my X56 hotas/throttle. With my thumb I can zoom in and release back to "normal" pretty quick. But yeah what they say about SA is super true. I have about 1% SA now lol, up from 0%. I can see where more experience will really help, knowing roughly where to look based on relevant info re: enemy position. Right now I may know they are 10 miles out at a certain heading, but I could be looking too far/ too close etc... based on low experience/SA. Anyway, thx for the tips everyone.
  10. also, make sure Xbox DVR didn't turn itself on. That will chug your computer down.
  11. If your cpu/ram are running at spec. Then I would say it's a driver issue or corrupt file. May try updating Nvidia graphic driver. Trying repair of DCS?
  12. I am new and got a friend into dcs as well. Is there a way to play co op.missions?
  13. Ps not trying to attack etc Have had motherboard bios do odd things
  14. Have you verified cpu and ram run correct? CpuZ etc. benchmark to confirm something didn’t go fubar with your setup? If computer is solid, then try repairing?
  15. Btw I have now resorted to playing missions I downloaded from a thread I dug up re problematic ai in one of the campaigns for the f15 I bought. These missions are quite helpful
  16. I have noticed certain zoom ranges to be better. How would I go about setting up zoom ranges as you describe? Right now fully zoomed I have a hard time comfort my vision/panning. I have a zoom button setup on hotas along with Un zoom. It’s gettt better but still quite a painful process
  17. So, taking some advice....... I practiced using zoom for several hours yesterday. Also, I have turned off labels for several days now as it created a bad habit for me in expecting them. I was able to spot some planes now at times. At other times, still painfully oblivious I am(Yoda voice). Even so, when spotting the enemy they move so damm fast in relation to me I have a hard time finding them again once I lose sight of them. Yeah SA is a big factor :(. I think as a newer pilot just running the plane and basic systems is taking so much of my time etc... Hopefully, that improves in time and also being able to more easily estimate distances, heading changes based of geography etc... will help. Right now it's all brand new. PS thx for the additional information/tips. Keep em coming.
  18. ok thanks guys. Got some direction with what to work on. Thx
  19. If I turn off labels or whatever in game setting highlights enemies, I simply cannot see them 90% of the time. Plus since I’m so new I can’t seem to employ my sensors right as either the f15 or su27 variations don’t see my enemies in radar etc. I can see the rwr And in the su27 the data link for enemy vector, but radar and my vision conspire to have me fail. What do I need to practice to get better? I have fc3,f86, Persian gulf, Nevada, and some campaign for su27/f15 I bought. Sorry I’m just overwhelmed right.now. I can fly about, and land etc but I seem to be clueless otherwise . Ai missions seem buggy but I do them. Multiplayer is pointless as I’m so bad.Sorry, on phone. Forgive mistakes
  20. As a new pilot I can tell you the full modules are way too overwhelming!!! I bought FC3 and appreciate being able to learn by osmosis a bit. Maybe you all are prodigies or I’m backwards, but I can hardly spot planes before I’m toast. Just flying and landing is a challenge to new players and flaming cliffs will attract more players due to the value and fun factor of being able to start a jet and fly without a 30 minute tutorial. That said, I don’t think FC3/4 needs 10 aircraft. 2 or 3 examples of certain generations would work. It would be nice to have a more simple version of gen three jets like mig 21 , F4 phantom, etc. maybe a ww2 simple plane too. Appeals to various interests. On phone so forgive spelling mistakes etc.
  21. Got the X56 last night. Flew on quick mission with F15C and compared to my X36 setup, even w/out all my binds etc... the flying was superior. Well not my flying lol, that still is pretty bad. But, my impression of the flying ;p. I need to ground myself from buying more modules. So far got FC3, Nevada map, 2 of the F15 campaigns one SU27 campaign, and last night bough the F86 and Persian Gulf Map :/. My internet is terrible. I have Satellite with caps(all I can get in rural Illinois/USA) and it took 12 hours to DL the F86/Persian gulf map. I need to find a way to DL this stuff at work and then transfer over to my home computer when I buy big DL items. That said, I am grounding myself from buying more modules until I can get some more stick time. I got so damm excited the other week watching Grim Reaper vids on Youtube and had such a hardon to get up to speed to play on similar servers or with them. I see now that's a LONG way off in all probability. Really liking the F15C though right now. Flying the Vegas tour through that course is pretty damm fun. Can't wait for my Ebay Track IR type setup to come. Setup the X56 more and I think I may not move more than 20ft this entire weekend Anyone have any good servers to recommend to practice on? I hit multiplayer tab once and most servers seemed locked down or unpopulated
  22. yeah I was sick of custom loops and tbh the boosts didn't seem to make much difference in the reviews I read anyway. My gpu is a so so oc'er. I hit sustained 2000-2050 with a mild oc stable. Yeah I might get 50-100 more, but wasn't worth the hassle and $ to me. I mainly bought the hybrid for the noise. It's so quiet now. Before the squirrel cage fan would ramp up when the gpu was loaded and temps would hit 70C(with custom fan curve) or higher with stock fan curve. I should dig out my old phase change cooler and get some sub 30C temps :).
  23. Not sure how much this will help you, but I had a few beers one night and ordered an EVGA hybrid cooler for my Founders Edition 1080ti. Temps now are AWESOME. Rarely over 55C loaded now. Now that said, GPU's will run mostly at 100% in many cases anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. What are your FPS in game? With a delid 8700k @4.8ghz and a 1080ti I saw fps in the 160's when I found the ingame fps counter. This was regular flying so it could be worse in dogfights, down low etc.... but tbh my performance has been good IMO. I'm not on VR though, but do run high settings at 2560x1440@144hz
