  1. In create a mission, how do I edit the threat aircraft so only WWII planes oppose my WWII plane?
  2. I would like to fly WWII aircraft. I have a P51D. When I create a mission, how do I edit the 'threat' aircraft so that I am only opposed by another WWII aircraft? The same question for Instant Mission. Thanks in advance.
  3. What you are all saying is you don't want people who can't or won't invest the time before "getting into the action." That is really sad. I see no reason why DCS can't have a "quick action" mode and an "Extreme High Fidelity" mode. Why does it have to be one or the other? Doesn't make economic sense, but that is what the developers have chosen.
  4. Arcade vs. sim vs. something in-between is irrelevant. Those categories have to do more with flight dynamics more than anything else. I'm referring to setting up a mission. There should be a way to easily set up a single player me against one or many mission where I choose the aircraft that I oppose. There were sims from years past, legit sims, where setting up the kind of instant battle required only a couple of mouse clicks. I don't understand why with planes of all eras, DCS doesn't make it simple for the single-player to set up an instant mission with era-specific aircraft. I don't really care how complex the flight dynamics will be. I just want getting into the action to be simplified for people who can't take the time to find and study the manual. That would help to grow the audience. Took me a whole year to find time to come back to this sim. I've forgotten stuff already.
  5. I was afraid you would answer that it isn't possible to do WW2 only Instant Mission. That is very disappointing. I do have Wings Over the Reich, which if very good, and IL2 Great Battles (Sturmovik, Bodenplatte, Kuban, and Moscow). I was hoping DCS WW2 would provide more opportunities with US WWII fighters. Thanks again.
  6. Okay. Thank you. I will. But I am begging this time.
  7. How To Questions I just discovered this WW2 sub-forum, so I thought I'd post my questions here. No one helps me in the main forums. First question: How do I set up Instant Mission/Instant Action so only WWII planes show up in opposition? I can't figure it out. Every time I start an modern jet like an A10 or something else shoots my WWII plane out of the sky with a missile. It's over in 20 seconds. I only want WWII planes on both sides. Second question: How do I get the WWII add-on mission modules to actually work? I bought a few of them but can't figure out how to get them to load. If this is helpful: I have all requisite WWII terrains and modules and planes. I bought them all. I have Normandy terrain loaded/installed. I just want to fly WWII single player. As you can tell, I don't play DCS World very often although i keep my version up to date. Thanks in advance.

  9. Fall will arrive in less than a week.
  10. Lots of wailing on this thread about MAC and how terrible it is that people want it and that it is being made. I've been waiting forever for MAC. I've stopped playing DCS because it takes too much time to master and I don't do multiplayer which the hardcore DCS players prefer. Most people polled on this site prefer SP because it is quicker and doesn't require the investment in time to become competitive online. MP with DCS is for a niche crowd. I gravitated to DCS when they produced WWII modules, but even that is frustrating. Because of time constraints, I wanted to utilize instant action. But instant action automatically pits your WWII fighter against modern jets which results in getting shot down immediately. Why can't DCS have WWII instant action with strictly WWII A.I. against you automatically? That should be easy, but it is not available. Anyway, I purchased all of the DCS terrains in anticipation of Modern Air Combat in 2018, but it didn't come out. Fingers crossed. I'm hoping it will arrive before the end of THIS year. It will be very late but very welcome. I will gladly purchase it as a standalone product even though it will mean I purchased all the DCS terrains for nothing.:noexpression:
  11. I don't think the dominance of SP pilots here is related to the "basic MP interface." I've never seen the MP interface. It is more about having the time to play and when you have the time to play. With SP you can boot up at odd hours, that is whenever you can find 20 minutes in your busy schedule. That doesn't lend itself to MP when all the MP fans are most likely to be online. Different time zones add another layer of complexity to making MP doable. The other reason, I believe, is related to the first. When you don't have much time to play, you can't improve skill level sufficiently to be competitive online with people who play for hours, including coop, so why bother? Finally, when your skill level is as low as mine, the A.I. in SP can be quite competitive and even fun. Hardcore MP types who play for hours and master the planes and systems may be the base, but they are outnumbered. You would think that given the outcome of the poll, DCS would put more effort into enhancing the SP mode to keep the number of players (and buyers) up. But I don't think they will. Many of us have been waiting for Modern Air Combat which was advertised over a year ago to be released by end of 2018. I think DCS has quit on the less hardcore market.
  12. Single Player all the way. MP has too many bugs and finding a server that functions well with nothing but truly casual (meaning: people who rarely have time to practice so they are always "beginners") players is near impossible. Makes no sense to join MP to be used for target practice by people who spend hours and hours playing this sim.
  13. Quick update: The videos suggested by Rudel were the most helpful. Unfortunately, setting up a mission is way too time consuming. I prefer instant action/instant mission due to time constraints, and I like WWII or Korean War era air combat. The problem with DCS is the inability to play instant mission with your WWII plane being opposed only by other WWII planes. I'm going to stick with IL-Sturmovik/Moscow/Kuban/Bodenplatte and Wings Over the Reich. I appreciate everyone trying to help me. I'll get my occasional contemporary jet combat fix and come back to DCS if and when they come out with Modern Air Combat which is a year overdue. For now, I can't spend any more money on DCS modules and terrains.
  14. Thank you, everyone, especially ChuckIV, KTFBGB, and Rudel_Chw. DCS is definitely not newb friendly or friendly to people who only have 60-90 minutes a month, about 20 minutes per weekend, to spend with this sim. I've purchased all of the DCS terrains and several modules but don't have much time due to work, family, and other hobbies.
