Hello, First thanks in advance to anyone who answers. So I’m new to flight sims and am learning the f18. When I’m up in the air I’m having to trim the aircraft constantly. Like all the time. When I do make adjustments via the Hat on the tm warthog stick, it’s taking over a minute to get it level with no input. If I make a maneuver or change directions I’m having to do this again? Hand off the stick it will without command Roll left or right. I’ve already checked calibrations and dead zone. I am resetting fcs with flaps in auto and pushing t/o trim on the ground. Stabs to 12 on fcs Page. Is this normal and pilots spend every second literally making trim adjustments? Do they just use the stick to offset constantly? Help. Thank you.

Same issue. Today. Multiple flights. But I’m a new pilot. Please help. Severe un commanded roll sometime left, sometime right. Depends on which direction I’m facing which is weird. Can trim it out but then I make a maneuver and it’s borked again. Dead zone 4 on tm warthog.

F-18C AMPCD not exporting after latest update

Thank you. I got it working now I need to figure out why it looks like crap. -
Awesome made. Thank you for your reply. I fly jets so your insights are greatly appreciated. VT is supposed to be here in the next two weeks. Thank you.

Thank you Karon. Nice Rig!

Karon, Thanks for the vid. How does the 5 way switch work in DCS? Can it be used to allow for multi function on the same button. Example in mode1 the yellow emergency is eject but in Mode2 it’s fcs reset? Second question, how do you deal with finger lifts AB thing. On the warthog I turn AB always off and use the lifts for AB and tune the curve so mil power is at the AB stop. On the WH I mapped idle to the idle stop and it works great. Does the idle stop act as a button like on the WH? If not I guess you could just bind a button to off/idle? I also want to build a button box. PM if you would like to set me down the right path.

F-18C AMPCD not exporting after latest update

Will somebody post their monitor lua please. I only need the format not the x/y. Any changes to shader as wire or is that fixed now? Any changes to the init luas? I’m using simav right now but it looked like crap. Changed the line/fuzzy to .4/.2 looks ok but still fuzzy. Thanks. -
Monitor LUA (yet another)
drmorrish replied to drmorrish's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I’m going to back up my save game, bindings and Default LUA’s and try again. If I fail again I’ll post it. Monitor config and individual lua’s for each unit have to be modded, correct? -
Monitor LUA (yet another)
drmorrish replied to drmorrish's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
hansang, epic crash and burn. Followed your tutorial and jammed the game up. Had to delete the saved game config file and delete the monitor LUA to recover. It really didn't like the dis similar resolutions. Seems as though combined resolution which for me is 3440x2520 was trying to be split across the screens evenly which obviously wont work. I has a dream of exported DDI's and ampcd, and that dream is dead. -
I wish ED made this a little easier. I need to make sure the guiding principles are right. I have two monitors. 1) 34 inch 3440x1440 1) 21.5 inch 1920x1080 Over/under 3440x1440 sitting over the 1920x1080. They are arranged in windows monitor setup in this fashion with the smaller lower monitor biased to the left and aligning with the over head 3440x1440 along the left edge in windows monitor setup. IRL it's centered directly below the upper monitor. Total resolution for the monitor config LUA should be 3440x2520 Correct? I'm exporting 2 DDI's from hornet f18 and the ampcd with an xk60 between them. The ampcd will be centered below the XK keyboard. I'm planning to also export the IFEI to the lower unused left lower side of the smaller monitor and the Standby Attitude Indicator and RWR to the right lower side. Start values will run horizontally from the left 0-3440/Vertical will run 0-2520 with zero in the upper left of the upper monitor. Lower monitors starting Y will be 1441 and will continue down through 2520? Is this correct? Also in the options menu there is no monitor option for two monitors. Which option should I be picking. I've read the guides and watched the youtube videos, I'm just obviously missing something. Thank you in advance.

How does the 5 way work for slewing in A10C. I was thinking about canceling my virpil throttle over the lack of slew. I am surprised it doesnt have one. If someone made a thottle of good construction with lots of switches and buttons that had a mouse/slew, that would be a winner. I'm actually shocked this doesn't exist. I'm not the biggest fan of the WT. Too specific to one airplane. Switches and mostly useless and there are no rotary encoders. Because it's the only one that relatively well made, we all have it.

I used a program called framexpert which you download. You build in 3D in a cad like program and I it tally’s The cost as you go. I think it’s 2015 pricing but that’s bad for us not good. It was so close to MT that for me it wasn’t worth it. I am however looking for a Vesa Mount for the second smaller monitor that will enable tilt and mount as shown in the beginning of the post. It must lock in position because physical controls will be mounted to it. If you stumble across something in your travels please DM me. If you google framexpert you will find the software I’m talking about. If you want accurate pricing build it in xpert pront the materials manifest and go to work at 80/20.net. I believe prices have gone up from 2015. Also know that there are different grades of a given channel type. 40 series for example has a lightweight and standard profile. Make sure your making an apples to apples comparison.

I tried this. If you succeed let me know. It was more expensive for me To build it. See above posts.

Unveiling the VKB TECS Throttle Control System
drmorrish replied to UIV's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
Bueller.......Bueller...... As a new guy to flight simming I am genuinely perplexed at the utter and complete lack of a good throttle. It seems like even the venerable Warthog throttle has lots of problems. To the point where people make money selling modifications for it to fix basic functionality issue. Slew/mini stick im looking at you. Aftermarket detents for afterburners yes please. CUB boxes for more switches to map, sure. I feel like there's a massive hole on the supply side. Even the new highly anticipated virpil T50 throttle which looks fantastic and is well made falls short with no slew/mini stick promising the next model will have it. Companies "announcing" new products that aren't out a year later. Dropping 7K on equipment and software and I can't find an acceptable throttle to buy? Whats happening? Thrustmaster is clearly asleep at the wheel. Their newest release a $500.00 pair of pedals. Nice and all, but how about a throttle with radar control axis modeled after any modern radar bird and something with a Gimbal not made of plastic. The Russians are even worse with high end gimbals never in stock and grips modeled after non study Russian aircraft. I guess the answer for the high end customer is wait for months for a virpil stick base, wait for an f18 grip from TM with an unknown release date or use a WH Grip, and settle for a throttle modeled after an aircraft released eight years ago with inferior button/switch/slew layout for new modules. Really frustrating. END RANT Thank you to all the people who have been helping wade through this all. Like drinking from a firehose. -
I tried it like you suggested. You’re right. I can’t get used to pushing toward 11:00 o clock and I think this will lead to problems. Looks like I’m getting a Virpil stick. Anybody ever used this? https://www.shapeways.com/product/Y54HL4E6G/thrustmaster-tailpiece-13-deg-ang-15-deg-off-to-the-ri?optionId=63458489

Just ordered this throttle. Can a current owner tell me how the mode switch works? Does DCS see each mode and so each switch/encoder/rotary can have a separate mapping? Or do you have to use virpil software (their version of TM Target) to assign different modes? I asked virpil, they responded that each mode can be unique mappings but that windows would not allow enough buttons for all buttons in all 5 modes to be mapped. How are people slewing with this. Im using a TMW stick but no slew access there either. Virpil Stick, which I think has a slew is backordered. This product looks amazing and is supposed to be very well built. It's expensive though, and I'm perplexed about how a slew/ministick could have possibly been overlooked. Thanks!

Excellent reply Ranma. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer all my questions point for point and for giving me links. I think I have a much clearer picture after your response and I think ill be in seat a lot quicker because of it. Seriously, thanks. One last question about the MT base for the TMW Grip; it looks like the MT base is slotted to allow the entire assembly to rotate on the MT plate which would let the axis be lined up with the angle. So for reference the yellow arrow would be turned offset from the six o clock position more to the 4:30 or 5:00 position so that the wrist is straight. This angle will of course vary depending on my body type but it seems like pushing forward from the say 5:00 position for instance would mean pushing directly against one set of springs and would be consistent with pushing straight forward in a traditional way. I hope i'm making sense. As I rotate the entire TMW grip anti clockwise and tighten against the slotted channels on the MT base will this effectively change the gimbal angle? For reference i'm thinking I would be pushing from the direction of 5:00 o clock and a nose dive would be the stick to the 11:00 o clock position. Thanks again. If this is not correct please let me know or if there is a product that will allow me to rotate the stick and not the base and you think that's better, let me know what I should be looking for. Is there a Karma or upvote system for users?

The center stock low with a long cyclic would be easy to do with this rig. Two problems. The seat needs a crotch notch to clear the extension and I’ve yet to find someone who makes a crooked extension with the correct geometry. This rig allows the tm warthog to be turned to any angle so your wrist is in line. This makes flying. MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE. As a recovering Elite Dangerous player I can’t say how important this is whether side or center stick. So with the base offset to say 15-18 degrees, you would need a long extension with a crook or set back and a modified seat to clear the hook.

215.00 Euros/$250.34 in dollars for shipping to the Midwest US.
-
It's is adjustable on almost every point. Ive done a crap load of research. It seems like the best rig out there you can buy. I was going to build my own in a similar way. Their rig is actually cheaper. Their customer service is amazing so far. Shipping from Germany to US......not so awesome.
-
Thank you Ranma. I just ordered from MT. The full setup. $915.00 Euros with shipping  I have a few questions: Should I order the additional extrusions from MT? Email them for example, or should I just use framexpert and render/order it from a local supplier? To save time do you happen to know the EXACT length of extrusion to order and which fasteners? I have never worked with 8020 extruded aluminium. Second I appreciate the links. What length M8 and what hardware for attaching to the rail do I need? I hate to be a a noob but do you have a specific link to a product you would recommend. The closest thing I could see on that last link has one that I think will work (depending on the M8 thing) but it looks like if I mount horizontal on the extrusion it will articulate left right instead of up/down. The only other thing I could find was one from ricomtech that is exactly for aluminium extrusion but doesn't articulate at all. Next I ordered a sparco R100 as per MT's recommendation from their prototype build video. Does the order include all the hardware to attach the slider and seat mount aluminium? How do you like the product over all? I'm shocked because the cost to build it myself using xpert and buying locally exceeded to base on MT. Shipping was crazy but, hard to tell what that would have been in another procurement local, foreign etc. What is the normal MT lead time right now, if you know. I didn't see anything on the site and wasn't notified at checkout. I don't presume you will know that, butwas wondering how long it took to get yours. Thank you! We dropped some serious coin today. Computer, pit, hotas, track IR monitors, cougar MFD's, xk 60and want to make sure everything is right. I REALLY apprecite your reply. OP if you see this please chime in. Thanks again.
-
NICE!!! How has nobody responded to this! Great looking PIT. I'm going to do the exact same thing. I was already checking out MT and you've sold me. I have to ask some questions. Did you buy their monitor stand or make your own? How did you mount up your helios screen with the correct angle and what size screen is that for your helios monitor. Can you bring the monitor stand any closer or is the center stick stopping you from getting closer. Finally what are the base dimensions for the SIM rig? Great post.

Sorry a little necro but I am getting an xk60 for an UFC for f18. Did you ever get the top keys working?
-
Man nice rig guppy. I’m just trying to figure out how to mount three mfd’s, an xkeys xk60 and two button boxes to an obutto r3volution. I don’t think I could fab something like you did. I’m starting to realize why people make their own rig. Nobody makes exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks for sharing.
