  1. I know this is a Very old post. But I agree totally with the OP. The meatball view is next to useless in VR using Oculus. Even with VR zoom it’s very hard to see. Even using a monitor the meatball is difficult to see at a glance. So a pop up window of the IFOLS would be great. Make it user selectable for those that think it’s a cheat. Your thoughts on this gents? Or is there a VR IFOLS mod maybe?
  2. After around 40 traps without this training mission, I thought I was getting in the groove. God I'm crap at it! And the numbers are good for this training mission. Ive just listened to a recording on Fighter Pilot Podcast by "Jello" and "Fava" about CAT I landings and they match. (Everyone needs to sign up to Fighter Pilot Podcast..... It's free and produced by Fighter Pilots. Jello, Ex F/A-18 & F-16) I've done 40 traps that were done wrong... Now I need to unlearn bad habits. Excellent training tool Bankler
  3. Thanks, that should make it easier [emoji106]
  4. Can you point me in the direction of these templates?
  5. I left the SA2 site with the units in pic 1 & 2. Is the P-19 included by default? Either way the SA2's fired on me. Easily spoofed by notching though. No jammer or chaff needed.
  6. Thanks Vampyre. I got the SA2 firing at least. By changing the group to 1/3, 2/3, 3/3. I also added "Engage air weapons" in the advanced waypoints menu for the SA2. Is that necessary? No success with the SA6 yet........Time for bed ZZzz
  7. I'm trying to setup an SA2 & SA6 enemy units to engage me while flying the F/A-18 to practice HARM's. I come from a Falcon BMS background and I'm used to clicking on an SA2 unit and placing it on the map. Everything is in that unit to now attack. DCS editor is different I'm new to DCS mission editor. The SA2 wont emit or engage with missiles. I know the SA2 system uses Fangsong and separate SA2 launches. Ive made them same group. What am I missing?? The SA6 will emit and I can destroy it with a HARM. BUT it will not fire on me even if I don't destroy it. Again..... What unit or what step am I missing? Is There a go to page where I can find out what systems are required to get any unit operational? :book:
  8. https://www.raf.mod.uk/display-teams/red-arrows/news/new-channel-5-documentary-series-follows-red-arrows-over-12-months/ Six, One hour long programs following the Red’s from end of 2017 through the 2028 season. 100 years of the RAF [emoji636] Also for those that have access to UK channel 5 by whatever means. Impressed with the 1st episode as it showed mistakes. (A Red faced one [emoji3062]) Like we all do in our earth bound lives. “The six-part series features the Red Arrows during the Royal Air Force’s centenary year. As well as exceptional access to what happens in the air, the programmes also showcase the work of the team’s ground crews, engineers and support personnel. The series, called The Red Arrows: Kings of the Sky, begins as a new team leader starts work in the autumn of 2017 – revealing how he designed and developed ambitious, fresh manoeuvres for the high-profile 2018 season – a process that has never before been filmed for television. The six, 60-minute episodes have been produced by Shiver, a multi-award-winning ITV Studios label. Its film crew were given unprecedented access to the Red Arrows, following the team across the UK and beyond. Guy Davies, Commissioning Editor (Factual) at Channel 5, said: “We are incredibly proud to deliver the most in-depth documentary on the Red Arrows in a generation. “We’ll get to know the cast of characters and put Channel 5 viewers right at the heart of the action, giving them a taste of what it’s like to be in the cockpit of a jet flying complex aerobatics at 600mph, within just six feet of its neighbour’s wing tips.” Mike Blair, Exec Producer at Shiver, said: "This is a series that not only showcases some of the most jaw-dropping flying and aerobatics, it also gets up close and personal to an amazing group of people, the pilots and engineers who make up the Red Arrows.
  9. Thanks for clearing that up. [emoji106]
  10. Screen shots in profile view with VR? Yeah, I use the recenter while flying. But my view in VR is Perfect. But if I take a screenshot it always comes out in a profile view. As per the photos. If you take a screenshot are they in landscape or profile? Not that it matters a great deal as my VR view is OK. Just annoying that my screenshots at in profile. Even though I’m not sharing them it’s annoying somethings wrong.
  11. No answers after 80 views. So as I'm new to VR is this the view you lot see?
  12. Yeah I know about power and AoA. But God it's difficult to keep it there. That's my problem! But thanks anyway. I DO appreciate it.
  13. After 20 years of simming. I find I can land the 18 better in the dark than I can in daylight. But I did loads of night/bad weather flights in Falcon BMS and Microsoft flight sim. Still. I'm only catching a dangerous 1 wire or it's a bolter. I'ts constant power on power off adjustments. I know thats true in real life but not to extent I'm doing it. Deff pilot induced. But God the 18 is fussy! It might be due to the curve I had to introduce to to my X65F to get the burners to come in at the throttle detent. Now I just know I'm one of the very few with an X65F so I can expect zero help regarding the 65F. ;)
  14. As you can see both images are in profile. 1st an in game screen shot of me about to capture a one wire. If I was any shorter I''d be dead  The 2nd is a photo from my phone showing the actual real world view of the VR hanger. What settings are wrong here?
  15. Plobue, Added commands still working for me using the latest beta
  16. Hollywood thanks for the quick reply. I’d forgotten to enable plug-ins. It now works a treat. License for Viacom bought. [emoji106]
  17. Need help here. Ive installed voice attack and thats working can get it to do basic commands I created as a test while in the jet. When I click on import profile......In my case it's located on the E drive... Program files(x86)>VoiceAttack>Apps>VAICCOMPRO The only file I see is documentation. If I open that I see no files available to import. And Yes. Ive copied the VAICOM file to the voice attack apps folder. I'll gladly part with my £'s once I get it working. I noticed in the installation vid. When you opened voice attack the default screen had Pluginn support enabled and other blue dot notifications below it. My voice attack main screen is blank. Only when I speak does it display something on the screen. Any ideas?
  18. In the setup video I watched it said ignore monitor setting. (All things VR) But the DDI’s were unreadable so I switched it to single monitor and voila. I’ll give your numbers a go end of the week.
  19. Make sure you are not using your old multi monitor file in the screen/monitor box. I had that exact same problem. I switched to single monitor and now the ddi’s and monitor are readable. Could do with sharpening a little but ok.
  20. Yeah I used this to great effect when exporting MFD's to a 2nd monitor. X:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Cockpit\Scripts\Multipurpose_Display_Group\Common\indicator\MDG_strokesDefs.lua Before: stroke_thickness = 0.8 stroke_fuzziness = 0.5 After: stroke_thickness = 0.4 stroke_fuzziness = 0.2 The before lines work best for me in VR. But I will try and adjust as the MFD's are not crisp in VR F-18
  21. Yeah I used this to great effect when exporting MFD's to a 2nd monitor. X:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Cockpit\Scripts\Multipurpose_Display_Group\Common\indicator\MDG_strokesDefs.lua Before: stroke_thickness = 0.8 stroke_fuzziness = 0.5 After: stroke_thickness = 0.4 stroke_fuzziness = 0.2 Not yet tried in VR. But it worked for me in 2 screen exported mode.
  22. I'm a newb to VR. Yesterday in fact. I'd just like to share my 1st impressions regarding the feeling of motion. I'm not a pilot but have spent 100's of hours in one as a parachute instructor. I also have the use of a boat when on holidays. 1st the boat. When I'm on water you feel the rise n fall of the waves as well as roll of the boat. After a few hrs or so when I get back to dry land I feel as if I'm still at sea. The world is still moving even though I'm on dry land. That is exactly the same feeling when I take the VR off. It lasts for around 10 mins in both cases. As an ex parachute instructor I had to dispatch students. 1 out per pass of the airfield. Normally a pilot will turn left for each and every pass. The brain gets used to left turns. Once all the jumpers are gone I either stay or jump depending how busy it is. If I stay the pilot pulls a bit of G and stays in left hand turns..... It's his seat... Better view. (occasionally if he's being mischievous he'll push the nose forward) I'm not strapped in. And for a few precious seconds I float off the floor and become weightless. When we land and I walk out of the aircraft..... The world is still going left for a while. To that end I'd say the rift is doing a good job regarding the feeling of motion.
  23. Is VoiceAttack free? If not Ive paid for VAC years ago. But need to make a profile. I didnt even know Rift had a mic. Do I need to teach it within windows if so how? It's weird working in VR on the desk top. I prefer normal view. Flying in VR reminds me of being on a boat. If I spend hr's on a boat, when I get home the house is still moving in time with the waves. It takes around 10 mins before all is normal. VR is the same. The VR world moves when flying. When I go back to monitor the sensation of not being on land continues for 10 mins or so. For that I'd say VR is doing a pretty good job of recreating the real world!
  24. Can you explain the in game knee board function? Keys etc. Can I import my own Checklists? If do where do I place them and in what format/
