  1. Keep in mind that the 4850x2 does not enable all 4 heads if Crossfire is enabled.... only 2 work... Same limitation as using individual 4800's and Crossfire..( only 2 of 4 heads work ) But i'm using a 1gb Sapphire 4850 (single ) and I get great frame rates with everything high... so i'm not sure you need Crossfire....so no reason you couldn't use 2 4850's or a 4850x2 with Crossfire disabled and just use them as 2 individual cards and therefore, get all 4 output heads....
  2. I'm very interested in the open cockpits stuff.... does anyone know of a good english document on how to interface it all together? I've checked the site and seen alot of "english" documentation.. , and I mean no disrespect at all to those of you that english is a second language.. I can't speak any other languages, so you have my respect. It's just that translating a very technical document into english sometimes makes it very very difficult to understand how things actually work, simply because of grammer and syntax. Maybe the best thing to do is to just buy a master and usb card.. a few switches and just start playing around. I would like a little more explanation on how the autohotkey script can interface with the sioc script and how the sioc script sees the changes from the master card switches...
  3. So, since you can't get any data from the sim, I noticed on your weapons master panel that you would have no way of getting rounds of ammo current or left for the LED display.. unless you assumed that you had 12 missiles for example then used a script to decrement the number based on your trigger presses and ammo feed settings... and hoped that everything meshed with what the sim says you have...
  4. do you have the 3rd party cockpit hardware tools? or are you using an epic controller of some sort? I guess i'm wondering how you are getting the keyboard signals to the game?
  5. The saitek products must have changed drastically in last few years... a few years ago I went through 3 ( yeah.. 3 ) sets of the x52 ( or whatever the model was before the lcd panel on the throttle..) After a month or so, the stick would not be stable in the X or Y axis.. a slow and steady pull in any axis direction would result in massive spikes on random sides of that axis... totally uncontrollable. I kept returning it and getting new ones. But it kept happening.. so it went in the trash. I'm happy with the Cougar...
  6. Cougar ( unmodded ) hotas.. thrustmaster rudders, trackIR4
  7. Actually, XP pro will use as many cores as you have... i'm typing this on an xp pro machine with a dual-core proc and I see both of them in task manager... I'm using Vista 32 in the E8400 system mentioned above... I tried Vista 64 and it ran fine.. but some of the add-ons and other software didn't like the 64 aspect, so I reverted back to 32... no problems... but can't use more than 4GB of ram... such is life...
  8. I just built an E8400 ( overclocked to 3.6 Ghz ) with 4GB ram ( 1066 mhz ) and a sapphire ATI 4850 1gb video card. BS runs on high everything at the max resolution of my monitor with totally smooth framerates. FSX also runs at max settings with Active Sky and Flight Sim Commander running on the 2nd monitor. only slight jerkiness when near a huge city. Most of the reviews and compairson charts i've read on dual-core vs quad while researching my new machine say go with dual-core.. the faster FSB and overclocking ability ( as well as the massive price diff e8400 on new egg for $164 ) are well worth it. Plus most p45 motherboards can handle a quad, so you are future proofed ( unless your future includes an intel i7 ).....
