Thank you EtherealN. Actually the P-51D was sent as a gift (Steam has a gift option on their site) so the inability to get a product code is more frustrating than if it was just for me. Instead of my friend having fun with DCS World, I've given him a bunch of aggravation especially since he's dealing with 2 entities, Steam and ED. We all know how complicated that can be... passing the buck (or ruble) around etc. It's now been well over a week and just like in Russia, we in the US and the UK celebrate the Christmas holiday too. And now New Years- 5 days post and still counting. It shouldn't make the consumer world stop revolving for all this time! Anyway, thank you for stepping up for ED (maybe they're tending to their hangovers or whatever) and trying to help. Bob. PS. I see (top of page) they haven't found time to take their Christmas lights down either!

Hello ED, Would you please send another batch of product codes to Steam. I'm unable to fly the P-51D that I already paid for because they are out of product codes. Thank you, Bob. PS. I tried using your Contact section but couldn't get through to you.

Hi 159th_Viper, Oh, okay. Thanks for the information. I'm sure it'll work. Take care, Bob.

DCS 1.2.6.18651 Update 1 Hi, When I first flew DCS World today I was informed via the auto-updater that there was an update available. I didn't want to update just then because I don't like flying and fighting while downloading so thought I'd update after I was done simming. And that's what I tried to do. It tells me to update via the auto-updater and/or the module downloader but I can't find it. I've searched everywhere especially in the module downloader and can find the modules for sale but can't find the DCS 1.2.6.18651 Update 1 or the auto-updater anywhere. How or where do I download the DCS 1.2.6.18651 Update 1 - Change Log from? I've read through all 12 pages of this thread, searched all of the DCS World website and in the DCS World simulator itself and can't find the update. I even used the "Search" function at the top of this page!! Now who ever does that!? Anyway, can someone please tell me where to download it from? Either here at Eagle Dynamics or within the DCS World combat flight simulator? I've just spent the better part of 2 hours (that I'll never get back!) trying to update and I'm still lost! I don't know why others haven't had this problem. Hmmm??? Geez, what's a combat flight simmer supposed to do? :) Thanks all, Bob.

Thanks Everyone, Spam the trim eh? Okay. I do notice the difference between BS1 and BS2. Does the Ka-50 really jump that violently in real life when they press the trim command? I'm surprised not a lot of them have crashed?? I think I have it figured out, under control now. The Ctrl + Enter key function is great. It lets ya know just where every axis is at. I see how it keeps the axis "clicked" in place. I thought that after hitting the trim command that the BS should level out and the joystick would go back to center. But that's not the case. It keeps it locked into whatever position you have the stick positioned at, at the time. In the forward position, usually about 1/3 the way forward during cruising speed at around 200 knots. It is knots, isn't it!? The Ctrl + Enter key explains a lot. I'm now able to, though it takes some effort, to keep the BS in level flight with my hands off the stick. It's really fun now. I'm learning. I have a training mission downloaded and installed to teach me the weapon systems. In BS1, though I flew it over 100 or more hours, I never got them down to automatic memory like I do in the Su-25T. It takes a lot of practice and seat time. Pretty soon I'll be ready for prime time, Multiplayer. Watch out, watch your 6! I'm going to watch those video links now Lizzard. Thanks again everyone, Bob.

Yeah Lizzard, I wrote things wrong. Like you say, it pitches up rapidly. And I need to push forward on the stick to keep it down or level. After I write this I'll check out the Ctrl + Enter key commands and see what my stick is doing. Thanks for that info. When I hit the trim command I know it's working because the BS lunges a bit until I can bring it under better control. It's strange how the trim function works. I remember back to BS1 when I could hit the trim command and it would lunge a bit but the BS' attitude would stay mostly that way. Now it just kinda lunges and goes back to where it was pre the trim command. No matter how much I aim the BS down and hit the trim command (T key) it comes back to where it was and I need to constantly keep my stick pushed forward. If I let go of the stick the BS takes off upward and then out of control. It's kinda violent. I must be doing something wrong because like I said, BS1 was working like I think it should. Thanks all for your input. I appreciate it. I'll work on it and let you all know what I find out. Any and all suggestions are still welcome! Bob. ETA - Oh, should I be able to trim it such that I can let go of the stick, at least for awhile, without the BS going out of control?

Hi, I recently bought a TM HOTAS Warthog and updated from Black Shark to the Black Shark2 module. I remember a couple weeks back, before I edited the Ka-50 lua file, that I could just increase the collective using the + and - number keys on my keyboard and the BS2 would lift off vertically and straight and stay that way. And I could apply the rudder and it would turn in either direction according to my input. It was great! Of course there was no wind in the mission. Now if I do that the BS2 always pitches forward. I use the Trim command (the T key) and the Reset Trim command and I can't get the BS2 to just hover or to lift vertically straight. Even with Auto Hover. I also tried using the Heading Hold and Bank Hold autopilots when I'm flying forward and they're no help either. When I fly the Su-25T I can hit any of the autopilot commands and the aircraft flies according to them. And without the autopilots I can trim it and it stays trimmed according to the forward flight speeds. Anyone who has a HOTAS Warthog knows how much hurt is put on your right hand always having to pull back on the heavy stick. Is there a way to trim or set an autopilot on the BS2 so I don't always have to be pulling back on the stick? I don't have carpal tunnel yet but after 10 or so minutes of flying the BS2 my fingers have been going numb on me! And I look kinda silly flying it with my left hand! Thanks, Bob.

WTH happened to the load times?
bob charles replied to ScottishMartialArts's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I just upgraded my computer thoroughly and it's fairly fast and clean... I don't install any unnecessary junk. I'm careful about it. I do have a 128GB SSD which is great... best upgrade you can do for the money. It's a very perceptible upgrade but I don't think it's the answer to the problems some here are having with load times. Though a good defrag of any HDD never hurt! I only use my SSD for mandatory programs and applications, everything else I store on a HDD. Though I have fast memory I only have 4GBs of it and like I wrote earlier, my mission load times are no more than 20-30 seconds. And there was no difference in load times after I updated to DCS World 1.2.6. Maybe you guys could try eliminating unnecessary startup items. You know, type in "msconfig" and start unticking startup items. Especially you guys who have Steam stuff installed. It may be conflicting with the ED installation of DCS World. I'm just grasping at straws but something is definitely wrong and when the problem is found we'll all slap ourselves on the forehead and say "of course, I should have thought of that sooner". At least I hope that's what happens. Good luck, Bob. ETA - I forgot, when I recently upgraded my computer I went with 8GBs of memory. I used to have 4. -
WTH happened to the load times?
bob charles replied to ScottishMartialArts's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I haven't timed my load times but they're no more than 20-30 seconds. The only extra module I have installed is BS2. I've mainly been flying the Su-25T in the DCS WORLD FREEFLIGHT_1.2.5.miz mission that I downloaded here. Also a mission pack that I downloaded from Steam called HoggitTNTpack-2.62. I haven't a clue as to the excessive load times some are experiencing. I hope you guys get it figured out. Bob. -
I hope ED's marketing strategy got them a lot of new recruits via Steam. I want them to succeed in business. They make a good product, one that gives me much satisfaction. Bob.

I've been a fan of Eagle Dynamics and Lock On from way back in the Ubi Soft days. Then upgraded to Flaming Cliffs etc. It's kinda fortunate for me in that the Su-25T became my favorite aircraft to fly and fight since it was the one aircraft that ED/DCS chose to include for free in the DCS World environment. I bought Black Shark a couple years ago and was going to upgrade to Black Shark2 so I could fly it in DCS World. I was going to buy BS2 and not the upgrade because for only 10 bucks I thought I'd save myself the hassle of upgrading. I was just getting myself in the mood to make the purchase from ED/DCS when I saw, in this thread, that I could buy BS2 from Steam for only $11.99. I "hated" to do it because I appreciate the work ED does but at that price I couldn't resist. So I bought it (actually just the license that I learned how to do from this thread) from Steam. I got the license key code there but downloaded BS2 from here since I don't understand, nor do I want to understand, or join Steam. I didn't need to download BS2 or the Steam version of the huge DCS World file at all from Steam. Just the basic 1.9GB Steam environment (so I could get the license key code) that I'm going to delete soon. Thank goodness. I don't like gunking up my SSD with unnecessary stuff... clean, lean and mean is my motto. How in the world can Steam sell ED/DCS World stuff so cheaply? Isn't ED/DCS World losing a whole lot of money? Why does ED/DCS allow it? I was gonna pay $39.99 for BS2 but I'm not gonna throw good money away if I don't have to and if ED/DCS wants to do business in this way... well, it's their business. Instead of the guys and perhaps gals at ED/DCS getting almost 40 bucks from me they're getting a pittance from Steam. I don't understand it... doesn't seem fair but I don't make the rules... I just abide by them. Sorry for your loss Eagle Dynamics. Bob.

Hi SkateZilla, I opened the mission (downloaded from here- DCS WORLD_FREEFLIGHT_1.2.5.miz) to edit it and there isn't a FW-190 aircraft in it to remove, then re-add. Am I not understanding your instructions?? Any other ideas? Thanks, Bob.
-
Thank you SkateZilla. I just finished editing a Su-25T lua profile for my HOTAS Warthog and took it for a spin. Works great but I'm flight-simmed and computered out! I'll get to editing the mission, removing the FW-190 then re-adding it later. Thanks again. Take care, Bob.

Update problem Hi All, After the 1.2.6.17746 update I now get a warning window that states: "Warning!" Need modules for load mission: FW-190D9 by Eagle Dynamics" Is there any way to get rid of this warning message? And a suggestion. It would be nice if you could tell us in advance the size of the update file. I think the 1.2.6 update was approx. 2GBs and it downloaded at approx. 260KBPS... so it took several hours to complete. It really messed up my day! I appreciate the updates but it would be nice to get a 'heads up' on the file size. Thanks a lot Eagle Dynamics, Bob.

Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog Serial# Database
bob charles replied to 159th_Viper's topic in Thrustmaster
#19490 Location = Ocala, Florida, USA I still have my old Thrustmaster F-16 joystick. And my less old HOTAS Cougar with Cub Pilot's Hall Effect Sensors and Ian's Uber NXT gimbal mod. Something screwed up inside the Cougar housing so I wasn't able to get the Uber NXT to stay in place. It wasn't the fault of Ian's great Uber NXT mod. But I did find it very difficult to replace those high-tensioned springs... oh, my poor fingers! I have nothing but high regards for both Cub Pilot and Ian. It's enthusiasts like these guys that showed Thrustmaster the way and the light to R&D and QC! I just hope, for the sake of my mental stability and my wallet, that the Warthog is built better than the Cougar so maintenance and upgrading won't be such an issue. I guess only time will tell. For the past several years I've been making due with Saitek's X-52 Pro. And as much as I prefer Thrustmaster's hardware over Saitek's, their software is still mind-boggling to me. I'm still searching for a picture or a map that tells me the name of every button and axis on the Warthog so I can edit other people's Su-25T and Black Shark lua files. I'd rather edit a lua file than try to figure out the TARGET GUI. Is there a college or university anywhere in the world that specializes in Thrustmaster software programming? :) Thanks so very much to Tiogar and the others here who have helped me enjoy DCS World and now my latest toy, the HOTAS Warthog. Bob. ETA - I used the Windows 7 USB Gaming Controller option to find the button numbers for the HOTAS Warthog. Why didn't Thrustmaster include a chart or a picture of the Warthog, both joystick & throttle, with the button numbers on it? Unless I'm missing something, there should be such a chart or picture in the PDF owner's manual or at their website. Or in the TARGET GUI. WTF! Ah, the good ol' days when games, simulators and computer hardware came with comprehensive hard copy owner manuals. And Quick Glance charts. The tiny booklet that comes in the Warthog box and is printed in 8 or 9 different languages, that can only be viewed via a magnifying glass, is not what I consider an owner's manual. Now, if they're available, they cost an extra $75 to a third party publisher! -
Hi, I'm surprised no one else has "complained" about the sticky nature of the X-52 Pro's joystick. Where the spring-loaded beveled piece comes in contact with the plastic base it tends to stick, making flight a bit jumpy. I've tried a little a Pam cooking oil on it but that only lasts a few minutes. Sometimes you need very fine control... like when you're landing... and the stick grabs and jerks. Maybe I'm just picky since I also have a modded Cougar and it's so smooth. I need to get my Cougar fixed but in the meanwhile I'll be using the X-52. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to make the X-52 operate more smoothly? Perhaps I just have a faulty one... or one with an extra strong spring in it. Bob.

Hi, Thanks Ulrich and Scif for replying. I figured it out but I'm not very pleased. I had my resolution set to 1920x1200 in the Black Shark Option Panel and while in MultiPlayer mode it makes the screen way too big. I was only seeing the center portion of the different screens so couldn't access anything except the drop-down menu for LAN, History and Internet. And that looked strange... not centered etc. When I set my resolution to 1024x768 (aspect ratio = 16x10) everything is fine. I even joined a MP mission to test it out. Funny thing there though... the throttle on my X-52 Pro wouldn't work. Is this a known bug? I'm gonna try the Page Up and Down keyboard keys and see if that works until I can figure out how to get my throttle to work in MP. I also manually typed in the TCP and UDP 10308 ports (in and outbound) but I think Comcast's version of McAfee AV opened them up automatically when Black Shark was installed. Though I could be wrong. Now I just need to print out ALL the key commands and get to work! Lotsa stuff to learn... but it's fun work. Hope to see everyone in MP and thanks again. Bob.

Hi, Long time Lock On/Flaming Cliffs enthusiast. I just downloaded and installed Black Shark in 32bit XP. The sim runs fine but when I click on the separate blue multiplayer icon I get the main menu with the server, client, options and exit icons but none work. When I select options I just get a picture of a blue Ka-50. When I select client I get the drop-down LAN, History and Internet options and when I select Internet I get a window with some columns in it but nothing else. Nothing seems to work. I was under the impression that I should get a list of servers there. It seems as though the multiplayer software didn't install correctly. Oh, I gave the sim internet permission both in and out in Comcast's McAfee AV. Any suggestions? Thank you, Bob.
