    Running Tacview with multiple DCS server instances on the same user account via different writedirs (DCS_server.exe -w DCS.server1..N) currently results in all Tacview files from all instances being combined into a single folder. Is there a way to have Tacview store the files within the profile/instance/writedir folder, i.e., %USERPROFILE%/Saved Games/DCS.serverN/?

    The only configuration option I found so far is the following registry key:

    [HKCU\\SOFTWARE\\Raia Software Inc.]
    "TacviewExportPath"="C:\\\\DCS_configs\\\\Tacview\\\\"

    Being part of HKCU, it results in a combined folder for all instances/writedirs as described above.

    What do I need this for? I maintain a project to facilitate running the DCS dedicated server on Linux via Wine. It supports multiple server instances with separate writedirs. After manual installation, Tacview runs well with it and I'd like to streamline the admin experience by separating Tacview files per server instance to provide fine-grained remote file access on a per-instance basis. Setting the directory via environment variables or alternatively a variable in the Tacview scripts or autoexec.cfg would be an option for me. Basically, any way to do this in an automated fashion would suit me.

    Also, to facilitate server-side Tacview deployment, I'd like to install the Tacview hook scripts and DLLs automatically. Would you be open to that? It would need a straightforward access to the relevant files, short of downloading the ~1 GB installer exe and extracting the required files from it. Feel free to DM me on this matter to discuss details.

    Hi,

    Inside each %USERPROFILE%/Saved Games/DCS.serverN/Config/options.lua file find the following option:

    		["Tacview"] = {
    			...
    			["tacviewExportPath"] = "",
    			...
    		},

    Does that work for you?

    For your other questions could you please email us at support@tacview.net ?

    Hello everyone, I can't connect the program for real-time telemetry in a single mission, there is no connection.
    I remember the intervention helped, in some dcs file I had to write a line, guys, does anyone know the solution to the problem?

    Hi, please share your DCS log, from Saved Games/DCS/Logs

    In Free camera mode I cannot move the camera position using the W A S D E C keys . Is there something additional i need to do to get this functionality ?

    (Win 11)

    Hi, make sure you have clicked in the 3D view in order to give it focus before using the hotkeys. Hold down shift at the same time to move the camera faster.

    *I don't speak English, this article was written using translation software, please understand if there is a misunderstanding.*

    I wanted to watch the replay while playing the DCS server, but it had a problem with its content logging.
    (Not how many minutes of delay is not recorded)
    I obviously played for a long time, and what I saw in the file was an abnormal file size.
    This issue is complicated and I can't explain it in the article, please download the accompanying logging file.
    This may be a problem that arises on my own, I want to know how to fix it, I have tried to remove all community mods, but it is not available.
    This file is client-side, and everything is fine with the file in the server.

    Hi, I downloaded this file and looked at it and I do not immediately see a problem. Can you please explain further what you are expecting to see vs what you actually see? You can respond to support@tacview.net for a quicker response.

    Hello,

    Sorry to bother you but I struggle with the terrain textures as detailed in your documentation.

    I tried to add custom textures as explained, but they appear under the default textures, and the default textures don't seem to be accessible in any folder. It seems that we can't remove them, unless by unticking the "custom textures" option, but then we get rid of all the textures, both default and new ones. The only solution is to put them in "Real World", but I wanted to use them on DCS terrain...

    Hi, the DCS default textures can't be removed, but if you place textures at %PROGRAMDATA%\Tacview\Data\Terrain\Textures\DCS World\ they should appear on top of the default textures. Let me know if it works.

    Thank you.
    The behavior changed in April (see my screenshot). Maybe with DCS 2.9.15.9408

    Hi, we have determined that this is a DCS bug which has been reported. While waiting for them to fix it, we have implemented a workaround so that where the mission title is not available the file name (of the .miz file) will be used. The workaround will be in the next beta. Thanks for reporting.

    Hi there,

    I've noticed that the filename of the mission is not anymore part of the tacview filename.null

    Is there a way to get the missionname back in the tacview filename?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi, I believe the mission name should be there only if you have joined a server. Does that explain it?

    It was recorded on my own PC. Here's one from just now in an F-16

    Hi, I just thought of something, are you using Tacview Starter? IAS is considered a part of "Advanced Telemetry" since it comes from the cockpit and is not calculated simply from the position of the plane unlike the other properties showing on your label. Advanced Telemetry is a feature of Tacview Standard and Tacview Advanced. https://tacview.fandom.com/wiki/Features

    Distances and bearings to objects recorded in DCS seems to calculated differently than to manually added objects (bombs in example pic):

    pic shows: bearing from object1 to manually added object2 (bomb) is 359.9° and distance is 19969m, but bearing and distance from object1 to more closer and righter eastern trolleybus (not manually added) is somehow 354.1° and 20001m

    Hi, can you please share the ACMI file? Send it to support@tacview.net for a quicker response.

    In the free version you cannot zoom out that much, how much can you zoom out in the standard version?

    Thank you 😄

    In the Standard version you can zoom out the same amount as in the free version. To zoom out all the way you need Tacview Advanced. It's a feature called Strategic View. See here for the full breakdown of features per version: https://tacview.fandom.com/wiki/Features

    Hey! Is it a faulty setting on my end or is Fuel weight and FF not recorded in Multiplayer (flying the F/A-18 Hornet on Caucasus)?

    Also, when I put in the setting "do not switch distance to feet" it still shows the distance between the carrier and me in feet...

    I'm using the free version of Tacview.  Anyone has any good idea? Thanks

    Update #1: Offline, Marianas map, Hornet = also no Fuel and FF readings in Tacview

    Update #2: Bought a license, still no change re. FF, Fuel weight and distance in nm

    Update #3: DCS settings under “Special” seem to be correct, capturing all data for Tacview

    Hi,

    Unfortunately fuel info is only available on certain aircraft and F/A-18 Hornet is not one of them.

    Make sure you have selected Units → Imperial - Aircraft (nm) or (mi) along with Do not switch distance to feet to get the desired result. (The option Units → Imperial - Data Analysis (mi) and (nm) are always in feet.)

    @Vyrtuoz

    It looks like the AGM-84 SLAM-ER is not being properly recorded in multiplayer. On the server tacview it seems to just carry on forward, while on the client of whoever fired the missile, the path is properly recorded and you see the missile connecting with its target.

    Hi, this kind of thing happens sometimes on a busy multiplayer server. DCS sometimes fails to correctly export all of the data related to every single thing that is happening on the server side and there may be minor discrepancies.

    If you think something more serious than this is going on you can send your files to support@tacview.net and we will take a closer look.

    A couple of quick questions....

    1) Is it possible to remove the object ID info for missiles from the selected aircraft?

    2) Is it possible to hide the separation data box in the middle of the dogfight line?

    Many thanks

    1) Do you mean like the label? You can customize the labels or turn them off altogether via the Display Object IDs menu - see screenshot attached. The label of the missile will mirror the label of the aircraft.null

    2) Between the two object selection drop down menus there is another drop down menu where you can un-tick Display in 3D View - see screenshot attached.

    null
