  1. PC gamer is not reviewing the game for sim-heads.. It's reviewing the game for your average gamer who does not want complex or a 400 page manual.. Wait for the PC Pilot review if you want the 'it's amAZinnG!!11!!!1' 99.999%xinfinity+abillion review..
  2. You can't disconnect the rudder from the trim in the real chopper, so you can't in DCS.. Use the RCtrl-Enter display and if your rudder trim is off just do a Ctrl-T reset trim, then quickly retrim so you don't pitch back practice practice practice it's pretty much reflex for me at this point I don't even think about it, just do it..
  3. This seems to happen if you overtorque or enter into a vortex ring (which results in substantial overtorque) and recover.. Like someone above said the INU goes haywire and the AP channels die.. you'll see the AP channel buttons flashing.. Usually just turning the channels off and back on resolves the issue, you may have to wait a minute (or three) for the INU to re-align.. As for this resulting in death, I would recommend practicint (At altitude) flight with all AP channels disabled.. It's actually not too hard once you get the hang of it.. Good practice for when this happens in the field.. Also watch your collective position and vertical rate indicator like a hawk when transitioning to a hover.. for me that was when I'd usually get stuck in this unfortunate situation as I was descencing too rapidly and not watching descent rate while trying to slow to a hover Good luck :)
  4. Thanks guys.. Defining a small dead-zone has indeed resolved this issue, and a couple other wierd little glitches I was having.. appreciate the suggestion :) tonight I move onto figuring out the weapon systems on this bird :)
  5. Hmm no but it's worth a shot I'll give that a try .. But it's strange that the stick actually moves slightly *after* I release the button, doesn't seem like a deadzone issue to me.. Is there somewhere in DCS to define a dead zone or do I need to do that w/ my joystick software?
  6. OK.. I have read every page, and checked every youtube video.. I am getting the hang of using the trim , however there is still some behaviour that seems bugged.. To test, I put the Ka-50 on the ground and spun the engines down to idle and started messing with the trim and noting stick position (for the record, I do not have a FFB stick -- maybe that's my problem) .. I am using a Saitek AV8R .. Anyways, my experiment was simple.. I left the stick centered, and pressed the trim button, held it and released.. I noticed the stick moved back slightly, so I repeated the process.. center the stick (hands off) and pressed the trim key (t on my keyboard -- wanted to make sure i was not committing any stick input) again, the stick moved back slightly in the cockpit.. repeat with 6 or 7 more presses of the trim key, and the stick will eventually be cuddled up in your lap.. So here's my question: if the trim is supposed to neutralize the stick at current position, why is the stick *moving* on it's own when i press and release the trim key? Can anyone shed some light on this behaviour, or try to reproduce it? Maybe it's a bug with my stick drivers if nobody else can..
