  1. Hey Andrew that is correct. I assume the destroyers back then weren't able to track submarines but the Frigates could. When I was stationed onboard the USS Bowen FF-1079. I don't remember us escorting any destroyers. Most of the destroyers were always part of a Carrier Strike Group. But this was from 1986 - forward when I entered the US Navy.
  2. tspencer227 that's a good point. Based on experience the Aircraft on deck may slide when the ship comes about. I've only seen it when an AI Helicopter lands though. If that's the case they need to be secured for sea but I assume they won't slide. I'm more interested in this feature because I create AI Ship models for DCS. This will be a great new feature.
  3. Hey BIGNEWY. I have a question regarding the steering and control features of the Supercarrier. Just curious will we be able to reverse the direction of the ship as well or will it just be steering the ship forward, port, and starboard? I assume we will have to enter the Carrier the same way we do in Combined Arms and then control the ship or will it be an external way of controlling the ship? I'm really looking forward to this feature. Many Thanks.
  4. Morning everyone. Yes, HM CH is working on the issue. I think he's releasing fixes gradually because he had a lot of mods affected by this issue. One of the missiles I declared was the RIM-116 which was affected. I've since reverted back to EDs RIM-116 for the moment until this issue is resolved. There's always a workaround for some missiles. Keep in mind we declared the missiles so it's up to us to find a fix. Not ED. No difference from when I was working in IT. 95% of the time you have to resolve the issues because those around you don't know the answer. ED is aware. I'll leave it at that. Aware.
  5. **** BROKEN MODS DUE TO RECENT ED UPDATE **** Good Evening everyone. ED's Latest update has broken a few CH and my mods. CH is working hard to solve this issue. I just noticed it yesterday. I did more testing today only to find that at least four of my mod-declared missile scripts are broken. The LCS Class USS Independence missiles are broken as well but it hasn't been released yet. When the missile launches they fly all over the place and into the water. It appears to be certain declared missiles though. There's always something. Always. The mods that are broken are Admiral Ushakov, the USS Constellation, FREMM Class Frigate which hasn't been released yet, and the USS Oak Hill. So far these are the only mods that I've tested. ---- With all that said I will not release any new mods until this issue has been resolved. I will however release the Comandanti Class Frigate as it doesn't have any missile launchers. Just another day in the office. I'm off to work trying to resolve the known issues. Just wanted to keep you all updated. Thanks.
  6. Hey Crud, RIMPAC is a great opportunity to work with ships from other nations but don't get caught out during morning or evening colors. Every country represented does colors every morning and evening and if you caught out on base. You have to stand at attention on base until there all finished. Thanks, RWC. Yes, Sebfoo I think your AV is very sensitive to downloading from the web. The mods are safe for download. PM me if you're still having issues downloading the mods. Hey Lukafred, it's good to hear you want to start creating 3d models. Unfortunately, there's no official guide. ED has a couple guides but they just show you how to setup 3ds max for modeling. 90% of what I learned was on my own and the other 10% was a few people showing me exactly how to create the mods for DCS. I learned 3DS max on my own and watched videos on YouTube and advice from others. My first recommendation is to learn how to use the Software to create the mods. Blender and 3ds Max are the top two applications used to create mods for DCS i think. If you understand how to use the software already then the first thing would be to learn how to create and texture a simple mod and import it into DCS. it can be anything. You can import a mod of a goat or just square box. Anything. I can create a sample DCS Mod file if you like. All you have to do is change the name of the mod. Once you learn to import the mods then you can learn to animate the file. I will create a sample file over the next few days and share it here with everyone in case someone else wants to learn. **ITALIAN MOD UPDATE** - Both are successfully gunning down targets in DCS. I'm still working on the FREMM mod. I will be working on the Missiles this week. One thing I've learned about using Substance Painter is the mod may look great in SP but it may look different in 3DS Max and in DCS. So it requires going back and forth until you get it right. So it's a bit more work but it's all about learning to texture mods in Substance Painter. I think I mentioned it already. There will be three versions of the FREMM Frigate. Two Italian versions one with a different bow gun and an Egyptian version. What you see To save time I will create the Andrea Doria and the Forbin together afterward because they are very similar mods. I may release them with the Cavour. Not sure yet. We'll see how it goes. So still work to do. Stay Tuned! Thanks.
  7. I tested the ship distance code using 160 feet apart and below is the result. The USS Oak Hill altered course shortly but formed back up. Thanks, Beldin. I forgot to mention during Underway replenishment we used a Phone and Distance line. Where you would have someone on each ship communicating with each other. A photo of the PD line is below. There's Sailors holding that line during the entire UNREP operation. GT.distFindObstacles = 160
  8. Happy Friday everyone. Although, every day is the weekend when you're retired. Thanks, Beldin, I was not aware of that line item. I was aware of it but didn't know the meaning of it. I will test it out to see how well it works. Beldin, you always have some inside DCS information. Good to know info. I will make that edit in future mods as well Eddie. Well, i need to test it first to see what distance works best. Great photos everyone. I worked those ships once in Japan. They handle pretty well. Powerful engines. I am finishing up the Bergamini FREMM Class Frigate textures. I think I've gotten the hang of Substance Painter texturing. As mentioned I'm keeping the textures simple because I have too many mods to work on. Next is the weapon animation and coding. It's been slow because of aches and pains but I keep it moving as much as I can.
  9. bbtbmb, the DCS game engine controls that. Each ship senses each others collision model, so they alter course temporarily and then form back up. In real life while conducting Underway Replenishment or UNREP they are usually 140 -160 feet apart. That's not possible in DCS unless you remove the collision model.
  10. The newly updated USNS Henry J. Kaiser AI Ship MOD is coming soon! The Italian AI Ship Mod pack is still a WIP. The Comandati Class Frigate is complete. Testing in progress. Stay Tuned! Thank you all for your patience.
  11. Thanks, McFly29, Oh, I know when to quit. The 3d models and DCS aren't going anywhere. At the moment I work at my own pace. No Stress. Thanks for looking out for my well-being. With regard to the Type42. I know of someone that's creating the Type42. Not sure if they will release it or not. I reached out to them and asked about it. One reason why I don't bother creating it. Nice, find Hawkeye. Perfect timing to release the mods. Eddie, after creating the Ferry mod. I said to myself it would be nice to go for a cruise on one of them. At some point I will have to take the family out on a cruise. Great job on the Liveries. That's why they call you the livery king. I have another Ferry that would be great for DCS if we could drive vehicles on and off of it. Waiting for the coding on that. That feature will change the way we operate in DCS. Speaking of Landings. Here's another great video for you all to watch. Listen to the power of the LCAC. Becoming an LCAC operator in the USN is challenging but can be done.
  12. Good Afternoon Everyone. With the assistance of CrazyEddie. We bring you all a Hurtigruten Class Cruise Ship Arcturus. I think they're mainly river cruise ships. Hurtigruten Class Cruise line is a Norwegian public coastal route transporting passengers that travel locally, regionally, and between the ports of call, and also cargo between ports north of Tromso. The mod comes with 10 Liveries with unique names and texture colors created by CrazyEddie. It was a short-notice mod creation that Eddie and I collaborated on. Enjoy.
  13. Good Morning Everyone. The Italian Warship modding is coming along well. Cavour will take time because of all the features but her Escorts should be done soon. WIP.
  14. Good Morning Everyone. I'm almost finished with the Italian Comandante Class Frigate. It takes time to figure out what textures work best for the 3d models but I think I got that figured out now. It's been slow because of my health but I do what I can when I can. Comandante Class Frigate Foscari Class is 98% complete. Weapons work well. I will finish her this weekend and start work on the Italian FREMM Bergamini Class Frigate and I will also create a version for the Egyptian Navy as well they operate two of the FREMM Class Frigates. Progress photos of the Foscari are below along with Liveries. Stay Tuned.
  15. Hey Andyo, no RN Amphib for the moment. The Bay Class will come eventually along with the Canberra and the TCG Anadolu. Testing has started on the USS America. It will take time to bring her back up to speed. I'm testing her weapons which will be revamped along with weapon sounds. I will leave the Aircraft testing to Beldin. Snapshots are below. Today is Mother's Day here in the US Although every day is Mother's and Father's Day. So no modeling today.
  16. Wow, Ggrewe. Nice to see the amphibious vehicles. It always gives me more motivation to keep going no matter how I feel. When I first created the LCU I think I was able to simulate tanks and soldiers going ashore using the scripts. Almost sure the script is still floating around out there. I do wonder at what point ED will release the new soldiers for DCS. Maybe they will release them with the CH-47. It seems the Amphibious ships and small assets are the most requested vessels for DCS. I assume it's because of the missions that can be created with them. Whenever you all create an Amphibious assault mission in DCS. Please share it. I would love to see it. Also Ggrewe, I appreciate the coffee. Thanks for contributing to my 3d AI Ship modeling efforts. I appreciate it. Thanks. --Short Sea story. While stationed onboard my first ship. The USS Spiegel Grove LSD-32 or building 32 because we were always in port broke down. They used to wake us at dark 30 to conduct Welldeck Operations. We would launch the LCUs, LCMs and LARCs with marines. They would be gone for a good while so we used to sleep on the Wing Walls in those big Kpok Lifejackets for hours. The Wingwalls are where we handle lines for the small vessels. As sailors, we slept wherever we could lay our heads. On our first deployment to the Mediterranean Sea, an LCU hit the left side of the ship entering the welldeck so hard that it sent us to the shipyard in Athens, Greece for a week or more for repairs. That was the best liberty I ever had. The good ole days. That was in 1987 BTW. Thank you Buur. If you can find some Russian amphibious assets I can bring them to life in DCS. I see there are a lot of Russian ports on the Kola Map. That's a pretty long channel to transit for the ships though.
  17. Thanks, Beldin for your assistance. I mentioned to Beldin there's another Knox Class 3d model in the works. Much cleaner model. Hey RWC, if you're asking will I be creating those mods? The answer is yes but as you know it will take time. The San Antonio is a very detailed mod with a welldeck. The problem with that is it's a pretty good size 3d model file and it's a little difficult to work with in 3DS Max at the moment. I'm trying to shrink it so it's manageable. Once it get to a manageable size it won't take long to get it back in DCS. After I finish the next batch of 3d model ships I will start working on the Amphibs again. I'm also reworking the LCU. The LCM-8 is pretty much ready to sail. Lots of work to do but i don't mind doing it when I'm able.
  18. Hello Everyone. I found some good entertainment for you all. Well deck Operations. Enjoy!!
  19. Hello everyone. The RoughMet Material issue has been solved thanks to CH and feedback from EightBall. CH took the time to get on a quick call and show me how it's done. Another task checked off my list of things to learn. I will work on finishing up the Italian ships for DCS. I am keeping the texturing simple concerning rust and weathering. I will create more hull numbers for the ships. I think they're too large. One of the downsides to creating 3d models using SP is creating liveries. So I will create all four versions of the Comandanti Class Frigate. Stay tuned. Thanks for your patience.
  20. Thanks, Beldin, I mentioned to him I'm creating a new model of the USS Bowen. Much cleaner version. Thanks for your assistance. Supersylph, I will upload the LCU-1627 to the new site and notify you all once it has been uploaded. Something that caught my attention is the ability for a vehicle to drive into the back of the new CH-47 that will be released next month. I'm hoping they can make that possible for ships as well. It's one reason I have held off on releasing the new LCM-8. I would like to add that feature to the LCU and ships also. I've tried adding a collision model on the ramp but it still doesn't allow vehicles to load. Italian Frigate update. Texturing is complete on the Comandanti. However, I would like to include RoughMet material but I can't find clear guidance on how to create it. If any of you know how to create a roughMet and or know someone that does please PM me. CH sent me a link but it seems it's more to it than that. Otherwise, I will texture, code, and make her sea-bound this week. Thank you all for your support and assistance.
  21. HM, I can receive messages. I just sent out a message to someone and received a reply so it's working. I will send you one.
  22. Thanks, Hawaiian. I think I linked it under the Livery vice the Encyclopedia File. It's there now. Thanks again. Way too much going on. Highmaintenance, please send me the files. Thanks. A lot of you are talented when it comes to 3D Modeling. We need a central place where you can upload your work. I was thinking of creating a new Forum just for that. Along with Modeling errors and so forth. For now, just PM me what you have and we can go from there. Thanks.
  23. Hey Andyo, please PM Beldin and he may be able to assist you with the Hermes as well but I think that's Joey's Mod. Reach out to the Author of the Mod Joey as well. Thanks.
  24. Thanks, Ivan-Avanov-1902, I will add the OSA Styx file to the existing lua file. The Russian destroyer Admiral Ushakov Encyclopedia file has been updated. The ship's name was incorrect. It needs to be the same as the Main.Lua file name. -- The Admiral Ushakov Encyclopedia file has been uploaded for download. Hey Andyo, the AI helicopter landing spot works fine but I will adjust the location as that's the vehicle loading area to the far right. Thanks, Beldin, I just saw your post. I will update the existing Mod file and upload it for everyone to download. I know some people are not tech-savvy. Thanks again.
  25. Hey, I love you, you have to make sure the ship is in Deepwater or it will not move. I didn't create a collision model for the Rebel ship. I will create one for it. No worries. All I'm back and back to work. I enjoyed some quality time with the family.
