  1. I have created a version of this campaign for the SuperCarrier module. You can find it here:

    https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3309910/

FOR THOSE THAT ARE PLAYING THE ORIGINAL F/A-18C CAMPAIGN AND WANT TO UPGRADE TO SUPERCARRIER WITHOUT LOSING THE CURRENT PROGRESS (PROVIDE YOU HAVE PURCHASE THE MODULE, OF COURSE), FOLLOW THIS STEPS:

    1. Backup your .../The Abkazian War F18/status/status.lua in other folder

    2. delete the original campaign folder

    3. reinstall again the new campaign

    4. Play the 1st and 2nd mission to advance to the main scenario

    5. copy again the backup of status.lua in its correspondent folder. (IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KEEP THE CURRENT PROGRESS, SKIP THIS STEP)

    enjoy!

  2. Damn, it sure looks nice to have all 3 aircraft on deck of the SC F-14/18 and A4. And actually, taking off and catching a wire works. Even being directed to the catapult works to the point until you are supposed to lower the launchbar. But if you go full power you are actually shot off with enough speed to successfully fly off the boat. Sure some work is required, but it might not be a total nightmare to get this fixed up in the future.

Oh, and one thing i noticed was that you need to either give a bit of power or push the brakes to not have the SC roll forward under you. I guess there is some new code on the naval aircraft to link them to the carriers that needed to be added to the mod as well.

I have been messing around a bit with the SC and the A-4E. Although the catapults are not working during the take off, I think the SC is a great improvement to the A-4E carrier operations. As the A-4E hasn't any kind of ICLS, landing in a carrier is very difficult (more in VR because it is hard to see clearly the bearing of the carrier or the ball).

With the aid of the stern lights and the director light panel, in VR it is a world easier to get this beauty safe on the deck.

It is a pity that the A4-E can't use the radio commands because, except that, the wheel chokes and the catapult, all the other stuff works fine.

Heclak, do you believe that adding a catapult launch and wheel chokes (as was done to the vanila) will be possible in the future?

  3. +1

DCS is a wonderful playground for those of us who love military aviation.

The product is impressive, very complex and realistic. Because of that and virtual reality, I have somehow fulfilled my childhood dream of being a pilot.

  4. Hi,

I haven't found anything about this using the search tools or in the bug tracker but, when I request to rearm and refuel from a FARP, DCS close to desktop as soon as the ground team respond to the harrier. :(

This only happen with the OB, not in the stable.

This problem is a true game stopper to the harrier unique characteristics, someone more has the same problem?

    regards

  5. For me hidding behind the buildings works pretty well in that missions. I just engage collective autopilot a little over the building top as soon as I can get a clear view of the targets, and kill the tanks with total impunity.

It is true that, if you go up too much, the tanks will spot you and kill you because they aim like snippers.

  6. Hello,

There is a bug related with the door gunners and VR when you take control of them. I don't know if the bug has been informed yet, but at least I have found a "workaround" (I have been searching in the forum and youtube if there is a better solution, but I haven't found anything).

    Best regards

  7. Hello,

It seems that, when you take off from a FARP (with the Gazelle i.e), the ATC didn't realize when you take off. So when you open the radio menu again, the only option in the ATC menu is "abort take off".... even if you are in the air an away from the FARP.

This prevents you from request landing, so in night operations it is very difficult to land on the FARP because it never turn on the landing lights.

    Best regards

  8. For me, between this free period (now ended on Steam) and the 2 days free some weeks ago, I have purchased the F-18, the supercarrier and all the 4 helicopters.

I sure wouldn't have bought all those modules in a row if I hadn't had a chance to try them out first. So this is a very welcome trade move from ED and third parties. It is a win-win for everyone!.

Proof of that is that I was not sure about the Heatblur F-14 and, as I couldn't tested it propertly during the 2 days free period, I haven't buy it and choose other products instead.

The fact of having some days to test the module ensure you that you will not have software/hardware issues, low FPS in VR, and that the aircraft meets you expectations. The trailers are awesome, but many times they doesn't match the user experience.

For clients, like me, who are able to overcome the "hype" created during the launch of a module, this is one way to get our attention. So, well done ED, keep it that way!

  9. Thanks Draconus, that is a very useful link (for steam users even more, because on steam is a bit confusing what is what)

So, if stable is 2.5.5.41371.1, I have the stable installed (checked, same version on Steam) and I'm currently using the JF-17.

But people keeps complainig that JF-17 is only playable in OB ^_^

  10. Stupid question: The 2.5.5 is the Stable and the 2.5.6 is the OB, aren't they

I'm asking because I have the 2.5.5 installed and I can fly the JF-17 in that version (because the free trial month). Maybe is because I have steam version? or maybe because weeks ago I upgrade to 2.5.6 in steam and then rollback to 2.5.5 (Not clean installation, just rollback)

    O_O

  11. They likely put that there because that was the only place they had room for it. Don't think they could have put the receptacle on the wing. Midway back on the spine (like the F-16) would have been nice. Really stinks that you can't use the lights because the boom is in the way.

One thing on the early disconnects. You don't have to open/close the slipway door to reset the AAR system, though that is one way to do it. If you disconnect early, just press the NWS button on your stick, that also resets the system so you can reconnect. That will give you the READY light again on the refuel status lights.

I din't know that other option. Does even exists the NWS for the A-10a? O_O

  12. Save track feature is harmful to your SSD, because continually updating more .bin files in DCS temp folder during your missions. (Not recorded to RAM.)

Only after the mission ending compile the hundred megabytes big .bin files to your LastMissionTrack.trk for single player (.zip-ed) that can you save as other name.

In my installation NTFS folder junction point DCS temp folder to HDD.

That's even worse! if it's continuously saving in the hard disk, the process should be slower and more time consuming.

Where is the DCS temp folder?
