  1. The US Military's biggest adversary isn't Russia or even China...it's Social Security and Medicare. Against those foes, the A-10's gun is quite useless.
  2. Hi all, I have noticed lots of strange shadow flicker on the terrain in the distance. It appears like shadows coming through window blinds. I've also noticed that the "beach" textures flicker like this in Lock On when displayed on the lower half of the screen. I'm using a GTX 200 series with the latest drivers, but also noticed these effects using older 7 series nvidia hardware. I've tried messing with driver options, but nothing seems to work. It's not a show-stopper, but it's very annoying and i haven't noticed it on any of Matt's videos.
  3. I would like to see something with carrier ops, just cause. Since the US has the most complex navy, I guess I'd go with a Hornet of some type. And also, can we get a change of scenery? South China Sea, anyone?
  4. Are you shutting down the APU after engine start up? Just a thought.
  5. This sucks, especially when Gates mentioned the F-35 as a "superiority" fighter. The Air Force has long held the F-22 would be the last manned air superiority fighter, and with only 187-2 airframes to last us well into the middle of the century, I just don't see how this plan is going to work. Sure the F-35 has a cool cockpit and minor stealth, but it's not a good airframe, not as good as most 4th gen fighters and probably not as good as some 3rd. It's a shame that in just 3 months a guy can come in and destroy decades worth of work, work that can't be redone with a different, wiser administration down the road.
  6. When flying Black Shark today I noticed something I don't think I've ever noticed before in 20 years of flight simming: When you yaw to the left using rudder (as in, the nose points to the left of original heading) the left rudder pedal is pushed forward in the cockpit. Having no flight experience, is it really like this? I'm shocked at how totally backwards this seems. I've always setup controls so that I would push the right pedal to yaw left and vice versa. Is there some reason the opposite is true that I'm not seeing? Do aircraft allow this to be reversed with a gear or something? How much would I have to pay Cessna for a custom pedal action? Sorry if these seem like stupid questions, but it's like someone just told me I'd been steering my car in the wrong direction all these years.
  7. The pilot, David Cooley, was killed in the crash. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090326/ap_on_re_us/f22_crash
  8. 182. Hope the pilot is okay.
  9. Hi all, quick question. I got distracted by real life during a campaign mission and my Ka-50 crashed. At the debriefing screen it gave me the option to refly the mission, but I was going out to dinner, so I just closed DCS:BS and turned my system off. I was planning on reflying the relatively simple mission today, but it gives me a different mission and says I have a campaign death and a less-than-stellar success rate. Is there anyway I can refly that mission without having to restart the entire campaign? Thanks for any help.
  10. Thanks for the help guys, I got it to move once by just hitting every button I could find, but wasn't sure what I had done, so thanks for pointing it out. I guess you can use the mouse wheel for a lot of the dials. Anyways, I'm seriously considering a TrackIR just so I can find all the buttons and switches in a timely manner (and so I can take a closer look at the text). Alright, back to Shkval.
  11. Hi all, just got Black Shark now that I have a GPU that can run it. Since this sim is way too complex for me to just skate through, I'm going through the trainings in great detail. During the "cold start" training, and also in Matt's videos, it is shown you can "uncage" the backup artifical horizon to the right of the HUD. However, when I click the dial, nothing happens. I've tried dragging the mouse like I do to dim the HUD, but I can't seem to get it. What am I doing wrong? Also, the yellow levers that control the throttle (I believe) on the bottom left of the cockpit don't seem to move with the mouse. Are they supposed to or do we have to use the keyboard command (Pageup)? Thanks for any help. Okay, I've already wasted enough time and need to get back to learning how to fire something other than the cannon.
