  1. I'm bumping this just because after spending most of my DCS time in campaigns I last week had another round at the Syria Framework mission with great anticipation at some nice flying and later tried to run a few Caucasus missions created through Liberation. Neither worked at all and I got around 10 FPS for both missions long after I loaded into them and at both occurrences my CPU was around 20% and my GPU between 40%-70%. On a "regular" mission like any of the paid campaigns or free ones the GPU quickly goes to 99% and pretty much stays there. I totally fail to understand why DCS doesn't utilize the whole GPU for some missions! If the CPU were also at or near max I would understand the bottleneck but it's almost like DCS isn't even trying. Nothing has changed on my side, still the same AMD Ryzen5 3600XT, Asus 3060ti, 32gb RAM, M2 SSD and I'm keeping current with the beta release track.
  2. Thank you for putting a Gazelle campaign on the scene, I appreciate it. I've been waiting for a good narrative for the Gazelle and pretty much bought the campaign as soon as it was released, I didn't even read the "sales pitch", which I kind of regret now. I know one shouldn't mix gaming and actual events and DCS and it's developers has had their share of heat after the Russian war with Ukraine...but I managed to get to mission 5 and to be honest I'll have to but the campaign to rest for a while. This says alot of the atmosphere of the campaingn, the voiceover and such. But flying as a Russian PMC right now with the news streaming on my retinas isn't working for me.
  3. Comforting answers, or at least I will look into my mission start behavior a bit. Since I'm usually time constrained when I have an opportunity for DCS I mostly aim to get fighting ASAP (I know I know, mission planning etc is everything) but if I have an hour tops I want to maximize my flying. This might lead me to get into the air before all units are calculated by DCS as you guys describe. Tacview and such are already disabled and since these problems only occur during very detailed missions I'm more inclined toward Boosterdog's answer. /Fredrik
  4. Greetings I've been fiddling with an issue I've had for a while, trying to understand what cause this. So far I've deduced that whenever I load a mission with a high number of preloaded ground or air units my FPS suffers. Examples of missions are those generated by Liberation dynamic campaign or the excellent Syria Framework. The thing is if I use the Nvidia overlay my GPU is fluctuating from 50%-99% as well as my CPU going from 10%-40%. I get the feeling the GPU stops processing while waiting for the CPU to do something. I would understand the FPS issue if all processors were at 99% but they aren't. If I run a "normal" mission like a official campaign I get 10-20% CPU and a constant 99% GPU and FPS is just fine by my standards. I've been trying to disable different addons to DCS like Tacview but that doesn't improve things. I don't have a monster PC per se but still, AMD Ryzen5 3600XT, Asus 3060ti, 32gb RAM, M2 SSD. Again, since the processors aren't even running at their potential it seems to me it's "something else". Please help me understand this. Regards Fredrik
  5. Greetings I use the Liberation dynamic campaign generator alot since I think it adds a nice touch to this great sim, awaiting EDs own dynamic campaign of course. Anyway, I noticed one thing recently. Whenever I run a Liberation generated mission I get very poor performance from DCS and the Nvidia overlay show my GPU fluctuating from 60%-90% utilization, when running ED or fan-created missions GPU is pegged at 99%. If it was a case of DCS and Windows 10 having trouble with Liberation loaded in the background this issue should remain even if I'm not running a Liberation mission, but it doesn't. If I start Liberation, generate a mission and DO NOT start that mission in DCS everything is fine, but if I then load that mission in DCS I have issues. Any ideas? AMD Ryzen5 3600XT, Asus 3060ti, 32gb RAM, M2 SSD. Regards Fredrik
  6. Hi Flappie I did the Restore Defaults and folder delete. Quality dropped slightly in DCS, probably since I had "Enhance application antialiasing" enabled. However it didn't change my FPS behaviour. I tried a Cauc mission and a Libery generated Syria mission, these quickly gets unplayable for me, and FPS was all over the place. Jumping from 20-70. I've watched a few tweaking videos on Youtube and all of them seems to have stable FPSs. Clearly my computer is dowing something every few seconds that causes the FPS to drop. This is anoying since my Windows 10 installation is maybe 2 years old and since I'm in my 40s I don't have anything "extra" installed other than what's provided by AMD and Nvidia. I do however suspect the Icue/corsair keyboard app which seems to have had issues in the past but I have no evidence. /Fredrik
  7. Hi I chime in. I haven't noticed a problem before other than when I get ambitious and overestimate my performance but I came here to look for support. Even in Caucasus FPS is jumping constantly between 30-60FPS and sometimes down as low as 20. I even had a few issues where the FPS drops to 5 just when I pass the mountains. Specs AMD Ryzen 5 @ 4ghz 32gb RAM Nvidia 1660 Windows and DCS och M2 /Fredrik
  8. Hi all I'm a chopper person, I like to hide in the weeds and stalk my prey and obviously the Gazelle has been my preferred tool for years. The announcement of the Kiowa first struck me with excitement, more modern than the Gazelle and with a higher mounted observation dome for even more stalking. But as I began to follow the posts, videos and screenshots a thought struck me. What is the actual purpose of releasing the Kiowa? Don't get me wrong, I'll probably end up in the Kiowa cockpit eventually but from a market perspective I'm curious. DCS already has a light helicopter with similar load-out capability. /F
  9. So basically the glorious F-18 has copied the ground radar from the Viggen? Discalimer: I'm a Swede so biased Viggen but still love the F-18
  10. I've got the exact same thing going on. DCS works fine in single play but freezes up a few seconds after clicking multiplayer. As a test I uninstalled Tacview and SRS but no luck. As I see it it started after the latest update in openbeta.
  11. Thank you guys for for the input. I'll will try to gather some more detailed information, tracks isn't something I've dealt with before so I'll look into it. Of course I didn't enter a server until I felt I was absolutely at home with all the controls of the SA342 which includes the startup sequence which Isn't that complicated in my opinion. #5 got me thinking though, as you said, I should have had a track file to analyze but the clearance to ground might have been the issue with the missile. I WAS nearly touching ground with the heli while I was firing and the missiles had to pass over a road with a bridge on the way. Since posting I've set me up with a SAM single player mission and after a few flights I've yet been unable to replicate the laser problem. I've also run a few server missions, it's not my server by the way but a public one, and at both engagements I took off with the Vivane system on standby (V) but TV, key and master arm on. Once I got close enough to engage I turned everything on and had no problem lasing my targets. Four HOT = four hits. /Fredrik
  12. Greetings Let me share a story and see if someone has a similar experience. I enter a reasonably populated server and take off in the M at a FARP heading for a SAM site. Since it's a hot zone I turn the TV on and arm the HOT and IR so I can scan for targets on the way. It's a 15-20 minute flight to the target and I have the nadir set for the site. At 8km left on the nadir I sneak behind a house to get a view of the SAM site, it's got tons of short range defenses. When I try to laze one of the Tunguskas the laser doesn't even give a reading, cover is off and key is on day, I see the laser button move. Very well, I find a good route to get closer and at a small hill the nadir says 3,8km to waypoint. I pop up behind the hill and get a great view of the site with defenses and all, still no laser reading but from the TV zoom I estimate I'm well within range. One defense SAM has me locked, I point my 342 at it and fire. The missile blows up after a few seconds. Damn, I see the SA10 radar, even better view, fire at it and Boom, missile blows up. Same thing with the SA10 missile launcher. I then pop out too much and the short range gets me. Frustration! Another server SA342M, start up, hover, TEST laser, seems to work, 6700 to some hill, 4800 to some tree line. Proceed to target. Laser a building en-route, get 67, laser a hill further away, get 67 again. Get shot down by Mirage. What is going on here? Is it some super-realistic "thing" I'm missing here? Is there some laser malfunction being accurately modeled and I'm unwittingly causing it to break? Or, dare I say, is this a programmatic error? Navigating to target is part of the experience, I know, but as I have a limited amount of computer time I expect after 20 minutes of grinding at the very least the weapon systems to work when I arrive on target. Regards Fredrik
  13. No worries, and I agree, an empty server is great for training but not really "fun". I just forgot to check the forum before saddling up. I am going to enjoy the videos though. /F
  14. Saturday evening...kids are asleep..finally time for some serious Viggening before I get too tired to fly straight even on autopilot. "Closed due to private party" Duuude?!
