I guess let's settle this by agreeing that they will develop it all :D (Tornado, A-6, F-111)...and by the way the A-6 needs of crs also the F-4 as its buddy...by accident also a multi-crew plane ;).....anybody remembering Flight of the Intruder (the simulation) ?
-
Thx Nicholas and yeah I hope that too :D, the Tornado would be just awesome

Hi, I'd have two questions regarding early access of F14 and one general question: - is the product during early access cheaper ? - what is the expected timeframe (I know this can only roughly being answered) for a general release: is it more 6 months or a full year after early access? and - in the christmas update it was mentioned that JESTER AI will not be fully implemented. Was that with respect to early acccess or in general ? Or to rephrase my question: When JESTER AI gets enhanced, will this be downported to all modules (e.g. F14) or will the improvements be only available for future products ? Thanks

thx for the info/links to both of you

Sorry if that was already somewhere answered and I have not found it: I understand that currently DCS is only a platform for flight simulators but any chance that later also naval vessels (ships, submarines) may be an option ? Apart from SteelBeasts I do not know of any other engine, which is currently in active development for military simulations...

Very promising, especially with the advanced rio AI. But I would urge the developers - if possible - to wait until Carrier Ops is included....a F14 simulator within the GUIK/Norwegian Sea area (I am just guessing here :) ) without Carrier Ops would be weired.

yup, I think I get it :)....it's really not that expensive...

Hi, would it be fair to say that F-15C has a similar realism like Jane's F/A 18 ? And how mature is air to air combat in DCS now ? I'd just like to have a gut feeling before I buy this product. Thanks!

I see the challenges and I do not expect it for the next time. But for the devs it would be a new challenge in a couple of years...to simulate a (believable) WSO. And how much fun would it be to fly such a plane together (multiplayer)? Multi-station was/is very popular in the naval sim 'Dangerous Waters'. People really liked to play together in the same platform and I do not see any reason why that should not be a success also in the flight sim genre.

"DCS Flying Legends" ...does that mean there is a possiblity that you guys also simulate vietnam-era planes like the 'F4' and 'A6 Intruder'? So, a 'Flight of Intruder 2' basically...men, that would be really cool :).

I get my new PC soon and I still do not know if I shall buy BS2 or A10C (do not have time for both). You might help me in my decision finding ;) by giving feedback on this issue: I've read that the DCS wingmen/general AI is quite good now...is the same true for A10C after the last patches? I do not expect an AI without shortcomings just that it is enjoyable also to play offline concerning 'atmosphere'. Thanks.

I had bought BS 1,5 years ago but due to real life issues I never got really into this sim. Now, I want to take a serious ride with BS2 when my new PC arrives :). So, is the tutorial mode in the sim (BTW: has it improved compared to BS1?) still the best way to learn the sim? Or is there also some good community content available...I'm pretty out of the loop... Thx folks.

That would be awesome, although they would have to create a more or less complete new engine, I guess. If they would achieve the same fidelity like in DCS A-10, the manual would consists of several thousand pages, I guess ;).

Hey, I'm not an owner of A10C yet, but the sim looks very promising, also the mission editor seems to be awesome, with a lot of power and even Lua integration. Since I like designing missions at least much like flying, my concern is that testing is a little struggling due the long load times of the sim (at least I've read this several times in reviews). So if you are in the mission editor and you wanna test your stuff, does it always take 1-2 minutes to load the sim? Thanks.

I'd like to know if DCS is in the long run a pure 'airborne' battlefield or if there might be a chance that we also have the possibility to command a naval unit (I mean a destroyer/submarine etc.) or is that completely out of scope? Thx.

I am also strongly encouraging the devs that they implement a dynamic campaign for the next platform (AH-64 ?). Perhaps also a solution might be that the next product after A-10 contains only the framework/campaign engine itself with a somewhat limited content and the community creates a full blown campaign if the necessary tools are provided. Any game/simulation, which has not a dynamic campaign, does not stay for a long time on my harddisc. Perhaps some people remember here Red Storm Rising. It was a nuclear sub simulator, developed in 1988, originally for the C64!!. It has still the best atmosphere in any modern sub simulator and the major reason is its beautiful dynamic campaign engine! I am still playing that superb simulation. But I appreciate that there will be mission generator for the A-10C!

First fighter to be added to DCS: Black Shark?
hawk66 replied to Alexrey's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I fully agree.. I simply love this plane .modeling of a multi-seat aircraft would be really cool. Of course quite tough to do (AI) although for AH-64 it would be also needed^^. -
Did you already consider to expose an API in future products? The API of Civilization 4 is a big success and a community-driven AI enhancement was even the basis for a commercial AddOn.

Oh :), I've expected anything but not that amount of feedback. Thanks guys! Just on remark to the AI of Falcon4AF(latest patch): I think it has a pretty good, dynamic AI...by no means it is perfect, but it gives you sometimes the feeling that you are really in a virtual fighter/environment. It's true...you can't make anybody happy. I see the point that the focus of this sim is the helicopter itself. But I just do not like 'sterile' simulations. I've skimmed the manual for the mission editor and it looks that it has a lot of functions. But my experience is: You can have such tools but it will by no means a substitute for a dynamic campaign/AI like Falcon4 or even a very old sim like RedStormRising has. I do not know if anybody knows the naval sim 'Dangerous Waters'. It has a very sophisticated editor, a couple of random functions (probably even more than Black Shark has). But until now I haven't seen a very good, dynamic campaign which is replayable. I've tried it by myself: You try to create a complex, dynamic scenario(that means you use a lot random functions/triggers etc.) but: there is no automatic testing like unit testing in programming languages. You change sth and you often have to test the whole stuff again you basically can only create simple rules in the form IF....ELSE...ENDIF but sometimes you need to use more advanced algorithms like fuzzy logic or even simple loops. it's a huge amount of work but the most important issue: you just simply loose the overview. You have hundreds of triggers/functions available and they are all connected because you try to build a dynamic mission/campaign. But you, as a human, don't have a chance to handle this complexity. Try to create 100 rules to filter emails in your favorite email program. Are you already lost? But that's just a piece of cake in comparison to create a dynamic scneario. There's another sim: Steel Beasts pro (tank sim). In this sim the approach with the mission editor works because the goal is to create (reproducable (but a little randomized) training missions for the military and no campaigns. I'll wait until the patch to make my final decision but nevertheless I'll really appreciate that there is now a producer which creates high fidelity simulations. So this post is no bashing but just to express my personal opinion!.

I'm new to this forum :), so hello everybody^^. I've read the positive IGN review and considering to buy DCS Black Shark. I hesitate due to some negative comments on the AI...in the review and in some forum threads. I've to say that a good AI is quite important for me. To make it a little more comparable: How would you compare the AI of Falcon 4 Allied Force/Longbow Apache 2 to this sim ? I can live with a weak ground AI but not with stupid wingmans and enemies. Thanks for any feedback guys^^.
