74th virtual EFS Recruiting A-10C Pilots
The 23rd virtual Expeditionary Wing evolved from the 74vEFS
The original 74vEFS was created in honor of the real life 74th EFS receiving the Gallant Unit Citation during 2017-2018 combat operations in Syria. The 74th was the 5th recipient of the combat award and the first individual unit to receive the Gallant Unit Citation. We quickly expanded beyond the capacity for a single A-10C squadron and are enjoying the expeditionary wing structure flying multiple airframes, mission types and presenting our pilots with a diversity of challenges and learning opportunities.
Update 23 March 2020:
Our leadership team is comprised mostly of military veterans. We've seen a tremendous upswing in active duty, veteran and retired military membership (thank you all for your service!) & we are fortunate enough to have an active duty JTAC - Rusty.
On the civilian side we have some extraordinary real life pilots (private, commercial, instructors) who have sharpened their fangs in the 23rd vEW & have stepped up helping all of us become better virtual pilots - we're grateful to have each of you!

All 23rd virtual Expeditionary Wing pilots can expect a variety of training and combat missions in their primary airframe with opportunities to cross train and dual or event triple qualify on airframes (truly exceptional sim pilots are fully capable of mastering multiple airframes over time).
Wing highlights:
--Most of our pilots are active duty, reserve, retired and military veterans covering all branches.
--Real world pilots, instructors
--Diversity of civilian and military backgrounds contributing to the overall knowledge base and participating actively in wing direction (e.g. mission ideas, planning, leading)
--Friendly, laid back environment but we stay squared away for training and missions
--Cross training allowed (each pilot has a primary airframe but can train and qualify on any airframe the 23rd vEW deploys) NOTE: Pilots should reach BMC and be working on CMR prior to cross training
--Flight lead training and qualification is offered and encouraged for all 23rd pilots
--CAS/FAC(A) training and qualification is offered and encouraged for all 23rd pilots
--Skill Board based on USAF AFI11-2A-10Cv1-5 (Hog) & USAF AFI11-2F-16Cv1-5 (Viper) + Army Aviation FMs. Skill board evals via self-assessment, IP assessment (spot checks), squadron leader assessments (spot checks)
--Pilots progression from BMC to CMR via check rides, pilot upgrades and IP evals
--Pilot upgrades include: CAS, CSAR, ACBT, Weapon Delivery Parameters, TGP, LASDT, Flight Lead, S&E evaluator, NVG, IFR, BFM, ACM, BAI, SEAD, EPs
--Pilots can progress as flight leads, Standardization & Evaluation officer, FAC(A) pilots, JTACs, Section lead pilots, and multiple leadership / functional roles within the wing including IPs, CAS/FAC(A) instructor, ACBT instructor, ATC, GCI, Aggressor pilot
--All leadership and IP roles are voluntary
--For A-10C Pilots, completion of the Maple Flag A-10C training results in near CMR rating (Must still complete pilot upgrades relevant to multiplayer). W
--Life/Family come first (we don't just say that, we live it!) We have guys that have been out for serious illness, military deployments and even family situations that are still in the wing (only way we drop pilots is no response on check ins in conjunction with no activity and not letting wing leadership know you'll be gone).
--We're here for the long haul and strive to provide an online squadron home for DCS pilots interested in flying USAF aircraft as close to the real thing as possible in the confines of a sim.
--No drama (the drama queens are long gone and not tolerated here) we're here to have fun and fly simulated combat missions as a group of friends sharing a love of military aviation.
--Honoring the real life 23rd Wing! We do as a hobby what the pros in the 23rd Wing do in real life - we thank them for their service to our country and thank all our member veterans for their service to our country. As part of honoring the real world 23rd Wing, we try to train and achieve excellence in all things CAS, CSAR and any other tasking A-10Cs might be given.
--While our focus is PvE Coop in DCS World, we do have a PvP Air to Air CombatTeam and are always looking for more good dogfighters.
