Oh wow, you are a STAR! Thank you very much for that. We will put it to work tonight and I will report back. You are absolutely correct about the error being recoverable, however only within a certain response time. Its more than a minute for sure but I haven't timed it. If the pop-up window on the server is not "OK"´d then first the clients time out then the server decides to die. IF I OK the error message, the server continues and pilots "unfreeze".

Hi CFrag, I´m still running that small server for friends, its a windows 10 pro machine with 32GBs of RAM and an i7 CPU. Windows and DCS are of course patched up at all times and we are using v1.71 of your mission. I access and admin it using mstsc.exe from the LAN. It runs comfortably until it crashes occasionally. I can´t see a time pattern but one or two error windows with script errors pop up. If I happen to be around and am quick I can click OK on the first one an the server continues, nobody is disconnected .. just a little confused over the server hiccup seen as the unresponsive environment. If I am not around .. the server will then remove the pilots and die. The server has 30MBit upstream to the internet clients, 250MBit down and has been running with usually 5-7 players and sometimes up to 10. Could you help me to fix it please? Thanks again for your time, Expansion is a gift that keeps giving, we are enjoying it a ton! Plop. P.S: I looked at the logs and picked out some bits that look relevant .. but that filter is ofcborn of my ignorance. Dare I ask if/when a new version of OnStation might surface? It is the BEST mission ever in my book and it would mean a great many happy hours of Sunday morning flying if it were brought up to 1.2.3.

Unanswered question :helpsmilie: Hi, I occasionally would like to run a server on my notebook. I have it all installed and setup nicely to run the game but it is not visible in the server list. The Server is hosting an "Internet" game and incoming ports 10308 and 10309 (TCP and UDP) are forwarded from my Router. Also the Windows Firewall is OFF and there is no other firewall SW on it. I can see it (serverlist set to LAN) and join it from my gaming PC on the same LAN however friends tell me its not visible on their "Internet" serverlist. Now I know the ("Internet") server list is far from being an atomic clock in terms of reliability but it would be nice to be able to check if my server is in there or not. How can I do that? (Suggestion: a web-based serverlist for viewing only would probably be easy and very usefull .. ?) I seem to remember that a server (set to "Internet") hosted on my LAN will not be visible in the internet server list from my gaming PC on the same LAN (never understood why). Is that correct or should I see it there?

..another night of not being able to play. After 30 minutes of login attempts Im once again sick to the teeth. Just a suggestion but how about a concept like Microsoft has with HOTFIXES for issues that require immediate remedy and shouldnt have to wait until the next patch (service pack) release. This problem was around since day one of this version... and that wasnt last week or last month.

I favour the monaural Plantronics headsets when gaming. That way I can hear whats coming out of the speakers and get dedicated voice output "closer" (USB versions act as an independant sound device). http://www.plantronics.com/uk/product/blackwire-200

A friend and I flew Seperatist Agression Part I for almost 4 hours yesterday evening and had a LOT of fun.The mission worked fine (at least up until the task to attack the airport .. we stopped there). Thank you! -
Heute: LAUFEND CTD nach Master Server Anmeldung... bevor die Serverliste kommt. War vorher Host eines Spiels, beim Disconnect klicken war die Serverliste leer. Neustart des spiels zeigt o.g. Problem ... immer und immer wieder. Neulich gabs das schonmal einen ganzen Tag lang, aber statt bei der MS Anmeldung dann beim Versuch sich mit irgendeinem Server zu verbinden. Heute morgen (ca. 9:30) gabs ständig "Connection Interrupted". Erde an ED: DIESES SPIEL IST KAPUTT. 1.1.1.1 stürzt beim Spielen längerer Missionen auch fast immer ab .. AUCH KAPUTT. BS2 Upgrade geht in World nicht (Frechheit). Wozu genau habe ich BS1, BS2 upgrade und A-10 gekauft wenn das alles nur sporadisch funktioniert ?

Im having the same problem .. out of the blue with no changes since flying last. Same server too. Joey, could you possibly expand on "clearing out teh net work files??" so I can understand it ?

IF we had radar guided missile control on ground vehicles .. and IF radar could be turned on/off I can still image it´s not going to bo what some people are imagining since a radar system is a complex sorta thing and not a TV that you just turn on and get a picture in 5secs or so, right? Also "Peek-a-boo / bang-bang /you´re dead / I´m invisible now" is a bit of a weak approach to MP engagement in my book. -
Hi Viper, I realize that not all Squads actively seek recruits. My post was intended to be seen by those who do, and to a degree it was. In parallel I had already checked the Squadrons thread and looked at the forums of a few Squads that looked appealing. The former was (my perception) rebuked by the "check the sticky.." slap on the back of my head which I didn´t take so well. The latter approach met barriers I wasn´t prepared to jump over, like providing personal details to get a first look at a forum or the need to abide by a huge catalog of rules. From my experience (lots as a gamer), finding a group of people to play DCS with has proven more hassle than with any other game I have played. That´s why I commented in the first place. Anyway, I have since found a Squad I enjoy flying with a lot, so it´s mission accomplished for me.:pilotfly:

You will need to agree that this process is MUCH more efficient when reversed. Rather than the individual checking out all Squads, if one recruiter from each Squad (..that is looking for recruits at the moment) checks threads like this one for applicants that appear to fit their requirements then the Squad finds its new member and the member his or her new squad. No wasted forum account registrations or time. I of course assume and believe that a new member to a Squad is as valuable as a Squad to a lone pilot. :thumbup:

I looked at the directory, doesnt give me enough info. I think this whole community odeal is HEAVILY handicapped by the absence of dedicated server software. This way its much more reliant on coordinating exactly when who is available to fly and there is little to no chance of spontaneous Squad action on a "default" server unless somebody goes nuts on their electricity bill. Thanks for responding FSF and comie.

Hi, I´ve been flying Black Shark and A-10 quite a bit now and enjoy it a lot. Thing is, I enjoy learning and flying with others and I´m finding the DCS community not very accessible. Lots of servers are passworded, Squads need you to memorize rules that exceed German tax law in length or you have to enter your real name just to have a first look at anything. I am married and I have a job. After that I like to play and I dont like to leave my data trailing around the net unless I know I´m going to stick around. Is there a squad out there that can deal with that and just let me join in some flying without all the red tape please?:pilotfly: Sorry for the ranty tone .. I´m ok really :).:helpsmilie:

Thanks for the hints. If only the game would recognize static objects as occupying the spots, it would be easy .. albeit a little tiresome :). nemesis I already tried your suggestion using Mig29s but they did a rather strange move of nosediving to their death (lol!) from 1m altitude at 0 speed. Maybe a chopper would land on its feet and just "sit" there, ill give it a shot, thanks for the idea :). -

Hi, I am a complete novice at mission editors, so pls have mercy. I have used the manual and read some threads here already. Sadly it seems nobody else is as much of a noob as me :). What am I trying to do? - I´m trying to adapt the Tutorial mission by ParaBellum for 8-way Multiplayer and have those 8 helicopters appear in positions *I* want them on the airfield. Now I have managed to make it 8-way multiplayer with no problems. What I cannot do is CONTROL where these Helis appear on the airfield. To prevent the game using the next available spot, which is one of those square parking lot-type places with protective hills around them, I added a new plane group. This group occupies that spot I dont want to use. The next 4 helicopters after that all enter on a large shared parking lot, which is where I want them. The 5th though gets dumped in its own area again. I tried inserting static objects into those parking lots I dont want to use with my Helicopters but the game doesnt really understand that the parking lot is then occupied. I dont want to have active airplane groups whizzing around the airfield and clogging up airspace just so I can get these choppers entering the game close to eachother in places that I define. SO please tell me what the trick is ? Thanks a lot for your time Plops.:joystick:
