The real world Mig-29 requires full aftter stick as flare, Why ?
Hyundae replied to Hyundae's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
I have now simplified my thoughts as much as possible. I thought of the MIG-29 just like the F-15. Based on this, I tried several times and it made landing easier like other planes. My mig-29: Internal fuel 50%, No weapones. Approach 310 ~320 km/h, AOA 7~8 Flare init 310 km/h at 8m, Simultaneously retard the throttle. Touchdown 280 km/h, AOA 10 I do not want to think about landing of mig-29 anymore. I just have to play games. ! In the meantime, I am very grateful to many of the online members for their information and advice. My last video: -

Thank you for your infromation and advice ! The purpose of this post is, why does the MiG-29 airplane pull the stick so much when landing? It was. My thoughts may be wrong, but it 's a conclusion that the Russian landing method is slightly different from the West. The video below was piloted by a retired MiG pilot. (The ED developer has confirmed the fact.) In this video, at the moment of flare, he almost pulled the stick to the end. If you have tried dcs mig-29 yourself, it will look a little strange and is described in the same way as in the real world mig-29 flight manual. I want to hear your noble opinion. Thanks~ -

. Wow ~ It's a very smooth and seems to be realistic landing ! I also feel like teaching at a Russian flying school in a different way from the Western way. For example, it seems that the rate of descent depends more on the pitch of the stick. -

Greate information ! I made use of the feeling of Russian Pilot as you explained above, and I followed the landing. Of course my landing was not perfect. The Russian thinks that the MiG-29's touchdown speed is a very important factor. My approach speed: 310~320 km/h (Real world flight manual: minimum 175 knots, entering the fialnal approach) AOA: I'M NOT SURE 1st flare init: I'M NOT SURE (Real world flight manual: 20~30 feet) I stopped th descent at 10 feet (I'm sure the view the track file) Throttle to idling at 10 feet. 2nd flare intitiating...I'm use only pitching Touch down Speed: approximately 140 knots (250 km/h) AOA: 12.9 (Real world flight manual: 11 degrees, Do not excced 13 degrees) When I landed like this, the speed was definitely reduced. The noticable is that: 1. Bouncing is reduced at the touchdown 2. The phenomenon of the plane swinging back and forth was reduced. But in the real world, the second flare will start right after the first. I gave it a term to show it in the video. Anyway, the developer of the dcs seems to have spent a lot of effort to the realistic landing. My video: -

This video linked by HWasp member seems to show very well the Russian style landing. In the above video, roll out complete at 48 seconds. From then on, the pilot seems to be trying to slow down ... Pretty much progress at similar altitudes for a while. If it was a Western landing style, it seemed to have a shorter touchdown. However, it is only my thought to the last. -

Great information ! On the Russian landing style, I think that the air speed more bleed off. The special range from 0.8~.5 m to grond, lts airplnae have throttle idle and the pilot try to nearly full back stick for touchdown. If so, Its airplne have some above the stall speed. Most simply say, The pilot try to flare again unlike western style. -

The real world flight manual its written. -
Thank you for your advice. I'm sorry, but my sentence is not perfect, so there is a misunderstanding. My trimmed is elevator up to 11 clickes, not for 11° AoA. I tried my best to keep 10 degrees aoa during landing approach, but it is not perfect. And, I attached the real world Mig-29 approach the shot.

Although MiG-29 is difficult to land, it is not at a level that I can not understand. I also hvae the some the other dcs modues which is that F-14, F-18, A-10, MIG-15, MIRAGE 2000 ... Although the MiG-29 is difficult to land, it is not at a level that I can not understand. Among the games I have played, the most difficult of landing is falcon 4.0. If you want to discuss bouncing at touchdown, play this game and you will know. My MiG-29 landing video, It is below that. https://youtu.be/VcXTVmHJwZU My joystick some setup. Deadzone 3, curve + 20 (AILERON, ELEVATOR, RUDDER) APPROACH SPEED: 290 KM/H TOUCH DOWN: 270 KM/H Before approach, I trimmed the elevator up to 11 clickes. I almost trying on the approch: Maintain the 10 degrees AOA and the glide path 2.5 ~ 3.0 degrees.
