  1. Indeed, many angles to master. lol…

It absolutely depends on which level you want to build your pit. Sure, OpenHornet is ‚HiFi‘ , but generally it gives you a good idea of parts and relations. The instrument panels are great templates! Just print them 3D and put them on a board. Easy way.

The Electronics are hard to master and - to be honest - I have some headache with their solution. So I‘m going not this way and will chose either FreeJoy or LeoBodnar for buttons and switches. Because of VR, Output (LED, Screens) is currently not of  interest for me. That might change in the future. At least just for eyecandiness and though I focus first on structure and inputs.

    Good luck, buddy!

I'm going to dig up this thread to attempt to fish for relevant measurements. There is very little available, and it's vague what does come up. Some inferences can be made, but cutting up an e pensive sheet of anything with unsure measurements really is troublesome. I've printed the NATOPS pages at 400%, and it looks close, but I can't be certain. The winwing panels don't spec like this, either. We really are in some uncharted territory.

Any news on some reliable info for this? I was watching this thread:

    https://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3351156/1

But it is not for measurements. The hornetpits.org website has yet to respond to my requests to join their forums, also. There has to be a way to assure some of this before wasting material.

Have you taken a look at http://openhornet.com ?

As a work-round I can program the location of the targets then switch to FLIR and use TOO mode but then I lose the ability to ripple off up to 4 JDAM's on 4 close targets.

You can ripple 4 JDAMs in TOO.

As every TOO can store a position for each weapon station, you can preprogram 8 positions (4 for TOO1 and 4 for TOO2):
(Default) WPN station 8, switch it to TOO1, select your WP, TXDSG,
step WPN to station 2, switch it to TOO1, select your WP, TXDSG,
step WPN to station 7, .... (rinse and repeat)

After finishing this this, change quantity: box all 4 stations.

    Make your run.

    Attention:
QTY has to be deselected (unboxed) for all stations before assigning them WPs as TOO!
Otherwise you will overwrite the waypiont on the previous station and all stations have the same coordinates.

  4. Import STL in F360.

Then right click on the body on the tree to the left.

Function: Mesh to Brep -> New Component.

    Volià: Editable 3D object.

Depending on the unit of the source model and your currently active units you may have to scale the imported or new created body.

  5. Simultaneous guidance of 6 missiles to 6 targets was a procurement requirement for F-14, F-15, F-16, and F-18. Don't say "no" it's both missiles and targets.

How would you achieve that in our F18 as we only have L&S and DT2?

Seems that with the TWS of a F16 it could be done, but 'we' in F18? No idea...

  6. Go with the AMPCD (F18].

What is missing can (mostly) be put into the display frame.

And by using Helios you can program a kind of menu for this display:

Depending on the pressed OSB you can bring up different gauges or other things which won't fit anywhere else.

Or mimic the CPD of the F16 Blk 60.

That way you'll have a suitable display for Ka50 ABRIS - if that is of interest for you:

  7. I tried these from multiple sources, but could not get them working at all, which is a shame as from what I read they are set up better for the X27 steppers

    oof.. sounds not promising...

Another chip a buddy suggested is the VID66-06.

May the same like the AX1201728SG, just with another label.

    But maybe worth a try.
