Is there any way to add custom connectors ?
PeterP replied to PeterP's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
cheers again! +1 (it's actually 87 points) but: just because I distract and have a problem to stay always "on topic" , doesn't means that everyone can this too in "MY" threads :D . (You have to know : I follow a plan that will work out in the end... .... sometime(s) ...(and my own OT is part of it...)) So: Please let's stay on Topic ;) -
That's because your GPU jumps between e.g: 20-120 FPS in windowed mode (your numbers be maybe much lower - but I 'push' them to give you and others a better Idea what's happening) so lets say you got the first half a second 120 fps and the second half 13FP = a average of 66,5 FPS a sec. Nice ... .. for the GPU vendor and the documentation and Windows... ... But not for you and your Eyes and Brain!!!! Because its disturbing like hell! SoftTH collects alls data and gives them to you filtered . -.. also with a 'delay' - but anyway better algorithm than the GPU vendor uses What this does: You have smooth Frame-rates - much better than High ones only for a fraction of a sec. (Now I distract a little and talk about these "crazy" benchmarks I look at sometimes :...) 'smooth' doesn't sells when you put 30FPS against 340FPS... and they are measured on a system that uses a 60Hz Monitor... (The frame will be actualized 60 times in a second on the monitor...) So A) Believe this marketing or B) use your own Brain to draw your conclusions when you see benchmarks that goes higher than 200 FPS - and make your own thoughts if the 'joy'-factor was measured by a computer or a human. DX11...you ask ... here is MY answer(actually borrowed of a dear friend of mine): Difficult to see. ...Always in motion is the future. EDIT (found it!): Please read here to get 'deeper' in why 'fast' isn't always smooth... : >>> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1515171#post1515171 - make sure you read up to post #10!! ...to be honest: 30FPS stable is sure nice... (Damn ! how much time and money I had to put into 'it' to realize it on a 4700x1860 render frame while having a "Ultra-High Scene.lua".... ...But stable 45 would be sure nice when DX11 arrives.... . still dreaming to live long enough to see stable and smooth 60FPS with all detail.... ... preferable on a 4K display in stereoscopic vision.)

Truly one of the best mods I ever saw, it shouldn't be missing in any Mod collection ;) KNEEBOARD Tablet Export for 'monitorsetup.lua' in all modules - DCS 1.2.4 A showcase of the optional in-cockpit placement:

Read the readme again and this post: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?...7&postcount=17 edit: Sorry - I'm short at time. But it is really already covered X times in this thread. -
Is there any way to add custom connectors ?
PeterP replied to PeterP's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
Thanks very much for all the suggestions so far! I had up to now no time to have a deeper look at it . -whatever - The mod is up ! KNEEBORD_Tablet_Mod_PP_for DCSWORLD_1.2.4 Without click-able function... and Right now without a autohotkey mouse gesture recognition (but this can change quickly when I find 1-2houers coding time.) ... ( to be honest: the code takes about 20min - the documentation is most time consuming - so I understand somewhat ED...) Feel free to twist the files your own or see if you are able to do something with it to get the knee-board somehow click-able. -
...because it will be a pain for me to update my mod every time you (ED) update something and or a third party developer changes also some files. KNEEBOARD_Tablet_Mod_PP_for DCSWORLD_1.2.4 Please have a look at my used file-structure - I tried to program it as slick as possible around the core-files of DCS and it only has a very small footprint in each module. The base structure of the mod will be untouched by a DCS-update. You only have to in-cooperate the devices/device_init changes and the key-commands for the Ka-50/A-10C to keep this functionality alive. Oh, I almost forgot: Also change the Default level of the Left_MFCD - so the Kneeboard and L-MFCD are not fighting each other when both are assigned as a view-port. Yes, see my work as 'gift'. Do something with it - and maybe add also a click-able function to it. >>> Is there any way to add custom connectors ? Thanks in advance for having a look! BTW: Moderators! Please have mercy with me and change the thread name to: Functional Kneeboard for all Modules! and don't let it look like this any more: ;) Thanks!

Kneebord Export for all DCS modules - I need your suggestions

KNEEBORD_Tablet_Mod_PP_for DCSWORLD_1.2.4.rar is up! -
Revisit post #1 : KNEEBORD_Tablet_Mod_PP_for DCSWORLD_1.2.4.rar is up! ... the documentation is very hasty written - if you find some typos - you can keep them ;) (I will revisit it at a later time) -but please notice me about any logical failure or bug. Known bugs: Kneeboard 'peek' function is reversed when in "in-cockpit" mode - you have to use the show/hide key/button press.

a better Idea is maybe to just put the wheel in vertical position under your feet and put some sort of plank on it to rest your feet - and than turn just the wheel/plank... EDIT: Seems we finally convinced IonicRipper . >>> Looking for rudder pedals!

Will DCS World support 11,520 x 1080 resolution?
PeterP replied to Hermesf's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
well - don't be so impressed by 11520 horizontal - it will still be only 1080 high. You get only more 'usable' detail if you get your aspect ratio closer to 1:1. otherwise you will end up zooming-in regardless of your horizontal FOV. -
here is a example what you can do 'out of nothing' and without to know how to rewire potentiometers/hall-sensors or whatever: ... to be honest: the Idea is OK but the hinge needs some serious redesign to get the paddles chained together... ...or add a detachable pulley on your momo-pedals , so one wont be able to move one forward when the other is punched down.
-
Had them before the saitek - -CH rudders are too narrow . - this ads to much strain to your legs during helicopter long-runs (keep in mind: holding them centred for longer periods is not common in the Huey) and isn't usable at all when you will sometime change to a center-stick config . (some info about my experience: I came from (almost) helicopter-only flying in FSX to the BlackShark some many moons ago)
-
Serious?! :D A cold beer!
-
well, sure it will work 'somehow' - as long you can use both pedals as combined axis (... ) . BUT: I also experimented with racing wheel pedals in my 'early days' . And I came to the conclusion that it might be usable for fixed wing use - but very inconvenient for helicopters - as you very often face a flight state where you never keep them 'centred' - so you will have to hold your feet always at a certain position that can change really quick , and this adds allot of strain to your legs (That's why I added the tip to modify the rudders)...and doing it while both pedals aren't mechanically connected to each others will be even more stress ... I hope you get my point . My conclusion: Flying/cursing and taking off/landing when having some space around you and whatever will work OK - but you won't be really able to do it with finesse and precision, and have some hard time in pin-point landings and tricky manoeuvres.

...one word: Chemtrails means: People! Don't look too long in the sky and never start staring because someone else does ..., maybe just start to fix the things on the ground that are explainable and there are proved solutions to do so . :D

Will DCS World support 11,520 x 1080 resolution?
PeterP replied to Hermesf's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If this would be the case (Bold) - no sane human would drive a car with a roof/wind-shield border...because they would be too distracted to look at the street. (lets put aside the consequence of seeing stereoscopic for this example ) :D Here is another proof that 'our' brain cancels out visual information in many situations: I also saw many times some seniors that had to look actually trough the opening of the steering wheel while driving ! ...and I bet that they pretend to have a absolute perfect awareness and vision of the street ... -
OK - I had this week no time for additional testing the 'A-10C Hot-fix' , so I will take your word and put out the (almost ;)) Final version up within the next 48 hours. (...still working on the click-function ) - In the meantime - here is some 'advert' , showcasing the optional in-cockpit Knee-board. Here is some commenting 'bla-bla' to all that are not used to the knee-board concept similar to that the P-51D is using: you will be able to show/hide it any time by your own will and zooming it in will allow you to read every tiny dot of your charts. You will also get a place-Holder for your own info that is bound only to the used module so you can take any useful/un-useful info with you regardless of the pre-sets or what the mission-maker had in mind. (right now occupied by my forum-avatar) And I will convert the default charts (...Eagle DynamicsDCS WorldBazarTerrainKneeboard...) into *.dds format with mipmaps - so they dont 'shimmer' when viewed from an angled position. ...and yes, I will also add a easy to follow instruction how to place it anywhere you want it inside the cockpit if my positioning doesn't suits you in your preferred vehicle... :)

Will DCS World support 11,520 x 1080 resolution?

Up to now I heard this demur only from people that never used a Multi-head set-up for longer times. A seamless display would be sure nice , but: Be assured - when you use a correct bezel-compensation and once sat more than 1 hour in front of it for the first time - your Brain will automatically cancel the borders out of you perception and you will barely notice them any more while your concentrated on the screen content in you next simulation-sessions. (many of my friend are also astonished how it becomes a 'non-issue' once they 'fly' them-self at my pit and don't only watch me using it ) And I would never trade size against pixels - so using a single 42" 1920x1020 is no option for me compared to a Multi-head 5700x2160. It is much better and friendlier to your eyes (nearly no need to use the zoom - everything is crisp and easy to spot). Yes - our Brain does sometimes 'funny' things:
