I have similar problems. I updated the Openbeta version and first it said I have no authorization. But then it continued. Eventually, I got to the main screen where the AH-64D was checked marked to install. Once I hit the button there was a long pause and then a message saying I was not authorized. I tried again, same message. I am now in the process of "Repair Install". What is going on here? I bought this over a year ago. Never had this problem with Hornet, AC-10, AV-8B, Super Carrier, or ANY of the maps.

I'm losing interest. Fortunately I didn't put down any $$$ on an early access. Once the AH-64D comes out, bye bye to EF

I remember playing Spitfire Ace on the C64 as well! My first more serious look into "flight sims" was Microproses F-15 Strike Eagle, and I got really seriously invested (reading the manual religiously) in Gunship, all on the C64.
Same, Microprose F-15E Strike Eagle was my first before Novalogic and the "Excellent for the time" Jane's Longbow I & II. Lots of others followed. Still have them all on the original disks and packaging.

We'll know by whether Wags releases any new videos in the next week or two.
Whatever happens - it's coming. And that's more than enough for me. Casmo's video today is proof to me that ED is doing their absolute best to learn from previous experience and make this an excellent module.

It's supposedly going to be January. If so, you only have about a month to wait.
January?? What year?

yep, I guess I was just concerned about the folder DCS World Openbeta instead of just DCS World and was wondering if I would even need to change that. So, you're right, my bad.

@Alphamale as @Lange_666 stated, there are brief periods where stable and ob are on same level. but if you are asking if ob process will ever end and only be stable? i doubt it. you could always ignore the ob patches and only go from stable to next stable.
Well the thing is, the executable itself is openbeta.exe. I'd rather have the final executable than have a "Stand-by"

I'm interested in the operating manual too but can't find it using search. Where is it? Thanks very much!
I guess I could give you the link via PM. If a moderator would verify doing so is ok?

BTW: Stable and Open Beta are on the same version right now (2.7.5.10896).
Yes and that's why I asked. We can't have something on "Open beta" forever. It has to end with their most stable version.

Found it.

I did, however, dl the Updater GUI and thanks for that link.

Usually yes, at least the latest and greatest ones.
It's hard to give a rule of thumb, but stable has at times lagged behind open beta by as much as half a year, so anything that wasn't in the beta at that point is not in stable. Conversely, on the day that a new stable version is released, it is almost always brought in line with the current beta version so both will commonly have the same capability. Even then, though. some of the “earlier-than-normal” access modules will occasionally still be held back because they are just not ready for prime time yet.
I'm sure there's some list out there that specifies what is in (and not) the respective stable and beta branches in a clear manner so you don't have to dig through and compare months of patch notes to figure it out yourself, but I unfortunately don't know of one myself. You'll sometimes see it mentioned directly on the store page for a given module that it requires some specific version, and that version is only available on the beta branch at that moment.
Well then, that being the case, it seems it would be more prudent to use the most recent openbeta if you would want to have at least some access to projects before you die. Wouldn't you agree given past trends?

First of all, by “final version”, do you mean installing the latest stable branch or do you just mean updating the latest build, period?
Second, the easiest way of doing either is to get the DCS Updater GUI, which lets you pick branch and build fairly easily. The GUI itself is at times a bit clunky, but it is still a massive improvement over having to do it via the command line.
If you still want to do it manually, the full instruction of the updater functions and parameters can be found here. Just note that doing it that way means you have to research exactly which build number is the latest one for the branch (beta or stable) you want to run. In practice, you can pick the wrong one without issue but that will, obviously, give you the wrong version.
As a general rule, doing this will not have any effect on your modules or missions, short of if you go back to a stable release that does not yet support one of the modules you have installed. If you have any mods installed in the base directory (and you really shouldn't — there are better places for that in most cases), those will be “repaired” (read: wiped) in the process like with any update. Apply whatever mod management tools and methods you'd usually employ for any regular update.
I mean the stable release. And if so, will going to the latest stable release prevent me from getting early access to modules such as the Longbow? TIA

I don't want to re-register any modules or missions.

In your opinion, will this manual list ONLY the operations that we will be using or is this manual for the real thing? Edit: They only have the 64-A version and it's not free.

Is there anything like an operating manual out there yet? Specifically on how DCS will have it operating?

I wanted to show how little the hovering chopper was affected by the assault. But if you listen to the dialog, you can hear that the gunner should go to Auto-range before the attack. I'll only post it, if I can get a moderator's ok.

This is NOT the gun kills you see from a AC-130 on the web. This was video given to me by a former student I had long time ago.

Does anyone know if I can post REAL live chopper kills? Enemies are actually killed from a distance with a chain gun. Would it violate rules for me to post it?

If this info is so readily available, why did it take ED so long to get to it? I mean when I first ordered Blackshark it was "Hey, why this attack chopper?" Even then, everyone knew the Apache was state-of-the-art. We were told that because of this there was too much Top Secret shit in this. It could not be divulged in an accurate replica of the Apache. Are we now supposed to believe that ALL this is now declassified? Or maybe ED was feeding us a load of crap.

Had so much fun with the FCR in LB2 - pop up behind a hill, scan targets, back down, hellfires away! Hope they don't take too long with the FCR.
YESSSSSS! LB2 was the best. I can remember making it home after a mission with no radar and had to fly NOE in pitch dark. In those days, this Jane's sim was one of the first to allow multi-player and my CPG was going nuts thinking we were toast. At the end of the mission we got the silver star or MOH, I forget. But it was very immersive back in those days.

Well, for cryin out loud. They can't provide a program that tells you how to get your legitimate module to play nice with the OB version? All the other modules since Warthog were simple click and it updated and I was in cockpit in less than ten minutes. Now with Apache I get all sorts of install warnings...like "This does not work with Steam"....I KNOW THAT, skip that message. Complete waste of money.
