  1. Fun for the whole family! :D Come on guys, this'll be great! SIGN UP!
  2. So hang on. Does this mean all 6 degrees of movement? I thought there were issues with the textures? If this is true, I'm gonna have to upgrade my trackir 2... I CAN'T AFFORD THIS LOL!
  3. Yeah but those 6 degrees of movement are not compatible with the textures of LOMAC. You'll end up seeing things you're not intended to.
  4. I'm pretty sure there was no lag. I was dealing with a fellow 169th pilot doing some training runs. He was gently maneuvering, but far from 90 degrees. There's NO WAY he could possibly have beamed my radar with his evasive techniques. I watched him the whole time, he was flying as if he wasn't even being locked let alone being launched upon. Very offensive. I mean, during the engagement I was laughing to myself and thinking this guy is toast. Why isn't he evading?! He's got no chance, I've launched way before him and he's not even trying to F-pole. Then SMACK. Wasn't laughing anymore. I was cursing at how it was a load of s***.
  5. Hmmmm yeah altitude may have something to do with the notching. Good point although I can't remember the alt of the bandit at the time. I'll have to do some more tests but that still doesn't explain why my TEWS goes blank and the lock tone ceases, I mean I'm not even being spiked. To me that shoud be a pretty damn good reason to think that the radar has been effectively notched. Could be the angle of my wings... more tests... However my bigger problem is the one concerning holding a constant lock on a target with an Aim-7, with him claiming he broke lock multiple times. His claims of a solid lock break contradict my radar saying there's a lock! Very strange and very, VERY frustrating...
  6. Ok, I'm not really one to get cranky about LOMAC very much but today is such a time. Now in most cases when a person has a problem like this there's often a logical explanation, or they're a noob and didn't read the manual etc. But I feel I know the sim pretty well now and am convinced that the problem I'm having is not normal. I'm flying in a F-15 the other day and engage a Su-33 with EMs. He fires on me first so I break right 90 degress and watch my TEWS go blank and hear the lock tone cease. Lock broken. I hold this beam for a while and am convinced the missile is stuffed and turn back onto the bandit. The moment I'm nose on... BANG. Dead. Hmmmmm someone must've snuck up on me. "Hey GK, who was that with the heaters sneaking up on me?" "No heaters man, got you with my EM." "Huh, but I broke lock for ages and was never reaquired." "No you didn't, I had you locked the whole time." ????????? So to add to this I'll be in a F-15, launch a Sparrow at a bandit within good launching parameters, F-pole to the left or right, reduce speed and retain lock comfortably. I'll look at my radar and can see the target is within gimbal limits and the missile is still on it's way. After 10 seconds or so I hear him launch on me, no problem I launched first, and continue to F-pole while he makes a gentle turn of around 50 degrees, then heads back onto me at full speed. I wait and wait and WAIT. What the hell is going on? I've held lock, he hasn't evaded my missile, he should be dead by now.... then BANG. I'm dead. I say to him: "Hey did you get a missile launch warning?" "Yeah, but I broke lock about 3 times." "WTF? You were locked up the whole time on my radar." ???????????? Well.... this is REALLY pissing me off. This is not right at all and has been happning to me a lot lately. Especially when I fire my last Sparrow. I can't remember the last time I scored a kill with my last Aim-7. After my final launch the ASE circle dissapears on my radar and no TTI data is displayed on the HUD. (is this normal?) The bandit will stay nose hot on me as though he's not even being locked or fired upon, yet I can see he is by the STT on my radar! He won't even pop chaff and the missile still misses! Something is wrong with my TEWS and Radar in semi-active environments. Now I may very well be wrong, there may be a logical explanation. But I have NO IDEA what is happening and am convinced this is dodgy. Is this a bug, has this affected other people? Should I re-install? Comments please!
  7. Cobra, you Qantas punk... Cop that says Cobra lol!
  8. Don't real F-15 radars have a 'sort' function which zooms in on a selected segment of the radar display to separate targets? Or is my brain just making up things again??
  9. Hey, the F-15 is my favourite jet in LOMAC for a reason! :) It's a fantastic a/c. There are so many variables when comparing flight performance: wing loading, fuel loading, speed, alt, pilot etc. so it makes it difficult to say which single a/c is the best in a horizontal turn. Ice flies the MiG more often than me, there's no doubt. But when I first started flying the MiG I could literally feel a difference in the turn. I felt I could push the AoA higher and it's instantaneous turn rate was exceptional. I was able to get behind the F-15 so quickly but hey... who knows. It's just from my experience, it's just that it was fairly recent and I saw it with my own eyes. Maybe I need an Eagle gunzo ace to prove me wrong! Gunzo ain't my strength!
  10. The end of January 05 was the date posted on the Lock On website.
  11. Your boots give me blisters on the toes though Sven.
  12. Hey, altitude was NEVER mentioned. At altitude it may be a different story but lower down the MiG is superior. Like I said GGTharos, fly the F-15 to it's strengths and go vertical. Boom and zoom. If you keep it low, slow and flat then the Fulcrum is in it's element. What was the MiG-29 designed for? Short range intercept and CAC. The 15? A medium range interceptor and air superiority. The MiG is a small fighter and far more skittish, light and agile than the 15. FAR MORE and I still stand by it. It's flight performance is a work of art, much like the Su-27. And GGTharos, if you take anyone on in a fully fueled Su-27 in a knife fight you can kiss your arse goodbye. It'll be as heavy as a ship. Period. Drop the fuel to 50% and it's LETHAL. The 27, afterall, is a 'super fighter'. Ice, I remember only about a month and a half ago getting onto your 6 in a MiG-29, you were in the 15. It wasn't that hard either as we both started at low speed, low alt (the MiG's strength). Once again I'm not saying it was me, it was the jet that did the work. If it's horizontal and slow, then the MiG has it on the 15. If this is incorrect in LOMAC, then I would feel that the moddeling of the MIG's flight characteristics have been under moddled.
  13. Ice you MUST be kidding! You can run rings around a 15 in a MiG! Sustained turn rate may eventually fall to the 15 but the MiG will be on your 6 and firing in under 20 seconds so it doesn't really matter. Now you know I'm a F-15 pilot normally, but I distincntly remember a training gunzo engagement with 169th_TomAce where I was in the 29, he was in a 15. I was able to fly WITHIN the MiG's capabilities and I still got on the Eagles tail with no hassle. That's no discredit to TomAce, nor am I saying it had anything to do with me. It was just simply to easy to come around on his 6! You of all people would know from experience as you're often in the 29. It's an angles fighter compared to the 15, there's no question! The 27 is a little different and requires a VERY skilled pilot to out turn a 15. But as we've all seen if the Su is below 50% fuel it should win the horizontal fight if flown patiently.
  14. Indeed, keep it coming! We'll have to start getting this show on the road soon.... as soon as I'm back from my holiday that is. The 169th needs me, right Sven?!
  15. No way mate. The Mig will kill the 15 in a horizontal fight if flown correctly. And I mean KILL. No question. If you're forced to fly the Eagle in a knife fight you should keep it vertical and utilise the Eagle's superiour thrust. Boom and zoom.
  16. Yep, what he says. Fly the F-15 to it's strengths, not it's weaknesses. I like to keep the fight at arms length at all times. It's strengths are it's superiour radar (TWS) and the ability to launch multiple AMRAAMs on multiple bandits without giving off a lock warning. Even if you're engaged by 4 or more, if they're close together you've got an even fight because you put them all defensive at the same time. It's weaknesses are CAC. It can be easily out-turned by a MiG or light Su and it's Aim-9 is a so so missile compared to the high aspect, helmet mounted 73's of the Russian birds. The only thing going for it in CAC is it's auto-acquisition modes but the Ruski birds will have that in 1.1 so it'll level that right out. If you're packing AMRAAMs, know the features of your radar well, are aggresive with your scanning and know when to bug out, you're the king of BVR in the Eagle. End of story.
  17. That's all indeed lol! Some pretty cool requests in there. The only ones I would question are: (On the HUD the distance to bullseye and bearing FROM BULLSEYE TO THE AIRCRAFT should be displayed. ) I've heard that this data is not displayed on the HUD of the real F-15. You also said that the AMRAAM should have a small amount of black smoke. Now I know you know that the AMRAAM is apparently 'close' to being smokeless but are you sure that it's small amount is black? I would've thought white or grey. (TWS should not display a 'bugged' contact differently than any other contact, but it shoudl put a little circle around or something similar to indicate that this is a designated target.) This sounds a little vague, "a circle or something like that". What's the correct display? The rest is cool!
  18. Excellent Nomad! Have you been in contact with anyone from our squad yet? http://169thpanthers.net/main/index.php
  19. Lol that'd be cool! "Enfield 11, Olympus..... we're in deep s***. Requesting assisstance"
  20. Cool, fair enough. Well then perhaps put the devs could give us the option to alter the amount of chaff and flares we carry. Would this be possible in a future add on?
  21. Well I'll know that if I ever engage you GGTharos and lose contact there's a good chance you're gonna pop up to my right
  22. That's debatable! Give me the F-15 BVR any day! CAC is a different matter however. Whatever is realistic imo. INDEED!
  23. Now THAT would be unreal!!!
  24. Although.... you could just add arms but have them never leave the stick and throttle. Would look better than no arms at all, wouldn't take to long to animate and wouldn't be to hard on fps, if at all. What do you reckon? Just a suggestion of course, I'm not hugely fussed.
  25. Looking forward to it too! And who knows, maybe zzzspace can weave some more sound-editing magic!
